Amazing! My husband and I were passing through San Antonio, decided to stop to get something to eat. After looking on websites and reading reviews Josephine stood out. We both had the chicken fried steak. The steak and sides (mashed potatoes and fries) were delicious and had very generously served portions . Must try the onion rings with their homemade ranch. Shoutout to our server Gerard.

This was my first time trying Josephine's after passing it numerous of times while visiting the pearl. The overall atmosphere is amazing I really love the cozy, warm vide of the restaurant. The food is also very delicious the portion sizes are amazing compared to the prices my only dislike is the chicken fried steak was a little overly seasoned with salt and pepper.

This was our first time to eat here. The food is 10/10. Great quality meat. Our server was friendly. Told us the history of the restaurant.

We arrived as it opened on New Year's Day and were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. This restaurant is known for its chicken fried steak for good reason. It is some of the best I've had in Texas. If you are a fan of chicken fried steak don't pass on this. Because it was New Year's Day each plate included complimentary black eye pea salad. Overall great experience and would recommend a visit when you're in San Antonio.

First time trying Josephine and overall it was a good experience. The frozen sangria was really good, my husband ordered an old fashioned but he said it was extremely sweeter than usual. I had the pork chops which were super good, I was not a fan of the green beans as the tomato sauce really overpowered the taste. Not a fan. My husband ordered Tony's chicken and it was pretty juicy and tender. They give parking validation which is a plus!

The service was great and the relaxed vibe was a welcomed relief after a busy morning. I met a friend here for an early dinner. I enjoyed a fantastic Paloma and highly recommend it. I was not so happy with my food. I ordered a fried catfish dinner with coleslaw and an extra side of corn on the cob. Although the portion was huge, I like my catfish fried in cornmeal instead of a seasoned flour batter. The corn on the cob was grilled and very soft. However, it was also seasoned with some type of salty spice mix that I did not like. I had no idea it was going to be served that way or I would've asked for it with just butter. Again, some folks may have loved it, but it definitely was not my taste. My friend ordered chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy, which looked delish. I would definitely be willing to return to try that entrée.

So I was invited to have lunch with my new coworkers. This place is just down the street from our office. The place it self seems nice. It was really busy when we first arrived. I liked that they offer to validate parking. The staff were really nice and greeted us when we walked in. We were sat pretty promptly. I would say this place has limited vegetation options so just be aware of that. I don't normally tell people about any restrictions I have. I ordered a spinach salad and some "fries" with an iced tea. The salad was amazing. I would order that again. I'm not used to chip style fries but they were fresh. My coworkers ordered the fried catfish with sautéed mushroom and the grilled chicken breast with mash. The food came out pretty quickly. Everything looked and tasted nice. No complaints from us. Definitely a place to try if you're in the area. Great service and food.

We visited Josephine Street on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for lunch. No wait and we got a table outside because the weather was great! The umbrellas helped to provide shade when the clouds rolled away. Our server was very attentive; we definitely had her running back and forth with the drinks! We started with the spinach & artichoke dip, which was absolutely delicious! I got the 7 oz steak and shrimp. I ordered my steak to be cooked medium and although it came out medium well (more well on half of it) it was tender and juicy. I loved the chimichurri that came with it. The 3 blackened shrimp were cooked well and I got cocktail, tartar, and lemons to go with them. My boyfriend got a burger and he asked his meat to be medium rare and it came out VERY well done, so he was disappointed, but hungry and ate it all anyway. I docked a star, because we both got beef that was more than slightly overcooked from what we ordered. We didn't ask for anything, but they did address it by comping the appetizer. The cook needs further training in this area, especially since steaks are such a large part of their menu. I dislike that the Pearl has monetized all the parking, but some of the nearby restaurants will validate your parking, so it will be free if you're dining. Don't forget to ask if they forget to give you the QR code!

My wife and I wanted to go to the Pearl Brewery area. While we were down there we wanted to get something to eat. We popped in Josephine Street Restaurant. We were able to get a seat. This is a very quaint restaurant that seems to have a lot of personality. We were quickly greeted and seated. I had the Cajun chicken and my wife had the shrimp. Both of our meals were excellent. Based on the service and quality of food I would definitely return. There's a little of everything on the menu. This is a quality visit in the Pearl Brewery area.

