Kid's crispy taco. Son loved it.
    Lisabelle L.

Tried this place again and it lost a star for it's food. Called in to order for takeout and service was great. I wasn't too happy about the price, it has gone up and the website doesn't show updated price. Regardless, the food is plenty. I finally got to try the gordita and the lengua and tripas tacos. My husband got their barbacoa plate and we ordered the chimichanga plate again because it was good the last time we got it. Seems like food is not cooked consistently here. Chimichanga was very salty this time. The shredded chicken gordita lacked a lot of flavor. They gave me a lot of shredded chicken which was very nice, but there was no flavor. I was disappointed. Other than that, the gordita wasn't dry and it came very stuffed with chicken. My husband's barbacoa lacked salt, but we prefer it to be lacking salt than to be overly salted. The lengua and tripas tacos wasn't anything special. The lengua was soft, not chewy or tough. Tacos comes with their red and green sauces which are not my favorite either, comes with a good kick, but not my favorite. The tripas was nicely crispy with a clean taste. I asked for extra crispyness too. Basic tacos, nothing to be impressed about, but glad I got to have some lengua and tripas. I probably would order from here again since it is close by, but will think twice before recommending this place. You do get a lot of food for the price so if you want quantity over quality then it doesn't hurt to try this place.

Finally got to try both lunch and breakfast at this place! I went as basic as you can to determine whether a Mexican restaurant is good or not. For lunch, I got a carne asada taco and a crispy tripas taco. Carne asada was great! Cooked and seasoned perfectly! The tripas, i felt could have been a little cleaner. But still had a great crunch to them. Salsa was good and plenty of cilantro and onion! Breakfast was a bit of a let down. I ordered on the phone and the order was ready by the time I arrived, I truly appreciate a business that values your time. I ordered a bacon and egg taco and a machacado taco. The B&E taco was an egg taco with a bacon strip. I understand they do this to save time, but part of a bacon and egg taco is allowing the egg to cook in that bacon fat. The machacado was a bit dry, like maybe it had been sitting for a while? Service was great, lace looked very clean and very comfortable and rustic furniture. I would definitely go again, just not for breakfast.

Always great food and cheap margaritas!! After a dozen visits with zero disappointments, I can easily say this our families top spot for Mexican food! Fajitas never disappoint! Street tacos (pastor) are my go-to favorite and so delicious every time with tons fresh cilantro, lime, and grilled onions. Weekly specials and open for breakfast or a late dinner. Great custom made furniture for enhanced atmosphere. The staff is always accommodating to anything from custom food orders or even changing the TV channel to different games!

I loved the hospitality & the cleanliness. This is a FAMILY restaurant so if crying kids offend you, sit outside or stay home. A lot to choose from menu wise. We love the mexican coke & the cheese they serve with the salsa is perfect A lot of murals and things that appear to be hand painted which I appreciated. I'll def be returning :)

Very disappointed . Food don't have flavor at all. Tacos and our plates. Very plane food. Place is clean. Good looking. Service good as well. Quality of food not good at all. They need to add flavor! So plane in taste. Sad

Carnitas plate (la Mexicana) with charro beans, margarita on the rocks, and fantastic salsa options.

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

My wife and I use to frequent this place YEARS ago, the service was good and the food was good,…read moreyears later we decided to go back & mannn the food quality & service has went down terribly! Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!

I ordered the chicken mushroom plate, and all the flavors were bold and well balanced. For drinks, I highly recommend the Jardin Eden. The fusion of lavender, blueberry, fruity liqueurs, and aromatic herbs made it one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. My only complaint was the service. We had a party of 10+ people with only one server assigned to us. He was very kind and professional, but it was difficult to find him throughout the night, especially when we were trying to pay our checks. The restaurant also wasn't very busy at the time, so service felt slower than expected. Overall, this is still a great spot for a special night out, and I would definitely come back.
