We went for dinner and it wasn't overly booked, that said, we had a reservation. When we sat, they didn't know our party size even though it was in the reservation, and they took my silverware and left the one from the empty seat beside mine- quite odd. The food was good, but know that they only had one appetizer that didn't have seafood, the entire menu is seafood with no substitutions (even the steak dish). There were some definite stand-outs but also a few things to be desired. To start, we were able to get a same-day reservation for a Saturday night. Parking is not validated by the restaurant but there is a deck nearby with ample parking. Even from the outside, the restaurant is a vibe. It's got an indoor/outdoor thing going on which makes you feel like you've been transported abroad. It also means that it doesn't retain air conditioning... and they had a few industrial fans blowing. Great idea in theory but not so great in practice. The table where we were seated was uncomfortably close to other diners and felt cramped the entire time. We ordered three dishes to share and there was barely any room on the table. On the plus side, our server was lovely and took the time to ask us about our familiarity with Peruvian food and outline some standouts on the menu. I didn't mention this to him but the menu online doesn't seem to match what they had in person... for example I remember seeing a Colombian empanada option (which drew me there in the first place) on the website. Cocktails and food came out really fast. We had the ceviche mixto, octopus, and chaufa for food and I had the mango jungle water to drink. The prices were pretty high for the portion size of the food. The ingredients tasted fresh (the fish of the day was mahi mahi) and the flavor was there. The octopus had nice char but wasn't as tender as I would have liked. I'm not a big eater so these three dishes were enough for the two of us and we opted to go to the Asian bakery next door for dessert instead of getting something here. Honestly I would recommend Tio Lucho's hands down for ceviche and Peruvian cuisine. It was fun to try something new and different at Madre Selva but I just don't think the food measures up. Tio Lucho's is much closer to the Peruvian food that I know from my time living in Miami. I can't speak to the authenticity beyond that. Madre Selva did seem like it would be a lot of fun for a large group and/or when the weather is tolerable. The ambiance is incredible. On a related note... I don't think I've been down to the Lindbergh MARTA station since college and I was totally floored to see all of the restaurants and developments in the area (Tongue and Groove is still a thing?!). The benefit of going to Madre Selva is that you can take a stroll and visit some of the other nearby businesses as well. read more

We ordered the classic ceviche and the ceviche carretillero, and both were really good fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for from a Peruvian restaurant. We also tried the Luchita cocktail, which was very tasty. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant were really nice, and the bar area stood out as a cool place to hang out and grab drinks. Service, however, fell a little short. Our waiter was friendly, but at times he was hard to find when we needed something. When we tried to get the attention of other staff, they would usually just signal that they'd get him rather than helping directly, which made things a bit inconvenient. I was super excited to finally try out this place after reading such great things! We started with the potatoes and the yuca appetizers, both of which were absolutely delicious and unique. We also had a few drinks - I had the Luchita which was very mezcal forward and refreshing. As for the mains, as a vegetarian, I was really excited about the cauliflower, but was extremely disappointed that the main was not available for dinner that day. I was surprised to say the least, but also disappointed that they wouldn't come up with a substitution given it's the ONLY vegetarian main on the menu. After asking for some options, I had to settle for the vegetarian ceviche. This was tasty and pretty to look at, but certainly not filling as a dinner item given it's a melange of vegetables. I'd love to come back to re-evaluate once I'm able to try the cauliflower, but for now I was left wanting more at this place! My friends did enjoy their octopus and seafood rice - though one friend had way more calamari on her rice plate than the other. First all you should know I LOVE Peruvian food and this place met all my expectations. Very fun chill vibe with very nice and attentive staff. The ceviche we ordered was very different from others I've had with the calamari on top. Wasn't sure how it would play out but it was great! The sauce was nice and refreshing and the sweet potato and calamari gave it a great texture experience. I can almost taste it as I write this review. The octopus dish was slightly chewy compared to other places but the taste made up for it. For our main course we went with a rice dish. I would have preferred the rice