The food is pretty darn good. Flame grilled chicken. Mmm. The staff are kind and helpful. But I don't have much luck getting my drive thru orders correct. The last three visits, I've ordered sides and got wrong items. Never fails, I order mashed potato and always get Mac n cheese. It's like a paradigm error, consistent repeated error. Could it be if I ordered mashed potatoes then I would get Mac n cheese?! Last week, I remembered to check the bag before driving away. Yup, again wrong items. I got two Mac n cheese vs two mashed potato that I ordered. I told the cashier, he promptly provided two individual side containers of mash. Awesome. But who wants to sit in the drive thru to go through their bag to make sure items are correct. I don't, but I do at this El Pollo Loco. read more

I wish I could give this half a star. We went through the drive thru on taco Tuesday and the food was horrible. We ordered tacos and a chicken tostada salad. The chicken was so old and dry it was inedible. I was actually scared to eat it the taste was bad and I didn't wanna get sick right before Christmas. I usually go to the rancho location and it's good but this was really bad. I will most likely never come to this location again. Waste of money. read more

Full disclosure: today marked our first return to an EPL location in about 30 years, since moving north from Ventura County. Expectations were greatly exceeded. Remembering only that I probably paid something like $1.99 for a two-piece combo, we ordered two white meat only dinners with pinto beans, Cole slaw, and Mac n cheese. Very nice, fair size portions all around. Food was delicious, and close to how I remembered it. Service was great; a slight mixup with our order was beyond graciously resolved. A hoot to finally come back; promise we won't wait until 2055 to return. read more

I have eaten at El pollo loco a few times and all I can say is that their menu and meals are great! I love how the bbq the whole chicken on the grill and it's always fresh and delicious! It helps me get my protein for lunch. I tried the salads, bowls and nachos and they are so fresh and delicious! This place is definitely underrated to be honest. I am so happy to have this restaurant near my office and give me the opportunity to come for lunch here and eat some really great fresh healthy food. The restaurant is always clean and taken care of. I have only had El Pollo Loco once and that saddens me to say that because the food and service was SO AMAZING!! The lady ringing us up was extremely personable and we loved her hilarious banter. She was the sweet lady ever. She made helped us making a decision for the amount of food for our family of 6. What tacos are the best and being cost efficient as well. The tacos were so amazing, we wanting to keep eating but couldn't we were all so full. The restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms were very clean. Very impressed. We will definitely come back and we will most likely use them as an event food vendor for future events. read more

Since writing my previous review, I've been back a bit more than half a dozen times. It's significantly worse than before, except for the side dishes. The side dishes are just as mid as they've always been, but the entrees are what have been lacking tremendously. As mentioned in a previous review, I always get the Queso Blanco burrito. They have been charging the same prices, but really skimping on the amount they put inside of it. This is consistent, where the burritos are barely filled. The food inside, especially the meat, have been really rubbery or hard. Fast forward to the worst offender, on 6/23/23 I ordered my usual Queso Blanco burrito. I always order it without guacamole since I'm extremely allergic. I got the smallest burrito I've gotten from them, and I began eating it. It was halfway through the burrito I noticed the green in it. They had added guacamole, and so the rest of my shift at work I was bedridden in our breakroom, popping, Benadryl, questioning when or if I was going to need an ambulance. The overall theme of this location is a lack of caring. Putting guacamole in my burrito despite me stressing not to put it in, smaller and smaller burritos, not rolling the burritos tightly, or even rubbery or hard meats. These mistakes are showing that lack of caring or attention to detail. The allergic reaction from putting guacamole in was the last straw for me. I don't plan on coming back to this location. If you have allergies and ask them not to put something inside, double check before you bite into it. read more

Wow..just wow... Im not sure if im going to come here again after the snotty treatment I just got. I ordered my food & wanted to use the app for a dollar off the meal. The woman at the counter told me I needed to lete her know about discounts before ringing up my order....so the re rang it...after using my app discount I noticed that the total was about tge same as before....Some discount! A few min later, I went to get my food & asked for an extra salad dressing...& the same woman sharply said they are 50 cents extra...& then walked away...totally ignoring me...I was never told of the extra charge & I get one all the time as the salads are sparsely topped....I might have paid the 50 cents, but this woman just turned her back & walked away!! It's been a long time since I've eaten at a Pollo Loco. Came in today because I was doing laundry at the laundromat nearby. When I came in there was no employees inside. It took a few minutes for someone to come to the register. Between the loud music, masks, and plexiglass the guy at the register kept asking me the same questions because he could not hear my response. The chicken is very dry and the mashed potatoes have zero flavor. There is no salt or sauce in sight. Satisfied my lunch appetite but I would not come back. Best thing about it is vitamin water. We consistently have a good take-out experience at this Folsom location. The chicken is always perfectly grilled! We recently tried the Birria Taco box at the Sunnyvale location & we were very excited to try it at the Folsom location. At the Folsom location: We ordered the shredded beef Birria Crunchy Tacos box & shredded beef Birria Grilled Burrito box with an extra side of Birria consomé dipping sauce and two small side salads. Everything was prepared & cooked perfectly! So delicious! We were a bit disappointed that they ran out of the cute little boxes that these Birria meals are supposed to come in. So our items were just placed in a plastic carry out bag. And our meals did not come with the small side of tortilla chips you see in the pictures on the menu for the Birria meals. At the Sunnyvale location: our Birria meal was nicely packed in the box with a small side of chips. We were also given lots of l little salsas for the chips. It would be great if these Birria meals were packaged the same way at all El Pollo Loco locations (as advertised) so customer expectations can be met. read more

