Some time ago, I used to visit this store weekly. Then, one day I felt like something was off with the chicken tacos/burritos. The texture was strange, it tasted a little different, something. I was on a trip and needed to eat, so I finished one taco. When opening the next one, I saw what I could only describe as undercooked chicken. I trashed it. Hopes and prayers didn't do a darn thing... I ended up with terrible food poisoning about 10 hours later. I'm telling you, El Pollo Loco owes me for to days of pain and a pair of clothes after that incident... Undercooked chicken is DANGEROUS. Chicken here is pretty damn tasty and seems to be a hell of a lot healthier than KFC or Popeyes Chicken. We like to drive through and a lot of the time get the 10 piece chicken only. We take it home and heat it up for dinner with a bag salad and voila, we have a nice healthy dinner. The chicken is cooked with citrus and flame broiled with some herbs and spices that help create a great flavor profile. The staff at this location are fantastic and they extend a discount to us seniors. We have enjoyed their sides before and they also make some gosh darn good burritos. Add salsa and chips and you have an E ticket to Flavortown. Good food, good service, easy access, equals 5 stars in my book. read more

The last few times the girls in the drive thru have had the absolute worst attitude & it's like a burden for them to take your order. While I enjoy this place and have visited since I was young. I feel like their prices are a little much for what you receive. I have ordered sides of Mexican street corn multiple occasions, it's almost 4$! I think I should get a full bowl for $4, but as you can see it's like a mini side. I also got the USDA steak tacos & street tacos, which is always good no complaints. However on DoorDash I would not say it's worth 15$ (12$ in app) On DoorDash it's 5$. Placed an order through door dash. The food was subpar. Tostadas were smaller than usual and the contents were bleak. Both salads missing sour cream, avocado and the extra chicken. Unfortunately our only other option is the one over by the mall and that ones isn't any better. As for Door Dash we placed our order at 5:10pm and it took until 6:30pm to receive our order which by the way the driver couldn't find our house. I would give them zero stars if they let me. I ordered 2 chipotle avocado chicken burritos, which cost a $21.17. The burritos had more salad stuff in them and very little chicken. The also didn't have any chipotle sauce in them. I would've taken them back, but we were a few miles down the road. For the amount the burritos cost, there should be more chicken in them. This location is horrible... every time I order takeout from here there is something wrong! I always order my tostada salad with no lettuce and double chicken. This time I couldn't order it with no lettuce through door dash and I ordered double chicken. Hmm, i never thought I'd be reviewing an El Pollo Loco but they had a new menu item called Birria Tacos. We came by today to give them a try. I also ordered a bowl that came with beans, mild sauce, rice and chicken not sure what it was called. Our food was ordered and got to us in a timely manner. Now I have had authentic birria tacos before from local Mexican restaurants so I'm not going to compare them to that because I know this is a fast food establishment. I did think it was cool that they added this to the menu. The birria meal comes with chips, two tacos and consomé. As far as the tacos go they were so hard! I bit into it and it was so hard I was worried it would of chipped my tooth. The meat was also burnt on the ends. The consomé was okay to me. It had a salsa flavor to it, wasn't bad. My son didn't really enjoy his bowl. They didn't let all the juice from the beans drain before they just scooped it into the bowl so the rice was drenched it bean juice.. ew. It had a couple small pieces of chicken on top. In total I paid $41.80 for everything. I'm not extremely happy hence why I'm writing this review but I'm not really sure what to expect from el pollo loco as I don't come much. $11 for the birria taco meal that comes with the drink two tacos and the consomé. Overall, my experience here was ok. I guess if you are coming for the tacos it's alright. If you can't get the authentic birria tacos these are just alright. The manager was nice and helpful. Had dinner here tonight and went through the drive through. My drink was wrong (and overflowing and spilling out of the cup, through the lid, and all down the sides) my chicken was raw, and half of my order was missing from my meal. My mom's burrito was cold as if it had been sitting in a fridge all day, and our salsa lids all came flying off and spilt all over the bag. I had one bite of my bowl and the rest went into the trash so I wouldn't get sick from eating raw chicken. Honestly this is one of the best el pollo locos I have been to. Close to pechanga and the general location of this restaurant is near other fast food joints and mainstream businesses. The manager here is very friendly and made some great suggestions with ordering for two people. The chicken is piping hot and the sides are so well portioned (I've never seen a neater scoop of mashed potato and gravy) on the combination plate that it looks straight out of an advertisement. Pricing is about the same as any other el pollo loco, so expect to pay about $6 for a two piece combo with two small sides. I only wanted to review this joint because of how ridiculously good the food looks and the staff actually seems to care about their jobs. Much different than oc and LA stores, props to this place for hiring the right people. read more

