While I did provide a unique taste, neither of us really enjoyed our food and left wanting something different. We both had different versions of the saltado and shared the plantains. The saltado was ok and the plantains seemed a little undercooked. All in all, I think if you're after Peruvian flavors and have a dish in mind then the Freakin Incan could be a great stop for you, but it just seemed to miss the mark for us.

Once I walked into the restaurant, I knew I made the right choice. Rico Sabor Peruano evokes East LA vibes. The interior was not great, and the employee didn't speak English. I knew I was about to have one of the greatest meals of my life. After stumbling through the order with my early intermediate Spanish (Duolingo-level Spanish with a thick Gringo accent), I excitedly waited for my meal. The food was cooked in a reasonable amount of time, and the employee even proactively brought a bottle of hot sauce. How did she know?