to be a bit dryer. We got the Acevichado Roll (4.5/5), Raices De La Costa (4.5/5), and Ceviche Carretillero (4.5/5), and all were great! The roll was a nice twist on sushi that I liked a lot more than almost all sushi I have had! The chalaquita added a nice warmth to the raices, and all the flavors blended together super well; it was our favorite dish of the night. The ceviche was also great and better than most I have had. I was skeptical that crispy calamari would work in it, but it really did! Based on a spur of the moment decision, we did not make reservations but were also more than happy to sit at their bar. Upon entering, there is a "ceremonial" hand cleaning service in which they pour some water from a pitcher and give you a heated towel to wipe them after. Already seemed very gimmicky but oh well. We got a couple round of drinks including their pisco sour and meszcal cocktails. Drinks were well prepared but the food took so long to come out. We got their Raices de la costa and lomo saltado which took well over 40 minutes. This was after they brought out the wrong dish initially. I really liked the rice and thought the portion size was good. BUT for $40 it really needs to be more. Lomo saltado was salty but not anything crazy. Overall, we had a pleasant experience but the price point is very uncalled. Ambiance is pretty and inviting but the costs is a big turn off. We dined here last night. We had the fried yucca appetizer. It wasn't bad but was odd. I love yucca fries. Such a wonderful texture and crunch. These were the consistency of mashed potatoes inside and crispy fried on the outside. It was not what I was expecting and definitely not something I would have ordered had I known. This erks me, especially as I probably would have already done so, since I think it's worth a stop and was already taking pictures of my food for a review. Size was also there. Tuna ceviche- good, but I thought the yellow creamy sauce drizzle over powered it. I would consider ordering this again, without the orange sauce. I liked the sauce and it reminded me of tamarind. My coworker got the special ceviche trio appetizer - which was good but absolutely not worth the $40 price, and the fried seafood was good but not super. I think the fry was a bit too heavy for me. She got an infusion drink which was delicious. Ambiance was really cool, and the little hand wash when you enter was a novel experience for me and was a nice touch. They said we had 10 minutes to get the drink order in before they switched to the guest bartenders menu. Well after we place our order she says never mind you have to order from the guest bartenders menu it'll take a few minutes to get. We order our food and I order a cocktail. The food comes out the veggie ceviche 22$. I try it and actually want to throw up it's such a repulsive texture and taste. I flag a server down as this is not something I'm going to be able to eat. He says well let me get you some bread to try to help. And also says he's never had the entree before and doesn't know how to eat it. Well, 5 min later our sever comes by says if you don't like the food let's do something else. So she suggests the cauliflower so I order that. The bread comes the previous server had placed and he takes it away saying nah you sent your entree back so the bread goes. Ok. So now I'm staring at my friend while she eats her dinner my cocktail still hasn't arrived 1 hr in. The cauliflower comes and it's edible and I eat it. After I have entirely finished my entree 1.5 hrs after being at the restaurant my cocktail arrives from the "guest bartender". I went here on my birthday after looking forward to my reservation for weeks. I read the fine print on OpenTable (no balloons, no decorations). There was no mention of a cake fee. I called ahead and asked about a cake fee and was told a minimal amount. I arrive for my reservation and am told that the cake fee was $40 which is NOT what I was told on the phone. The manager caught an attitude and told me that it's in the fine print on OpenTable. At the time of this review, there is absolutely zero mention of a cake fee (see screenshots, and I have also screen recorded to prove it). I ask them to cancel my reservation and they stated that I would be charged $25 per person for a no-show even though I was physically in-person, ready to eat, and very visibly NOT a no-show. Absolutely horrible service and ruined my birthday. I will never return to this place. Edited to add additional info: After telling me that my only options were to pay $40 for a cake fee or leave my birthday cake in my car, I asked if they could just hold it while I ate but not eat the cake there as I had plans to meet friends after (this was a birthday date with just my boyfriend). She proceeded to tell me that they wouldn't charge me if I didn't eat the cake, but that they didn't have room in the refrigerator, which makes NO sense. If you don't have room in the fridge, that means you were planning to charge me $40 to leave my cake out on the counter for 2 hours. Absolutely insane. I wish I had gotten the woman's name but she was was probably