This is a clean & quality fast food joint, specializing in grilled chicken. I've been frequenting Pollo Loco for 20+ years since getting introduced to them in LA. I've never tired of their fresh taste and quality sides. One note that I always adhere to is to ask for my chicken "Well done" or "bien hecho". This requires an extra 5 minutes cooking, but worth waiting for! I'd return for more grilled chicken. read more

I come here about twice a week for lunch as it is close to my work and after my disappointing and lackluster lunch today, I decided to turn to Yelp. The 2 stars that I left were for the staff as they are always hustling and the chicken which is consistently pretty good and predictable. My salad today was horrible with wilted and brown lettuce and brown avocado. It looked quite unappetizing and if I had eaten in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. I always use the drive thru at this location and frequently the voice box is broken which backs up the line into an unforgiving parking lot. Step it up EPL! Well this location is probably the flagship of how NOT to operate an EPL location. I moved back to this area after several years away from a lot of fast food places. EPL had previously been one of my favorite places. So ,in Sept., I was eager to go back. If I tell you that a drive-thru can screw up an order...well, that sure does happen. I ordered 2 large Chicken Tortilla Soups & a drink that was shown on the drive thru menu. I was told that drink is no longer available. I said, "Well, why not remove it from the menu?" (a 5 minute job). I go to the window & I asked the guy, "Are the little extras in the baggies that go with the soup?" He said, "We don't do that anymore." Holy moly---2 cents worth of cheese & a few tortilla strips--& that's gone? Gee. So I went home & told my family about that; my daughter said, "No that's not right--they still have the extras." I called & told the manager that I was disappointed & why did the guy lie about such a silly thing?" She did not offer any apology or even to "make it right." Well, because my daughter & granddaughter like to stop at that location (it's the closest one) I decided to get a gift card for my granddaughter. It was a $15 card, I did it online...I got a confirmation & still have the info on my phone & the e-mail. THAT WAS ON NOV 1. Around Nov 3, she went to redeem the gift card. She was told that they couldn't honor it. She then parked & went INTO the place to talk to THAT manager. No matter what we did...codes, screenshots of the gift card, my text to my granddaughter's phone...NOTHING worked. In between the 2 events I've just described, there were others. Wrong order, paid for a double chicken tostada & got a regular, etc. You get the idea. So, I also started telling the guy to SHOW me the ORDER before handing it to me. But I still wanted my granddaughter to have that stupid gift card. I called EPL customer service (more like customer circus) & explained the whole thing. The lady offered to send me an actual GIFT CARD in the mail. I agreed since it seemed to be the best option. A week went by, ten days, 14 days, 3 weeks...NO CARD. At the 10 day mark, I called again to ask where the card was. Now this new person says they will ESCALATE the problem. WOW! Escalate to what, I wondered...from the sub sub basement of "I don't care land" to the vault of "up yours?" I called several more times & etch time I asked for a District or Regional Manager to contact me. By the way they never even offered me my money back. If I did not initiate contact each time, no one would ever have called. I also wrote to them ONLINE. I called their corporate headquarters. I then told the "I'm escalating it" person that I now expected a gift card for twice the amount. I also promised that if no one called me by December 3, I'd write my review on YELP. But on Tuesday I had gone to Temecula & since that location is the LAST decent fast food place before heading 29 miles to my home, my daughter asked if I would pick up two double chicken side salads with Cilantro lite dressing. I couldn't seem to get that dressing choice by doing it online, so I went into the lobby and placed the order. I wanted to get the points so I asked the person who was kinda sorta working if all I had to do was enter that barcode or scan it? Her reply? "How would I know, I only work here." This was accompanied by a good long eye roll. I couldn't resist: I said, "You work here so you should know. Why not scurry over to someone else and ask." She shrugged her weary 19 year old shoulders, took my money & said "here ya; go," & went back to the nothing she she was doing before I walked in. Today I called corporate again. I'm a glutton for punishment but I did it because I wanted to see how far a poorly run organization will go to ignore the people who are their very existence. Happily, this guy promised me he was going to...are you ready? REALLY READY? Yes, that's right ESCALATE IT! I asked if the regional non-manager types ever audit their locations by "shopping." Yes, we do. If that were true, then the District guy for this dump must be secretly working for KFC, BK or McD. That location needs - NEEDS - an overhaul. It probably, if the truth be told, needs to interview for a new District guy. I wish I could say that this long review is all there was, but it wasn't. Sometimes, one of that crack team of "associates" feels the lobby needs to be "closed" to anyone coming in. WOW again! So, as promised today is Friday & this is the review. In the next few days, as time permits, I will review this miserable place on other platforms. I chose YELP first because it has to printed as preached, so to speak.
