    Very wet sandwich and fries

The owners need to be here working. When you have two people working and people walking out, owners need to be here helping out. There are 17 orders being processed and no other orders are being taken. The staff that was here quite. Come on people. Your business was striving before you moved. Great food. Why do I need to wait two hours just to order. If my daughter wasn't here visiting and wanting this, I would have walked out like the other people. The sandwich was wet from the cold slaw. Before they would put cold slaw on the chicken it would not be wet running down the sandwich. Not worth the visit. I will not return.

I went to their brick n mortar location couple of weeks ago and wasn't impressed with the food at all. It seems that the quality has changed from their food truck days. I ordered the sandwich and the chicken was ok. It was not flavorful and the buns were like barely luke warm. Fries were fine. Service is a little different. Order at counter and then pickup food at counter. For drinks like ice tea, no refills are provided. Food was presented in plates on trays with utensils. It felt very weird. Not impressed. This is a closed chapter.

Food: super bold flavors and so worth the money!! They stuffed our plates to the brim and about $12-$14 per dish. Went around 12:30 on a Monday so it was a little slow. Service was normal: order at the front and they brought it to my number. Leave the empty dish at the table and they take care of it! Simple set up inside but recommend for a guilty quick lunch! The cashier said it's really spicy, but it really wasn't at all. Wish it was spicier! PS. Check the back of your HEB receipt for BOGO coupon, I saw it right after our meal haha.

I really love Mico's, which is why this is disappointing to write. During the day, the food is usually great, but the last two times I've gone near closing time, the chicken seemed completely different almost like it was freshly breaded at home rather than the quality I'm used to from Mico's. My most recent order was over $50, and unfortunately all of us ended up throwing our sandwiches away because the seasoning was extremely salty and overpowered everything else. Since it was close to closing time, we weren't allowed to dine in, so we drove 20 minutes back home before realizing how disappointing the meal was. I genuinely enjoy Mico's and have had many great experiences there, but the consistency near closing time has been noticeably different on my last two visits. I hope this feedback helps because I'd love to continue supporting the restaurant.

We've heard about Mico's and finally decided to give it a a try! Food was good but service and atmosphere was sub-par. Stopped by on a Sunday around 5 and it was pretty dead - but tables were dirty and nobody willing to take orders. We both ordered the Signature Sandwich with waffle fries - spice levels (hot and mild). Flavor was great and would love to try their tenders in the future. Worth the try but improvements to service and upkeep are needed.

LOYALTY REWARDS ARE OFFERED HERE! Remember to enter your number at the end of payment! Still so GOOOOOD just like I remember years ago! Congratulations on the new indoor location. Beautiful location, neighbors with HEB & Kats in the heights, They went away with the blueberry lemonade, (that was my fav. ). Now they make their own! I didn't try it on this visit! I stop by here to bring my son who was telling me about a place that looks very similar to Mico's. I was excited to share this location with my soon to be birthday boy. It just happens to be right after we left brunch, so we did a shareable. (Nothing. They offer, we just ordered the loaded fries). Nice size portions as before. We taking half home, even after sharing one order (after breakfast). We got "No Heat". But it taste a bit more like mild heat. But the flavor was so fire we didn't even complain! Service very friendly. I like that the ladies here have beautiful style and grace. We will return!!!

I honestly think take-out is the way to go here. I was very excited to see this place moved indoors, but they really need to work on front-of-house logistics. The cashier showed no urgency, and when they ran out of mac and cheese, we were told to choose another side... but oddly, salad wasn't allowed even though it was listed as a side (?). There's plenty of space inside to sit after you order. Food came out in a reasonable time, but we had to ask on separate occasions for water, then silverware, then napkins, and then sauce... none of which were provided up front or when the food came out. That being said though, the food itself was as good as I remembered from the outdoor stand. Chicken is crunchy, juicy, and perfectly spicy (I'd stick with mild if you're sensitive). The toast comes glazed with sugar and pairs so well with the spicy chicken. And the Mico's sauce and hot honey are the best sauces to go with the chicken. I'd definitely come back, but will probably stick to takeout moving forward.

service was quick and friendly! i would recommend the mild for those who cannot do spicy but still want the flavour of the seasoning!