between 5'4-5'6, short spiky hair that looked gray-ish. I hate that there was no attempt to accommodate me whatsoever despite me making this reservation in April. PRE-DINING I heard about Madre Selva on Eater as a new, recommended Latin restaurant. All time slots were full on OpenTable, so I used the notify feature and a table opened up shortly after. There's a parking garage across from the restaurant, or some Park Mobile spots on the street in front. AMBIANCE The restaurant has a modern, open feel to it. It's not very large, but like most restaurants it was quite loud (the acoustics plus the loud music contributed to this). SERVICE Overall the service was fine, but not amazing. As soon as we were sat, the priority of the hostess was to make sure we knew we only had an hour and a half to eat, as they had lots of reservations that night. We had a party of 4 and they sat us at two tables for two which were built in to the floor so we were unable to move them together which seemed strange. F & B We started with the Forest infusion cocktail. This is what you'll see others around you dispensing from some kind of contraption. The drink was a little sweet for me. For food, we started with the Josper romaine salad which was very good, and had a nice texture. I had the Inferno half chicken which was excellent. The chicken was moist and the whole dish had great flavor and was a very generous portion. My husband had the Chaufa aeropuerto but commented that he preferred my dish. Delicious Peruvian food in Atlanta at Madre Selva. There were 5 people in our party so we ordered many plates to share. I started with a Passion Fruit Pisco sour, which was strong and very good. We ordered: Lomo Saltado, The purple dish was Octopus Tiradito. The yellow were potatoes, a Causa Limeña. The orange dish is Ceviche Carretillero. The shells are Parmigiana Conchitas. Finally for dessert, we got Picarones which look like donuts. The ambience was pretty cozy and modern for how busy it was. Everything we had was so tasty, can't wait to come back. read more

We heard about this restaurant on TikTok as being the best new restaurant in town. I wholeheartedly agree. We took our friends from out of town and the experience was great. The ambiance and service were fantastic and the food was even better. That Peruvian chicken was stupendous. Arias is my most favorite restaurant in the ATL, MV is 1a. We arrived without a reservation, and the front staff was very accommodating (though I wouldn't recommend this approach--we just happened to be in town). Thankfully, we were able to get seated at the bar, which turned out to be an excellent experience. Our bartender, Daniel, was fantastic--super friendly and knowledgeable, with great recommendations. I tried the Echoes of Chavín (a mix of tequila and herbal kombucha) and the Chilcano (made with pisco, fresh lime juice, and ginger ale). We sampled three different ceviches--classic, carretillero, and tuna--and finished with Daniel's suggestion for dessert, the Picarones Clásicos. The ceviches were absolutely on point, and Daniel made sure they were tailored to our preferred spice level. The owner, Francisco, stopped by to check on us, as did Alex, and the entire team was incredibly attentive and friendly. This place is a true gem! We'll definitely make the trip from Columbus, GA, to visit again--it's totally worth it! read more

The food was INCREDIBLE Peruvian is one of my favorite cuisines. I am usually a sceptic of latin restaurants in Atlanta. They always claim to be a certain cuisine, but find they are inspired by that cuisine, but this was not the case at Madre Selva. Everything was claimed to be imported from their ingredients to their chef and bartender. This is exactly what a trendy Peruvian restaurant is like in Lima and has been the best Peruvian restaurant I have experienced in Atlanta. WILL FOR SURE BE COMING BACK I am not sure the live dj will be there every night but he was spinning classy hard to find vinyl records.. The classic Pisco Sour was perfection. The other cocktails were just as amazing. Highly recommend ordering the Ceviche it reminded me of the ones I had in Peru if not better. I am actually looking forward to come back and try more from the ceviche menu. The service was amazing which was surprising for a new restaurant. Will be back next week, not sure I can go ahead and make my reservation through a review. I am still riding high from the meal of last night but it is on my top restaurant lists. read more

Every so often, a restaurant comes along that changes the game, that changes the way you think about and interact with food. Madre Selva is one of those restaurants. From the moment you enter, and they wash your hands for you, to the open air concept that makes you feel as if you're on holiday, to the extensive and perfectly executed ceviche menu, to the perfectly balanced dishes, delivered with exceptionally attentive service, this place deserves a Michelin Star. The bartenders were on another level. FFS, the owner/chefs wife works the ceviche bar! I'll spare you the menu details, or I'd be typing for another two pages.