It's been a while since I had pollo Loco. I went thru the drive Thru received our order in a timely manner. I did notice the cleanliness of the store from the drive thru window. I notice how clean the floors and especially the trash can that's by the soda machine was a light clean but clean. All the chicken was out on grill so nice and perfect. Food was fresh and delicious. Cashier was kind and friendly. I ask her if the manager was working she said yes, so I told her tell your manager store looks great! I was a GM for 20 years and I have an eye for detail. They had some of the best chicken around blew away Kentucky fried chicken but anymore they just overcook it.. With the intent of enjoying a healthy lunch, I ordered a shredded chicken and cheese bowl and added on avocado slices. What a disappointment. What I received was a few shreds of chicken jerky I couldn't chew (it must have sat under heat lamp for a long duration in its previous life), a small portion of beans (maybe 1/4 cup) and a full bowl of rice. I made the mistake of adding avocado slices for an extra $2 for exactly a total of a 1 inch portion of avocado sliced into 4 pieces. Although I am not a huge fan of El Pollo Loco (previous review because orders wrong) mostly because they are skimpy on the chicken for the price paid. But... I received a good offer to try their new crunchy chicken tacos and OH BOY!! They are phenomenal! I don't know how they get the shell so crunchy and it doesn't get soggy? The chicken is shredded and in a light and mild "tinga" sauce whatever that is, not sure, but it taste delicious! For $2.99 hands down and by far beats the other 3-4 taco places down the street! So happy I saw the deal in my email because otherwise I would likely have not tried them. I also ordered in the ap and the food was hot and fresh right when they said it would be. I love El Pollo Loco, but am so disappointed in my first try at this location. We went through the drive through, ordered a chicken tostada salad, fries without the tapio seasoning, and churros. We got home to realize I didn't get the dressing for my salad, and there was zero cinnamon/sugar on my churros.. then we discovered the fries had the tapitio seasoning on them. We drove all the way back and I went inside. The staff didn't even seem apologetic. They gave me new churros and fries, then I had to ask again for my dressing. Now I'm home and eating and so disappointed because the chicken is so dry, it's not edible. So I spent an hour and $13 on cold fries/ churro and rice and beans. :( read more

I waited 10 minutes by the drive-thru speaker and no one answered. I then pulled up to the window and waited another 4 minutes. A girl came to the window, said someone would help me and then left. Then I watched two young gentleman and a woman talking to one another. They knew that I was at the drive thru but did not acknowledge me. When they finally came to the window, they wanted me to pay. I let them know that no one had taken my order, and it seemed like they didn't know what to do. Finally, they took my order and when I tried to order flour tortillas, the said they were all out. When I wanted to order a quesadilla for my son, they said they were all out of cheese. When we got home to eat the chicken it was very dry and looked burned. This isn't the first time that I have received poor service at this location. About a month ago, I went through the drive-thru and they were out of chicken. I will not be returning to this location ever again. Better off going to the Citrus Heights location, despite the fact that it's 30 minutes away from Folsom. read more

Went here for lunch today and have been excited to try their whole wings. Dining in, I ordered the 3 wing meal garlic and cotija with fries. The lady taking my order was very kind and asked all the right questions for my order. When my order was called, I went to the counter and seen my plate. I began to laugh out loud and the girl who placed the order on the counter immediately knew the reason for my reaction. My 3 WHOLE wings and fries looked like a butchered field mouse grilled over a camp fire on a stick. Im sure cuisine on the reality show Naked and Afraid is far more meaty and juicy. I asked the server if this was a joke? She was kind and knowing this plate was ridiculous, said she has no control over the size of the wings and the fries are weighed for portion control. Of course I understand all of this and hold no blame for her or the cook. I just feel common sense has to come into play at some point and the manager should not allow such crap to leave the kitchen. We just picked up a meal this evening Wednesday Feb10th at 7pm. It was a 10 piece family meal with chicken rice corn and guacamole. The rice was scraped from the bottom of the pan and was so over cooked there were burnt pieces all stuck together. The chicken as well was nuked ! The skin was burnt and peeled off like sand paper. The meat was so dry you couldn't even eat it. And the guacamole i didn't have the pleasure of trying since it was not included in the bag. This was the worst meal ever and it's only called healthy since its inedible ! Last time we will ever ever buy from here again and i recommend you all avoid this place since they don't give a damn about quality control! read more
