Las 2 Haustecas was outstanding and I know Mexican food! I grew up in Southern California and eat Mexican food all the time. This place is legit. The service was excellent and polite, what more do you want than great food and nice people? The price was awesome too. I ordered the "Pechuga A La Plancha"... After riding horses at Blanche Manor, our wonderful guide recommended we try Las 2 Huastecas. We gladly did, and really enjoyed our visit. The place is a Mexican grocery store with a restaurant too. You can order at the counter or grab a seat and receive table service. Salsa and chips come out first, and you receive one very hot red salsa and a milder green salsa. These are the thicker corn tortilla chips. The chips seem to be endless as we had three baskets worth. The place was busy, but we still received our order fairly quickly. They have an extensive menu with specials on certain days. I got the chorizo gorditas, and they were good. All told, my family had burritos, quesadillas and the gorditas - all were tasty and fresh. The staff was helpful, but we did experience a bit of a language barrier - it all worked out though. Las 2 Huastecas seems very authentic, and is a great find in Blue Ridge. read more

Totally authentic and some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. A few months ago, when in the Blue Ridge mountains, I just happened to stumble across this unbelievable hole in the wall. This week, when back in the mountains, my family and I couldn't wait to take the 45 minute drive to pick up the food. Starting with the guacamole, a large container of fresh avocado with warm homemade chips...amazing...It was so good we finished it before we got back to the cabin! Fajita mixto had plenty of grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and lots of peppers and onions. Served with fresh corn tortillas, rice, beans and avocado. Portions are huge so don't let the low prices fool you. At $12 this was enough for 2. Burritos are overstuffed and delish. Just when you think you have ordered enough, this prize comes with fresh chips and a drink! If you're anywhere near Blue Ridge and like Mexican food ... this is a must read more

In my opinion this is the best authentic Mexican food in the area! Service is super fast, food is plentiful and fresh. Plenty of seating and has little Hispanic market in the restaurant. Three of us ate a plate meal and the total bill was less than $40. I had the carne asada and the meat was tender and cooked perfectly! We were a party of six. The restaurant looked like Mexico, it was cute. The waitress was very sweet and considerate even though one of the children spilled a glass of water right a way. While her English was not great she seemed to understand us very well. We had six different dishes, and everything was extremely tasty. One of my friends had a cheesy Palano that was fantastic. I had the tongue taco and a pork taco Mexican style. They were delicious. The tongue was cut in little pieces, the cilantro and onions were perfect. The pork was so juicy and delicious. Another one of my friends had the steak tacos, and they were also juicy and cooked perfectly. Another child had crunchy steak tacos with lettuce and tomato and cheese. The lettuce and tomato and cheese were very fresh and very nice. One of the children got a chicken, tender and fries off the kids menu. The chicken look like it was real chicken and not really what they expected as in tenders so they weren't particularly happy with it. However, the chicken was high quality sleet slices of breast fried. Maybe not the kids menu item but it was good and tasty. We had a blast. We had some cocktails spicy margaritas and we had lots of fun and the children had lots of fun and it was just a great time. read more

Where do I even start?! I had to use the restroom. It was outside of the building. They covered a large hole in the wall with a styrofoam type material from floor to ceiling. The ceiling of the bathroom had water damage. No soap in the bathroom. I ordered soft beef tacos with a side of beans and rice. I don't know what their version of beef is, but it is not American beef, nor the authentic beef that I had while in Mexico. It didn't even taste nor look like beef. It didn't taste like pork chicken either. I had a side of white cheese for my chips, which I put over the tacos, so you will see it in the photos. When you enlarge the photos, you can see for yourself that the "meat" does not resemble beef. When asked for a check, it never came. We stopped by this place in search of some mexican goodies and food. The have a small section for some groceries but mostly chips, drinks, flours and canned goods. We tried the food from the restaurant, it was okay. The portions are large and enough to fill you up. I had a beef burrito, which I could only eat half of. We had the flautas. The flavor was just okay. We also had the quesadilla, it was drowned in cheese. The gorditas were also very large and filling. Found this delightful hole in the wall on our vacation and it did not disappoint! The food was made fresh so it's not fast food and the service was friendly. We had red and green enchiladas and a burrito. Portions were huge and the food was so flavorful. Jarriitos accompanied our meal. A small market for essentials is part of the restaurant. I'll ask for extra sauce next time. The beans were outstanding. My son got three Steak Tacos. You can mix and match and specify Mexican (cilantro and onions) or Tex-Mex (cheese, tomatoes, lettuce). This is by far the best Mexican food that I have had outside of Southern Cal. As someone who spend many years in San Diego, I am a Mexican snob. I want my Mexican food to come with a health hazard label. (Not really, but definitely want a hole in the wall place). This place DELIVERS that. Let's start with the guac. Chunkiest guac that I have ever seen. For $6 for a large container... you can't even buy that much avocado for that price. Im not sure how they afford it. The carne fajitas were bursting with flavor. The salsa was drinkable it was so good. The only negative thing I have to say? Its closed on Sunday and closes way too early on Saturday. Thank you yelpers for turning us on to this gem you can rarely lose eating in at a Mexican market. We started with their $3.50 side of guacamole, as good as it gets with chunky pieces of avocado. If you were at a trendy Mexican place you would pay $10 at least we also tried the 3 chicken tacos and a chicken Gordita. We always enjoy our meals at Las 2 Huastecas. They have great guacamole and the other typical dishes are really good too (tacos, burritos, etc.). My favorite item is probably the Pozole (I think they only have it on Saturdays). I typically buy it in the large to go container, so I can have it for lunch over a couple of days. It is delicious! I would give them 5 stars if we could have a margarita or beer with my meal. Somehow, eating Mexican food without them seems wrong. LOL! read more

Very impressed with this hidden jem of Blue ridge. Tacos were delicious, we ordered them Azada (steak) and tried both the Mexican and American way. I personally prefer the American way, being a Wisconsin girl, gotta have that cheese! Unlike most authentic steak tacos I've tried, the meat was very moist and tender. The prices can't be beat, by far the best value for tacos at 1.50 a piece, or $14 for 10 tacos, rice and beans. The rice and beans were tasty, and the salsas were fresh and had great flavor.
