I came in today with an offer not on the app but sent to my personal email... The counter girl can only do what the offers on the app are... I get it she was confused about the email. There was nothing for her or a Manger I was dealing with to scan... Working for a Corporation in the food industry can be exhausting, believe me I know... I left the restaurant wanting to contact the District or Regional Manager just to inform them that store level employees need better help/training when information technology let's them down. So I printed a copy of the email and asked for this special in the restaurant. Their restaurant would not honor it. Ordered a burrito with chicken and avocado and a side of chips and guacamole. After biting into burrito I notice there is no avocado, so I tell the girl at the counter that my burrito has no avocado. She asks if I was sure, like I could miss the green stuff in my burrito. She asks me to show her, so I took the burrito apart and she was still skeptical. As others have said, normally, I am a big fan of El Pollo Loco, but not this location. On one occasion when we dined in, I was almost afraid that we were going to get food poisoning, based on the general appearance of the restaurant. Few of the open tables were cleaned, the salsa bar had large spills all around the salsa containers and the napkin holders were all empty. Luckily, the food was OK and none of us got sick. Our most recent visit was to the drive-thru Saturday night. We ordered 2 of the tostada salads and a chicken burrito, as well as churros. My husband specifically asked for extra salsa, as we like to use that as salad dressing on our salads. When he got home, they had provided only 2 each of the green and the pico de gallo, for 3 adult entrees! The chicken in the tostada salads was burned and not properly cut, with almost whole pieces dried out and full of gristle. I wish this EPL was as good as other locations in the East Valley, specifically the ones at Arizona Mills and on Baseline and McClintock in Tempe. Hell, even the ghetto EPL located in a strip mall in a questionable area of Norwalk, CA consistently produces better product than the Goodyear store. PLEASE EPL Management, check in on the Goodyear store, give the employees better training and produce the quality food and service we've come to expect from EPL!! read more

I absolutely love El Pollo Loco. I absolutely hate *this* El Pollo Loco. Here's why: I have been there three times. The last two times, they've gotten something wrong with my order. One time, they didn't give me any cilantro dressing. This time, they gave me half the normal amount of dressing, and they didn't give me the cheesecake chimichanga I ordered. Not only this, but the drive-thru is very, very slow. Each time I've gone, it's taken quite a long time to get my food, and each person at the window has to sit for one to two minutes on average (or longer). Finally, the quality of the food I do get is subpar when compared to other EPL's standards. The chicken is overcooked and stringy, and the tortilla strips in my salad were soggy. Keep in mind that I got home within 4 minutes and the strips were still soggy even before putting the small amount of cilantro dressing I got into the salad. I've been to this location probably about a half dozen times. I always try to give a place a couple of tries (unless it's a one time large expense like a vehicle purchase or a big move) before giving them any type of review... especially if it's something like fast food or quick serve. I typically come here either during typical lunch hour and occasionally during dinner time. Each time that I've come I've dined in so can't comment much on the drive-thru service. As far as 'fast food' goes, this is definitely one of the top for me. The food I've had is always good... I've had their grilled chicken, pollo bowl, soft tacos, and tamales. Granted, tamales were a touch dry but I'm not a fan of tamales that much so I always find them dry (I also paid $5 bucks for the meal and didn't have to listen to someone tell me how their whole family spent eight hours making them). Chicken has always been good here as have the sides that I've ordered. Salsa bar always has been in stock when I was there and never had any service issues or cleanliness issues. Sometimes I get someone nice and outgoing to take my order, sometimes quiet and just takes my order. It's fast food... unless you are rude, I'm not getting offended. The one thing I like the most is that it is a healthy (one of the healthiest) option for fast food and they still have plenty of $5 specials and full meal options. If you're avoiding this place due to the 1 star reviews, do yourself a favor and take a look at most of the profiles doing so (most, not all)... mostly full of 1 star reviews where you'd swear the employee spit in their food, cut their tires and took their child seat out of the car for good measure. Kind of the problem with Yelp these days... people review everywhere as if they are at Dominick's or Durant's or something. Short version: $50 drive-thru visit. Missing half of the order, other half was incorrect. Rude, condescending staff that will not try to correct their mistakes and blame you instead. Don't come here. Plenty of other places that will service you faster with better food and decent customer experience. Long version: The visit begins with the drive-thru, upon which we waited for a longer-than-usual period, to the point where the cars behind us were honking. We ordered a mixed 8-pc. chicken meal, a salad, and 2 burritos, coming to about a $50 bill. We come home and see not only do we not have the burritos or salad but the chicken MIX had no chicken breast pieces. We also do not have a receipt, which was supposed to be left inside the bag. This is already a huge inconvenience. I have to now drive back to the store and try to get the food that I paid for. I was met by unhelpful employees that left me waiting at the counter. After I explained the situation, they simply saw no way they could help me so they ignored me. Did not help that I was already furious that I had to stand there like an idiot when I just wanted the food I already paid for. When I finally spoke to the shift lead, Israel Castillos, he was rude and condescending. I am not the type of person that goes out of their way to write reviews or contact managers but in this case, I have to. The fact that I had go all the way back to the store to get food I already paid for is upsetting enough. When I told him that I wasn't given a receipt (which we checked the bags and entire car to find) he scoffed at me and looked at me like I was lying. He told me they would give us what we were missing and that's it. When I suggested maybe an apology, he said he already apologized over the phone (my sister had to call while I was already there so she could speak to somebody since I was being ignored) so I guess there was no need to apologize to me. That's fine. Israel didn't have to be so rude about it. I wasn't rude to him. I let him know that I hated to be that person, but I would have to contact his managers and leaving a review so I can warn other patrons not to waste their money and time with this location like I unfortunately did. His reply was: "Perfect!" Name of the shift lead: Israel Castillo. Name of GM: Shelby Auniller, who I did not have the pleasure of speaking with. If you're going to use the drive-thru for it's convenience, be sure to check all of your bags. You might as well unwrap your food at the window and open the boxes and make sure it's exactly as you asked for. Be sure they give you a receipt and don't assume this place has decent customer service--they don't. In hindsight, it's funny the shift lead would look at me like I was a lying cheat for claiming I was not given a receipt when I already wasn't given a full half of my meal. Sure. The receipt is the smoking gun. Please train your staff. Your shift lead ISRAEL CASTILLO needs to be re-trained in customer service and basic common sense. Soooo yummy!!!! We came late after a long day at an event just as they were closing. The employees were so kind and hospitable towards us and let us stay later.