    Fried pickles and classic sandwich

Stopped here in the middle of a storm before heading to the airport and I couldn't have been happier with my final meal in Houston. Really enjoyed loaded fries and fried pickles that was recommended by staff. Also got the wings and sandwich, light n crispy breading, great spice on the medium probably wouldn't be able to handle the hot. Banana pudding was perfect texture not too sweet, great single size serving. Thank you Alondra, Ashley, Jacob and Rocky for the great service!

Really fast service and the patio was nice. The chicken sandwich (medium heat) was absolutely delicious! I loved the nice sweet heat paired with the crisp pickle and coleslaw. The bun was also nice and fluffy and toasted nicely. The chicken fries were also very good. Good crispy fries and generous with the sauce and chicken. We got hot chicken on these and I kinda of regretted it but it was delicious. The hot is very spicy even for someone with a high spice tolerance.

THE BEST fried chicken spot in Htown by far! Whether you get a sammich or tenders you are in a good spot! Spice level is awesome as well. You can already feel the kick with the medium spice level. It gets busy during dinner hours so either prepare yourself for it or stop by for lunch. Plenty of outside seating available but no inside seating at all so you will have to to go it if the weather isn't nice. Overall 9/10 for me! We will be back!

    Jordan W.

Still one of the best hot chicken places in Houston in my opinion. The heat levels are true medium is actually what you would expect it to be so spicy is actually really spicy. If you like hot food, I recommend medium, but if you can handle the heat get the spicy, but you might regret it later. I usually place my orders to go. I have not been in their new brick and mortar yet, but I plan to visit soon. Occasionally I will pair my loaded fries with a strawberry lemonade. The frozen version is my favorite.

    Loaded Fries

Horrible! The worst thing I've had in a long time. I called and the manager wanted me drive 10 minutes back to and for them to re make it instead of a simple refund! No chicken just crust and the fries tasted like old oil. It looks so nasty too :///

Ask the Community - Mico’s Hot Chicken

    Is this location halal again?

    Can we still order online?

No. Which is pretty ridiculous in a pandemic.

Do they only serve spicy food?

They have different levels of spice - I would go with lowest level of spice. Still very flavorful!

    What are the spice levels?

There's mild that has almost no spicy, medium is a perfect spicy but not unenjoyable, and hot is running boogers from your nose and red lips

    Are they BYOB?

    Yes

    I don't believe they're halal anymore?

    This location is not

Are they open during this virus?

Yes! Even better, they have online ordering at https://www.toasttab.com/mico-s-hot-chicken-1603-n-durham-dr/v3…

Passed by Mico's today 12/29/19 around 5pm and they were closed, yet Yelp says "open" what's up Mico's?

On that day I think they were catering the Texans and now they've moved to the heights.

What kind of oil do y'all fry in?

    Good oil

    Can you call in orders?

Check out their website for their number. The best bet is to order online.…

What time do they open on Saturday?

Right now they are open Thursday through Sunday 12-8 but it's best to watch their Instagram bc they've changed them a few times

How do you place an online order?

Currently not accepting online orders, but will update when that changes!

Trying to find it at the address provided - Shell gas station. Is there a better way to find truck?…

They moved to 2829 Chimney Rock Rd. by the Galleria two weeks ago. Their address and hours show up on Google Maps. :)

    Hours of operation?

Current hours are Thurs. - Sunday 11am-9pm.

The add ons of the various butters and toppings are just the icing on the cake (biscuit?). The restaurant also just has a great vibe and the service was friendly and helpful. We also were always able to ask for recs and got some good ones, especially regarding happy hour prices and items. The shrimp, oysters, fried chicken, mac and cheese and drinks were amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and complemented each other. And to top it all off, the lemon bread pudding was an absolute delight! I definitely want to go back to try all the things I did not have room to try this time!

