Man oh man, I found my new chicken spot!! It's about 11.35$ per signature brown chicken but it's so good!! I make chicken broth and also steam the chicken to make pho and it's so tasty . If you're looking for fresh poultry this is the place. They have a variety of chickens and even roosters. You can by them whole or pieces by the lb. They also have duck and duck eggs, spices and a little grocery store inside. It's clean and considering the slaughter chickens it smells really fresh. The day I was here the staff wasn't all that friendly or helpful (I asked a few questions about different species of chicken they had posted and got a quick "they're all the same price") but the product they sell is really what I'm after so I didn't let that affect my review too much. The chickens are fresh and you can tell the difference from store bought. I'm not much of a cook and definitely no expert and even I can taste the difference. Price per whole chicken is $16.50. So glad to have found a place that serves "no hormones, no antibiotics" chicken products. Other poultry places don't mention this claim but charge less so you know what's up with the trade-off. The lady was being impatient with me when I asked her for half a chicken and then tried to get smart with me and gave me two half's. She then proceeded to make looks at her coworker making it seem like I didn't know what I was talking about. Heard of this place through a friend we ran into, and let me tell you: it's the best for fresh, organic, chicken. The woman butcher was so kind and even helped us choose the best poultry for the mole we were going to make. I can't speak for chicken meats, but I got a 2 pound bag of chicken liver and they were plump, fresh, and delicious. I also got a few gizzards and a few hearts that were attached to some of the liver, which I'm not complaining about. The staff was nice and quick. Perfect for us. You can order freshly killed duck on Mondays. I'm always at work so I haven't had the opportunity. But I do so love their eggs and innards. We only buy our eggs here now. They were char grilling chicken outside on Saturday. It was $10 for a chicken and so I purchased one. The chicken was really great. The long wait wasn't. There were seven or eight people in front of me. I figured I would be waiting 15-20 minutes. I ended up waiting one hour in the hot sun. It wasn't worth it. The issue is that the grill isn't very big and so they can't put out the volume. And some people had ordered two or three chickens. And they take a long time to cook. The white whole chicken here is incredible! Much better than any organic chicken I have had from Whole Foods, Vons, Stater Bros or Northgate. I am always in search of the perfect organic chicken and I found it here. All I did was cook it in the oven with olive oil, rosemary and lemon juice and it came out juicy and full of flavor. It makes me feel like an awesome cook whenever I get their chicken, but really, it's just that the quality of chicken is so good and fresh it's nearly impossible to mess up. You can really taste the difference between their whole chicken and the ones you get at grocery stores. I also had the breaded chicken and it was AMAZING as well!! Easy to grill, I don't know what they use to make the breading, but trust me, if you get it, you will love it. I have saved so much money getting my eggs here too which are delicious as well!
