Since 2014, my girlfriend and I have traveled far and wide to find the ideal Bandeja paisa. After many failed attempts, we finally found this place. Their red beans are our favorite in the area. If you're lucky and you catch the pollo Asado coming off the grill, I recommend getting it. It can be one of the juiciest chicken breast ever, but if it wasn't just taken off the grill, I'd wait for the chance when it comes off fresh. Churassco is also good, although it could use a little salt. Still, I 100% prefer under salt than too much salt, I always add a little more and it is great. Fried red snapper and their fish filet is also great. Parking can be intimidating as it is on Bergenline, but I've never had a hard time. One of my go to spots for Colombian food. read more

I have been going here for years and it is fantastic. The value is excellent and their "full rib" of chicharonnes is top notch! I don't understand some of the other comments here so let's get to the point... I barely speak 5 words of Spanish and have never had a service problem. The service has never been amazing but the servers also don't speak much English so we manage well enough. And thats the point! I'm paying $12 for a paisita for high quality meats that can feed two people so what exactly am I supposed to whine about? The menu explains things in English so you can choose easily. Their bbq chicken is amazing and oh so juicy. Pork ribs are good but I prefer the chicken. Of course, chicharonnes anytime are welcome. Prices are fair and their bakery has some nice items as well. Go here for the food and enjoy the evening. Note: of course my review is pre-covid. I hope they survive and I get a chance to go back soon. read more

This is a lovely Colombian restaurant. We came for dessert (they have a bakery too) and enjoyed their tres leche cake, empanada cambry, deditos rellenos (all desserts). We ordered a roast chicken to go. The food and service is outstanding as is the ambiance. The food is presented beautifully. Raw pork!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean seriously? We told it to the waitress, but apparently they didn't care about my husband's health. Come on! He could have got food poisoned. The waitress was the only good thing from this restaurant since she was not responsible for cooking and her service was outstanding. However, she could have said to her manager about the raw pork ribs (the pork was bleeding...grosss). Unfortunately, she just smiled about it. After having some empanadas at my favorite place and walking around for a while my boyfriend and I decided to stop by. (this was about 2 months ago) the picture of the chuzo had intrigued me, we walked in and a hostess sat us down. Our waitress came right over, I ordered a chuzo and my boyfriend their shrimp cocktail. We asked our waitress some questions about the dishes and she was unable to give a solid answer. That was sort of disappointing. She got our dishes out and never came to check up on us, it wasn't that busy either about another 2 tables besides us. The food was fine, my chuzo was a little bland and the barbecue sauce a little too watered down so for $7 kind of a disappointment. My boyfriend said his shrimp was a little soggy, but that it was ok. The best thing from this entire meal was the dessert, we had gotten a cake and it was absolutely delicious! If I were to be in this area again I would definitely stop in for a slice. Our waitress dropped the check, we were talking a little before leaving and she just kept walking back and forth and eyeing our table from a distance. That was uncomfortable, we paid and left. idk what some of these bad reviews are about but this establishment is really good, actually it is great! out of the many Colombian restaurants I have gone to in the area, El Rancho Colombiano surely sticks out as one of the best. Friday night my friends and I wanted go eat somewhere close to the tunnel, and go to NYC afterwards for some drinks. We carried in 2 bottles of wine and when we got there we were seated immediately. The waitress offered to open our bottles before anything and bought out some wine glasses. They have a really extensive menu but we ordered calamari and yucca sticks for appetizers. I usually get churrasco steak about it was suggested that I should go with the Punta de anca mariposa, why? because its lean with less fat, juicy, and so tender. We received just the actual potato , meat and plantain and no soup at all. If that's the case I would've ordered just a plate of meat and potato and not a "sancocho" SOUP . I'm gonna be honest when I wake up in the morning and I walk out my door, i go make a few sales and at work, and I finish my day. On the way home there's only one thing on my mind and that's "el churasco" from ERC. Best steak in union city I guarantee it. I only chose 1 star because I couldn't pick anything less. This place is a rip off. We ordered a Lechona and it was stuffed with rice. We never told them to stuff it with rice, not what we ordered. The pork meat that they tossed in there was dry as hell! They totally ripped us off! We paid $310 for it and we were so embarrassed with our guests. We were all left with hunger, this pig stuffed with rice was disgusting. Who does this to their patrons on Thanksgiving? Just awful on their part! The place is nice and cozy and the service is friendly, even though our waitress was slow. The food took some time not too fast not too slow but it was delicious. We had the stuffed avocado and it fresh and my chicken was well cooked, tasty and juicy. My friend had a beef patacon and omg. This place, I can't believe I've past it so many times and I've never tried it. I am blown away by the service (Linda) and the food! Came with Mom for a nice late lunch and we saw they had a nice little fire pit on the side for the meat, so our server suggested a delicious order of meat I would be lying I can't remember the exact name of the cut of the meat something to do with a butterfly lol! It was amazing, the juiciness the flavor was exquisite! But even more I loved the shrimp appetizers, so amazing I loved it... I am so happy I came I can't wait to come for date night! Very nice service and great environment. The servers are pretty friendly as well. The menu is huge, but the portions are as well so we ended up only ordering one item--the mixed dish bbq (from the front of their menu). Good thing too, because it was huge even for two people, with lots of meat and sides on a huge platter. Most of the food had quite a bit of flavor, with the sides providing a good supplement to the meat. The ribs were good, but unfortunately the steak and chicken were both on the dry side. The steak was especially overdone and it became a chore finishing it. Hopefully it was just a fluke, because I'd sure like to come back some time and try other things on their menu. read more

We had the coal chicken. It was a good size to share for 2 ppl. They accommodated a big group of 15. Service was good, patient. They have a great variety of options. They have no black beans which was a bummer. Only red beans. The chicken was good but not superb or over the top. Just grilled chicken. However it seemed like they wanted us fast because they kept coming back every 10 min to pick up whichever plates where empty. The waitress also started arguing with us because she misunderstood and thought we had ordered a side of beans and after we said we had not ordered she got upset and said we had said yes to the beans and didn't want to take them back. read more

The server was so gracious and helpful when we asked for suggestions and information about Colombian cuisine. I would have to say the BEST pork ribs, flank steak, yucca, rice and beans -- EVER! My mouth waters everytime I think of the delicious food at this place. They cook the meat in special wood imported from Columbia, the flavors are so unique. I hesitate to recommend it because I don't want to have to wait in line someday. However there its too delicious not to share. The Mixed Meat Plate with Ribs and Steak come on a large palm leaf and is enough for 3 people with the sides.
