This is a review of the drive-thru only. I went here at 11:30am on a Saturday morning (30 min after they opened). I ordered a large 16 piece family meal (legs/thighs), mashed potatoes/gravy, corn, flour tortillas, mac and cheese, loco side salad. I didn't eat the side salad because I forgot that lettuce may cause explosive diarrhea, lol. The food tasted amazing like always. I give it a 5/5 on the chicken. It was consistent with all other El Pollo Loco locations I've been to. My kids loved the mac and cheese with their chicken also. I was able to place a mobile order in advance through the app. I was fortunate to have a $10 off coupon! I grabbed the Street Corn Burrito Bowl, which came with chicken, pinto beans, rice, corn, and red peppers, Jack cheese, chipotle sauce, Cotija cheese, guacamole, cilantro, and salsa fresa. On the side, I requested corn tortillas and the complimentary salsas: 2x salsa fresca, 2x avocado salsa, and 2x salsa roja. The entire chicken bowl was beyond filling and tasty. The salsas + tortillas were incredible complements. The customer service was quick and friendly. The order was done on time as anticipated. I picked up the chicken bowl from the drive-thru line (luckily there wasn't a wait). This specific El Pollo Loco location consistently delivers delicious food. My first time at this location and I just live a couple miles away on 8 Mile Rd. I don't know why I thought this place only had chicken. Maybe that's when I was a kid and they first opened in Walnut Creek but I'm very impressed that there's burritos and bowls and all kinds of stuff I went through the drive-through had a great experience. So I went into Chipotle tonight and I went in around 10:56 and I know I know it was hecka late. It was not cool. I walked in and I could tell that they were like over it. The fact that I even walked in but the fact that Julissa was so professional. Great customer service. I loved this restaurant so much that I visited it almost everyday. But after getting Invisalign my teeth were too sore to eat anything but mashed potatoes and gravy. So I ordered their mashed potatoes and gravy. Large. Extra gravy. They charged me $7.98 for a large mashed potatoes. Okay with that. Then they charged me another $7.98 for extra gravy. What??? Why? I asked the cashier to ask the manager if that was correct and she did and she said it was correct. So, they f*cked up because I was a loyal customer with more than 152,000 reward points that I never used but I will never go back. That is the most unreasonable thing ever!! Yes, I am okay with charging me for extra anything but $7.98 for gravy that is not even the same size as the potatoes. You have lost my business forever. I have not been back and never will be. We came in yesterday for a late lunch. It was disappointing that they had no thighs / dark meat ready and it was going to be 20 minutes. I ordered the original chicken salad that comes in a tostada shell. It has rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo and chicken. The creamy cilantro dressing os excelent! I am very disappointed with the quality of food at El Pollo Loco on Trinity Parkway. I love the Chicken Avocado salad but, I've experienced dry, hard and tasteless chicken mixed with salad on more than one occasion. The first time I experienced this I thought, okay, just a bad salad today! The second and third time I experienced the same dry, rubbery, tasteless chicken in the salad, I was told the chicken is cooked fresh everyday ( of which it probably is, but that's not what's in the salads) I've bought Chicken Avocado salads at other El Pollo locations and not experienced this problem. We stopped at this El Pollo Loco for lunch on our road trip back home after a short trip to San Luis Obispo. When we were living in the Bay Area, El Pollo Loco was a frequent lunch or dinner choice, we loved the delicious chicken and all the other fixin's! And since we have not had this in a long, long time, we chose to stop here. Sadly, and I don't know if this is just at this place or all of them now, we found the chicken to be very small and overly dry. I was shocked to see the difference in size on our 2 separate plates. Both my husband and I ordered the 2 piece meal with breast and wing. On one plate the chicken breast was medium/small in size, but nothing too weird. On the other plate the breast looked barely bigger than a wing? What is that? I was like....why would they serve such a teeny piece? This should have been pulled and just eaten by the employees....or at least add another tiny piece to be fair. That's bad quality control. Doesn't anyone serving have common sense? Like, would YOU want to be served such a tiny piece, with almost zero meat on it? After paying $13? At any rate, we should have returned it, but my husband just took it and ate it as he did not want to make a big deal about it. The rice and beans also seemed bland. I am left frustrated with the Trinity Parkway location. Time and time again, I face issues with a lack in customer service and food preparation. Some things need to be addressed as the kids working here seem bothered that you're there. Many give dirty looks, are disrespectful in their responses, and are stingy with the smallest things - such as salsas, napkins, etc. Often the chicken is dry and portions vary which is disheartening when one is looking for consistency at El Pollo Loco. As I am sitting here like I do 3-4 times a week, I am so upset at how I have been treated today!! First, we made our order and then, as I usually do, I showed my military ID and asked for a discount. The cashier looked at me and then in a huff went I get