Food is always delicious! Perfect place for homemade comfort food. Spinach artichoke dip is one of the best in the city. Free validation for parking.

Josephine Street pre-dates the redevelopment at Pearl and retains its high quality, meat-centric menu in unpretentious surroundings. The building feels like it belongs on a small town Main Street, with quirks like a tree trunk in the middle, but overshadowed by an elevated highway. Thankfully the restaurant validates for the parking in the lot under the highway. The menu--whether you read the chalkboard or flip through the pages--centers on steaks, from choice to prime, in classic cuts like ribeye and bacon-wrapped tenderloin. The tenderloin also makes for delicious anticuchos: beef skewers in a vinegary marinade, offering a touch of Fiesta San Antonio flavor. The onion rings are notable: sweet onions, cut thickly, battered with a touch of cornmeal. The service is efficient; no reservations, but tables turn over.

Josephine's exceeded my expectations! I sat the bar and my bartender was so kind and my food was delicious to say the least!

I stumbled upon this restaurant after leaving another because of bad service and Josephine's did NOT disappoint at all! The customer service and food was top tier! Thanks again Josephine's

This San Antonio staple never disappoints! Last night's spinach dip was a great starter. The service always makes you feel at home and I love the laid back casual environment. Dinner was soo good I forgot to get a picture.

We assumed that meant it's like a bar and grill, not just a bar that happens to have a unassociated food window/kitchen at the back. We planned our first ever visit here after family day at the art museum, but the bar staff asked my husband and son to leave while I was trying to find parking (the lot next to the bar is privately owned and charges $19 for 4 hours). That isn't mentioned on their Google page or Facebook page, and on their Instagram, it isn't clear that it is 21+ all the time as it is written right after "late night." I went in on my own to order wings to go. The menu is not written anywhere, and isn't on the website (which would also be a convenient place to mention that anyone under 21 is not allowed on property), so the moved slowly as no one could figure out what they wanted until they reached the only ordering kiosk at the window. Maybe their flavors change frequently? A chalkboard or something would be nice. The wings were very reasonably priced and didn't take overly long. We took them up the road to someplace with picnic tables to eat--only to discover that one of the extra sauces was missing and another was wrong. It would also be helpful if they labeled the different flavors. Maybe it was an off night for the wings, but we didn't get the hype. I think this restaurant is suffering from being too successful too quickly and will hopefully find a way to scale up to accommodate its popularity. Maybe somewhere with menus and access for families. I would try it again at that point, but I can't see going through the inconvenience for their food until then.

That's how I ended up trying Anthony Fish & Chicken, and honestly it turned out better than expected. The restaurant is located on the east side of San Antonio, which happens to be the area I grew up in. Some people who aren't familiar with the area might consider it a little rough, but in my experience those neighborhoods often have some of the best food in the city. I called in my order and was quoted about 25 minutes. It took a little longer than that, but it wasn't a problem. When I pulled up there were a grip of cars waiting for food, so clearly the place stays busy. One thing to know if it's your first time: if you don't call ahead, you order at the window. I accidentally tried going inside at first and was told they were serving through the window only, which was fair enough. I ordered the 15-piece lemon pepper chicken, which came with fries and two slices of bread. We also grabbed steak nachos at the last minute, and those didn't even make it home because they got demolished in the car. They were loaded with toppings and I'm pretty sure they used Doritos for the chips, which added extra flavor. The chicken itself was excellent. Crispy, fresh, and clearly made to order. The legs and thighs were seasoned well and the portion size was generous. A 15-piece could easily feed a small family of three or four. Between the nachos and a couple sides we made at home, it actually ended up feeding five people comfortably. The crinkle cut fries were also solid and had a nice seasoning on them, and the hot sauce they give with the chicken paired really well. When I arrived there were a grip of cars waiting, and after trying the food I understand why. Compared to my number one fried chicken spot, Chatman's Chicken, this place honestly holds its own. The chicken here is crispy, fresh, and flavorful all the way through. Another thing I appreciated was the value. I've seen places around San Antonio charging close to $20 for a simple three-piece meal, and the food doesn't even come close to this quality. Here the portions and price felt much more reasonable. Anthony's definitely has something going on. They have a solid menu with plenty of combos and options for a good price. Next time I'll probably try the wings because they looked great coming out of the kitchen. Overall this spot definitely satisfied my fried chicken craving. I'll be back again.