When…read morewe entered into the restaurant she didn't greet us & her body language made it seem like we were bothering her. I don't require much and I'm easy going so for her to treat us that way is crazy, but you do you. Just thank the hostess for a minus 1 star. Once seated we were greeted by Gigi, she was the total opposite from the hostess. She was kind and energetic, not the most attentive but she was hella busy so I can't blame her for it. I decided to order a handful of items for my friend and I to try. * Sweet tea- delicious southern style tea, wish it could've been a tad sweeter. 4/5 * Not my mama's biscuit- hot, fresh, soft, fluffy, pillowy. The strawberry jam was delicious and homemade. I wasn't a fan of their bacon jam & the honey butter was good. 4.4/5 * Everything gumbo- not the best gumbo I've had but if you brought that to my house for a potluck I'll eat it. Shrimp was seasoned to perfection, sausage okay. 3/5 * Catfish & Fried chicken combo with collard greens- The chicken was fried hard and seasoned nicely. I know for sure they brine that chicken overnight. The meat itself wasn't bland at all. Batter was crispy & had lots of flavor. I would come back just for their chicken. Catfish was also fantastic with a nice cornmeal batter. Fish could've been fried a little harder. Collard greens were vinegary & has some kick to it. They also had bones in the greens which adds more flavor but remember to take them out if you still want your teeth. 4/5 * Blackened catfish with green beans- definitely not my favorite tbh. The tomato-garlic beurre blanc sauce was not it. If you look at the plate all you see is oil. Which made the dish extremely oily. The fish itself was definitely blackened but barely any seasoning. Green beans were also alright & needed to be cooked longer. Once again as I stated in my other reviews, I can't stand when restaurant doesn't cut the ends of the green beans, please cut em. 2.5/5 * H-town hot sandwich with Mac & Cheese- good quality bread, chicken was fried hard with a Viet-Cajun sauce smothered all around it. Mac and cheese was firm just how I like it but taste wise it was just mid. 3.5/5 * Cast Iron peach crumble- a little too sweet for my liking, but I do like that they added salt to balance out the sweetness. The pecans adds texture to this dessert but I can do without it. 4/5. Overall, the food was a 4, Gigi was fantastic and the other staff I've interacted were great, but yall thank the hostess once again for that minus one. Even though the food was only a 4/5, if she was fake nice to us I would've given this place a 5. Sometimes you gotta fake it till you make it but she didn't even hide the fact that she didn't want us there. Will I come back? Heck yeah, the fried chicken is legit good. By the way, there are a whole bunch of reviews combining with google/yelp that the hostess is rude. She's hurting the business, she just lucked out that I'm nice enough not to give less than 3 stars based on her customer service.

It was a lot of food and somehow it was all hot, fresh, and honestly really good. I love a sweet and savory combo when I'm expecting it, and this place definitely delivers. The waffles reminded me a lot of classic Waffle House waffles and the tenders were huge and actually seasoned well. The loaded fries were seriously loaded too. Lots of sauce, lots of meat, and we definitely didn't feel cheated. We were stuffed and still had leftovers. The only thing I personally wasn't crazy about were the Fryders. I think mini waffles as buns would've been better, but they weren't bad and my friend scarfed them down. Service was quick once we ordered and the staff was super chill. They let us sit there gossiping and picking at food for almost three hours without making us feel rushed, which I really appreciated. A couple small complaints though. Ordering is only through the iPads so you don't really get to ask questions, and the tables could definitely be wiped down a bit more often. Also the AC could be turned down a little... it was pretty cold in there. That said, the prices are actually pretty reasonable for The Heights. I spent a little over $50 myself and didn't feel scammed one bit considering how much food we ordered. Funny enough we originally tried to go to their Alabama location on Sunday but the line was out the door and parking was a nightmare. My friend literally drove off and told us to cancel. We ended up driving about 26 minutes to this location instead and honestly I'm glad we did. Great food, quick turnaround, and a fun spot to hang out for a while. We'll definitely be back.

