I'm back...with family this time. Today is busier than Friday but the wait wasn't long at all. Tracy is an excellent server. She's engaging, knows the best selections and gives good suggestions. The Croissant rolls are too yummy. The Wisconsin Cheese Bites are a good choice for an appetizer. I selected the Fall-Off-The-Plate Baby Back Ribs with Red Beans & Rice and Green Beans as my sides. The taste of the green beans grew on me. A full rack is definitely two meals. Ok, I don't know about these reviews here. I personally came with a family group and had a great time. Our server was by far the best I've had in a long time. I was shocked how many times he not only check on us, but the fact he carried all six entrees with him. He was on top of everything, funny, and just great at his job. Especially with how busy the night was. I was not expecting the croissants in the beginning. Like who decided to make some of the most complicated breads? They were light, fluffy, buttery, and sweet. Kind of reminded me of the taste of sweet bread with a crisp from the layers. I think it's genius of them to have this as their bread identity. I ordered the corn meal crusted white fish with red beans & rice and broccoli. It was a hefty plate and I definitely had leftovers. I loved the steamed broccoli and it had garlic sauteed with it. I asked her for change for a $20 since I like to leave cash as tips. She informed me I would have to wait for a while to get my change. Ok. I figured maybe a couple minutes. After watching her walk past us several times without any acknowledgment I press the service button. She came to the table with an attitude and said "do you need something?"! Yes, I need my change. I brought my dad here to try a different restaurant other than Black Bear Diner. He's a creature of habit and likes what he likes. As long as it's American comfort food I knew he'd find something he would like. I thought he would order the chicken strips and fries but he surprised me and ordered meatloaf. I tried it and thought it was just ok. He liked and enjoyed it so that's all that matters. I ordered the country fried chicken with country gravy. The chicken was crispy and juicy. It was really good. The gravy and mashed potatoes were delicious, the green beans could've been seasoned they were kind of bland. For our entrees we had the BBQ ribs with broccoli casserole and corn, as well as the chicken pot pie. To be honest...Marie callenders frozen chicken pot pie is far more flavorful than cheddars. The ribs were ok, the flavor was great and the price was great but they were rather dry. Overall our experience was great because our server Ethan made it quite an enjoyable experience for us, as quality service is hard to come by nowadays. For apps we got the Onion Rings which were a good quantity but a little soggy for me I definitely prefer the beer battered type, We also got the Wisconsin Cheese bites and they were really good and came with a good amount. Now for the entrees I ended up getting the Monte Cristo which was good but different since it is like fair food and fried in batter but had really good flavor. We also got the Lemon pepper chicken with vegetables and I will say the chicken was amazing such good flavor and so juicy. I love Darden restaurants in general for their service. They just know how to train people correctly. That being said the food here, is subpar, next to other Darden restaurants. I sat at the bar for lunch recently, and it's the first time I've had bad service. He was actually super rude, and for the most part I was ignored. I thought maybe he was just like that, and then a group of business men came in and he treated them like kings. Maybe it was because I was by myself and he didn't think he was gonna get a good tip? I don't know what the reason was, but he was mistaken, because I'm in the business, and I'm a great tipper. I still gave him more than he deserved because that's how I am. I should change that. Tonight was quite disappointing.. though our server was accommodating.. our corner booth was freezing and the A/C had to be turned off...the appetizers were tasty but brought out cold, (after we specifically asked for them to be hot - same problem we had on previous visit) we sent them back to be reheated. Food choices looked good but tasted quite ordinary... with sides of carrots and corn both arriving cold. Desserts looked good, so we ordered up.. a mistake since long hair was found deep in the ice cream/chocolate cake. This obviously ruined our evening. Manager was apologetic and did offset the bill. Food: 3-stars - My friends and I had a pretty big order for take-out. We had 6 entrees and 4/6 were messed up somehow. My wife's chicken and broccoli Alfredo was dry (hardly any sauce), the chicken was rubbery and broccoli was soggy. Also, her garlic bread was soggy and had a foamy texture. My country fried chicken should have included fries and a side of broccoli but the person taking our order put down a baked potato instead of fries. My friend's Cesar salad was DRENCHED in dressing even though we requested for the dressing on the side. Another order of country fried chicken did not receive its correct sides. But apparently the T-Bone steak and cheeseburger meals were prepared properly and tasted pretty good. So overall, would like to give them another chance when dining in, but definitely did not like our first experience with from this Cheddars in Goodyear. Service: 3-stars - The person taking down our order must have had a tough time hearing our order over the phone because they messed up on quite a bit of details. Although our order was pretty bad, we called back to voice our complaints and the manager was able to give us a refund for 4 of the 6 entrees. I'm sure the manager was just fed up with hearing about our complaints, and offered that as a quick resolution; the manager was not apologetic and did not voice any sympathy. And when I said thank you, the manager just hung up. Pretty sure he could use some managerial training, but I get it, we're all human and can get irritated in the hospitality business. However, stellar customer service does still exist in this industry and it's unfortunate this place does not embody that. So 3 stars is pretty fair for my experience. Ambiance: Cannot give a fair review as we ordered for take-out. So will be giving update once we have a chance to dine in. Overall: 3-stars.
