Stopped in Saturday for lunch. Well worth the 20 minute drive! This place is so clean and full of light. I had the Olympic Special and my wife had fried chicken with fried squash and Lima beans. She said the beans were very moist- not overcooked and she liked the chicken and squash too. My meal came with a Greek salad and pita. My grilled chicken was very tender, the salad was fresh and the pita was light and fluffy. I'm usually a honey mustard dressing person, but the dressing that came with the salad was great-a well balanced dressing. Each day has a special I intend on trying. Tina was our waitress. What a wonderful personality! We told her it was our first time there, so she explained some of the items and then gave us time to find what we wanted. I had the Monday special, country style steak over rice. I was surprised to see 2 large pieces of steak. They were good, not the best I've had, but good. I would get it again. What I would not order again is the Instant mashed potatoes. Not good. Pintos were good. Wife liked her sirloin tips in wine sauce. She said they were just as good as Town & Country in King. Who serves turkey and dressing without cranberry sauce.... I ordered extra gravy would've been nice if I had gotten it although I had to pay for it. My family and I have been going to the Olympic Family Restaurant for years and I've never thought to review it before. I suppose the Olympic always felt more like home than anything because it's a local spot where we run into our neighbors and friends. The staff is always nice and attentive. Even when they are busy or there's a wait, the crew is consistent and always has that Southern charm vibe with comfortable seating and open space. The food is consistent and super tasty. Whether you get the special of the day, a salad, or customize something on the menu, it's going to be the same quality. A few of my favorites include the grilled chicken sandwich for dinner and the grits with cubed potatoes for breakfast. It's classic, Southern-style, American cooking with a friendly, family. When we went in the restaurant was clean and our waitress was great and very attentive. I ordered the hotdog special, 2 dogs all the way and fries. They were the best hotdogs I've had in a very long time. My Dad ordered a country ham sandwich and my husband got the ham and cheese sub with fries. This is a local family chain of restaurants and heard about it for the rave reviews. For starters, the service was amazing. I'm not too familiar with the southern charm, but the servers did a group service approach and never left my drink empty or left the table. The food was not only tasty, but also good portions. The overall vibe was clean and homey. I would say the booths could use some reupholstering. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a good amount of food at a great price. Have been to Olympic several times. Great food, friendly and excellent service--what more do we want from a restaurant?

We had a few stumbles in the beginning w a dirty knife, no napkin and waitress forgot my water and luke warm coffee but the fish and shrimp special l got was huge! Waitresses have masks on but patrons don't but tables are social distanced. The fish and shrimp were fried to perfection no taste of used oil is a plus and not greasy. I would recommend it. They also have every day specials. This is a Greek restaurant so nice menu for Greek and Italian dishes plus the down home country dishes. Plus they serve breakfast all day. There is many different specials on the board as well. If you are up this way, stop in and try them they are a stones throw down the street from Ingles Grocery. It is 8:30pm and the place is still open if you are hungry! read more

I went here for lunch. I have been here once or twice in the past, but those times I ordered breakfast. Mainly pancakes and they were good. But I ordered lunch this time and I was disappointed with the food. We ordered the Chicken Colorado and Buffalo chicken wrap. I had rice and mac & cheese for sides. They had no taste. The Chicken Colorado was ok, but it is not hard to put bottled BBQ sauce on chicken. The Buffalo chicken Wrap was lacking in flavor as well. The wrap was odd, it had huge chunks of cheese and tomatoes in it. The side for the fries was french fries. The type of fries they have we call 'carny fries', plane white with no flavor. They need to put some seasoning on those. Won't go back any time soon. read more

Me and my boyfriend go here whenever we are in the area. The food is always good and a low price. The portions are large so there's always left over which I always like. A co worker of mine eats here ever other morning and the staff knows him. So if you come here offend they will care and remember you. The coffee was a little rough but I got it later in the day not at breakfast. The restrooms are clean and spacious. They have Pepsi products. And breakfast all day as well as the normal menu. It's always a nice place to stop when I'm in walnut cove. read more

I'm from Walnut Cove but I live in Charlotte . We often eat here when we come home to see family . You WC folks should be very thankful you have a restaurant with such good food in a small place like WC . I've eaten at several " family " restaurants in Charlotte and none are better than Olympic . Plus Olympic is always clean and the staff is super friendly . I always eat their vegetables but they seem to have a great variety .