the shift Manager. When she approached, she went over the order to see what we got and then said, "we have a new policy" I can only discount 1 meal and that will be the double chicken bowl. So, my wife and I just said okay if that's your policy.... Knowing we come here 3-4 times a week at least and this must be very new. And yes, it does help when we decide where to go knowing they give a decent military discount. So we wait and our food comes up and the girl slides the tray at me with not comment or anything. We are used to friendly staff but she is new. I asked for pico and she just grabbed some and tossed it on the tray. I then asked for utensils and she said "it's there" and I looked again to find only a spoon. So, I asked for a fork and she said, "for what that" and pointed to my chicken bowl. I said yes please. So she turned grabbed a fork and handed it to me, again with no friendliness. So I said, THANK YOU! And walked away. OMG, we will NOT be back anytime soon. This was my first time in two and El Pollo Loco, and I went in with a hesitancy regarding service and quality. The person at the counter was extremely friendly, helpful, and helped me navigate the "coupon page" including explaining the family dinner... The energy amongst the staff was incredible... There was laughter, talking, and total efficiency and concentration on the task at hand. When my to go order was ready, the same helpful person at the counter offered various salsas etc. ; all with an extremely friendly flair! We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the lady behind the counter. The store was clean and busy. I ordered a two piece with two sides for my husband, a chicken wrap and a chicken burrito & two small drinks. We got our food and everything seemed fresh. About 40 mins later I got sick and I mean sick. That was all I had for lunch and only a bagel for breakfast. My husband came home about 30 mins after that and he was sick too poor guy . I don't know if the food wasn't kept hot enough or what but I won't be returning. This was our first time here and our last. There is a full salsa bar that has a small but good amount of salsas. The $5 Ranchero bowl is pretty good. I had this several times and really enjoy it. I like to mix my chips into the bowl. That has pinto beans, rice and shredded chicken. I smother the top with salsa and tear it up. On my last visit I tried the $5 Caesar bowl. It's similar to the Ranchero bowl minus the beans. Also the chicken is in chunks and not shredded. It was cool enough for me. I saw that El Pollo Loco serves tacos. The masses refer them as Street tacos. I was a bit skeptical at first, I didn't want to be disappointed. I simply love tacos a lot. $1.89, I think that is the price. I just tried the Loco taco and well it wasn't that bad. The Loco Taco was definitely Loco. I love the fact there is outside seating. But Stocktanistan is so darn hot. So I'm super straight trying to eat outside and sweat bullets. I'll try the outdoor experience when the weather gets to my liking. The several visits, I had here everything was good. So I'll be definitely coming back like I have. Why the one star? Because this El Pollo doesn't care about dogs. After ordering my meal, I asked for a bowl so that I could fill it with water for my two doggies. They (Graciela) said "NO" and if I wanted a bowl, they would charge me. After asking again if I could at least have a cup, she finally gave me a small plastic cup. I love their Chicken Tortilla soup..we have been here several times to get it on the drive thru. It is totally delicious and broth-based with lots of shredded chicken, bits of veggies and comes with cilantro and crumbly white cheese to add along with the crispy tortilla strips. The service on the drive thru is fast and friendly and everything is perfectly packaged. I always love their yummy chicken and their creamy cilantro dressing is amazing. The Salsa bar was a mess, they were really busy so normally it would be understandable but what really got me is when an employee was taking their dinner break they set their tray on the messy counter and walked away without cleaning it up, take pride in the place you work and pick up the trash! First time here. Drive through menu seamed a little lite. But what isn't these days. Ordered the California queso burrito. The line went fairly smooth. I thought it would take longer. My one burrito took twice as long, at least, than the three cars in front of me. Pulled into the parking lot and tried my QUESO burrito. It tastes ok, but I don't taste any cheese yet. Half way into it I find bits of chicken, French fries, pinto beans, a slight green smeer that I assume is guacamole. No cheese yet. A few days ago, I stopped at this location to order two chicken tortilla rolls with light cheese. The rolls consist of chicken and cheese, which is rolled in a tortilla and then grilled. It's a small snack menu item. I'm used to paying no more than $2 per roll. However, a week ago I stopped at this location and my total was $5.86. Questionable, but I overlooked it because I was starved at that moment. The other day though...I pulled forward to pay and the guy told me that my total was $10.86. $10.86 for 2 chicken tortilla rolls? How? Like these are not burritos, not even close in size. I was flabbergasted, thinking maybe he didn't hear my order correctly. I proceeded to tell dude that I only ordered 2 chicken tortilla rolls with light cheese. He took a moment to talk to another employee near him, then returned to tell me that was the correct total...that they charged me more because they were adding more chicken since I asked for light cheese.