I saw some people sitting down, but there wasn't much sitting area available for to go orders so it was kind of awkward a bit, but I will say the layout of the restaurant would allow for you to set a table and wait so that could be another option as well. The setup is very fast casual and the inside is well lit and clean. Even the drink and condiment area was nicely organized. Honestly, I must return because I do like spiciness so if you do as well, the kickin Kay or buffalo Barclay will surely do the trick. truthfully, the kicking Kay would be my choice, but if you are not a spicy person, but you do like savoriness than the sassy Scotty will surely do the trick. So if you are near Chicken Salad Chick today, I would highly recommend downloading the app and checking them out. Even if you are not able to go today, apparently you can redeem the offer in the app and use it within 90 days. So there's no rush. The only thing that I wish I would've known was that you can sample the chicken salads so utilize this as a pro tip when choosing. As it definitely would have detoured my decision based off of the recommendation that the cashier gave me. Luckily, I did like the sassy Scotty, but I would have ultimately chose something else if I would have known that I could sample the chicken salad prior to ordering. The only reason why I knew that was because I overheard the manager, offering it to the customers after me. Not a knock on the cashier that assisted me, but it should definitely be something offered if they know that customers are indecisive.

It's been over 5 years since I've tried Chicken Salad Chick back when a friend recommended it when…read moreI lived in the north side of Houston. I didn't know there was one in Memorial until my administrative assistant suggested it for her birthday with lunch. We were all glad she did because we actually loved it. We dined in on a Wednesday afternoon. The place is somewhat hidden down Gaylord Street behind A Moveable Feast where we ate at for another manager's birthday lunch. The GPS might throw you off a bit. The parking strip is pretty busy, but you can still find a couple spots. It was kind of empty when we came in just before noon. It did get busy after that. You line up and order at the registers, and they give you a number marker to deliver your meal to your table. There's partial booth and low table seating inside. There's fountain drink and tea at the far end of the dining area towards the single gender restrooms. I don't remember what I tried years ago, so I went with the one scoop and two sides. I had the traditional Classic Carol, loaded potato soup and grape salad. My admin asst raved about it, so I had to try. Plus, I needed some fruit in my life. The Classic Carol is plain with celery, mayo and their secret seasoning. I liked that the celery was not overpowering. In fact, I couldn't really see it. I thought it was ok paired with the wheat crackers. I shared some with my other coworker who ordered Olivia's Old South which has sweet pickles and hard boiled eggs. I think I liked that version better. I would like to try the Cranberry Kelli next time which has dried cranberries and slivered almonds. I've had all kinds of chicken salad. It's one of my faves at HEB and will order chicken salad sandwiches at different delis. I grew up with my family making chicken salad, as well. The loaded potato soup was great. It came topped with crispy bacon pieces and shredded cheese. The cup of soup was hot and had nice chunks of potato. The potatoes were soft and perfectly cooked. I ate about half the chicken salad scoop with crackers since the soup made me full. I tried the grape salad and saved the rest. It was delicious. It has a sweet cream cheese sauce over the grapes and is topped with a sprinkle of brown sugar and chopped pecans. My admin asst was right! I also liked their tea, which I mixed with sweet and unsweetened. Other items our group enjoyed was the pimento cheese sandwich, chicken melt and the small sugar cookies the meals came with. I gave mine away. This is definitely a great lunch place option. It's right off the I-10 freeway, so it's nearby a lot of work places including ours. I'm sure we'll be back here even though it is a little pricey. My meal was about $15-16. As a side note, I'm glad we didn't experience having large pieces of cartilage in our chicken salad as other reviews mentioned.
