This is the first time that I have eaten out at this El Pollo Loco Restaurant in San.Diego, CA. I invited my good friend Michelle to come with me to this new Mexican Restaurant. I ordered from the Menu Board today. I told Jose that I would like to order (One Double Chicken Avocado Salad Bowl). This lunch meal does includes one Free Soft Drink of my choice . I chose my favorite soft drink was Sprite. Jose gave me friendly, fast, and excellent customer service today for my lunch order. Every one of their staff that was working hard today at this El Pollo Restaurant gave me a very warm smile when I walked into their side entrance door. Also o noticed their floors were just recently mopped today and there were 2 people that were chopping up the fire grilled chicken meat into bite sized pieces and their grilled chicken meals has added spices and an oil based seasoning that is marinated and cooked with their Fire Roasted Grilled Chicken in order to give their chicken a really delicious flavor. I received my order on the Double Chicken Avocado Salad Bowl very quickly about 15 minutes later today. I had taken bites on these delicious chicken pieces with feta cheese, there were generous portions of these sliced avocados, kernel corn , and ice berg lettuce. Me and Michelle had a very healthy and delicious lunch salad today. My total cost was $11.59. Michelle ordered a regular Grilled Chicken Salad Bowl. Michelle paid $10.00 for her lunch today. I was very satisfied with eating their very healthy chicken salad bowl and drinking my favorite beverage the Sprite Soft Drink. read more

Honestly, I'm not sure what happened here but my family will never come back here again. We love El Pollo Loco (Ladera Heights and West LA). The food there is always moist, fresh and delicious. My family had just arrived to SD from LA (Thursday eve at approx 8:30pm) and thought we would grab a bite to eat. We were shocked when we opened our broccoli .. it didn't appeared to be cooked. It was dry, crunchy, raw and had dark brown/black spots on top (old). It had a strange strong taste as well. The chicken was tasteless and dry, as was the rice. The corn was just okay. Everything seemed like it was old and re-warmed. First off we came through the drive-through and kept asking if anyone was there (no answer for a while ... we thought they were closed). Finally, after our order was taken the young Latina lady who took our money didn't seem to happy to be working. She never smiled, poor eye contact and was dry during the entire transaction. We said nothing, thinking that the food would be delicious as we have always had in the past at other locations in Los Angeles. WRONG. PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE LEAVING THIS PLACE. $43.00 for the 8pc with 2 sides (plus an extra) without drinks is pricey enough but to get horrible food as well was just plain bad. Looks like they just opened for about one year, because I don't remember they ever here when I used to shop at Food 4less across the street, there is still construction going on, their drive thru was long, with very little parking, and super busy traffic around this shopping plaza and the trolley tracks were just not ideal for me, I went inside to check out everything, the design was very compact like a small alley squeezing as many stuffs as they could, also I am surprised they didn't accept EBT payment, I've been to multiple locations, further North from OC to LA areas, they take your EBT, but not here, in this low income margins, maybe they should do it in the future, unless this one is privately owned. read more

This location is the Best El Pollo location in San Diego. I never liked the chain in general because the chicken tends to be so dry. But not here, so far Its always been moist and juicy. I've gone to multiple locations up north (Mira Mesa) and South (National City). They have best chicken so far so props to the cooks here. read more

They did not listen to a paying customer. I ordered two pollo bowls one without rice and asked if they can substitute the rice for the beans and she kept saying "NO" we cannot do this. I mentioned the other location does it and she said it going to cost you more and I asked her if she can ask her manager which she obviously didn't do it. I let it go and still paid for no rice and extra beans. The girl brought out my food and I asked her 3 times is there rice and she said "NO" I got home and there was rice!! Like why can't people listen!!! What if I am allergic to flour and specifically asked for no rice for a reason!! This why fast food chains are so likely to get sued. read more

I gave up on pollo loco a few months back because I had a horrible experience somewhere else. At this location though... it took maybe 1 minute total for me to order my food, pay, and receive my meal. The workers are the reason why I will be coming back!
