It hit the spot. I ordered the Farmers Bowl(nice veggies). And some chips and salsa were put in the bag. The chips are thick and crunchy. Those and the salsa were very flavorful. I liked the art and items on the walls. The bartender/waitress was very knowledgeable. It was a low light environment, which I appreciate. Parking seemed easy to me. And the service was quick. Good vibes.

Agreeing with another reviewer - this is more of a bar than a restaurant. Food and food service are secondary to the bar scene. That being said, the bar area wasn't that crowded on a Saturday evening. Dear Hubby and I stopped in to eat with our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. There was no one to greet us. One of the servers noticed us after a bit and said that we were welcome to sit wherever. You get the casual vibe from that kind of greeting. The interior of the restaurant if one large room, with a partial division between booths and tables for dining, and the large bar and adjacent tables. A number of big screen TV's line the wall behind the bar. Abundant festive decorations hang from the ceiling for a party atmosphere. I wanted to order a blended virgin margarita, but they don't use blenders. When I asked for pineapple juice, the server offered a shaken virgin pineapple margarita. I went for that option. It was good, but not especially memorable. Foodwise, about the same could be said. DH and I split an order of shrimp fajitas. Serviceable flavor, but unremarkable, and not that generous. Our son-in-law ordered a burrito, which arrived in large glory. I don't recall if he got chicken or steak inside, but he said as generous as it looked, it was loaded with primarily rice and beans, so a false advertising kind of deal. The little one ordered a kids' quesadilla with some grilled bell peppers on the side. Her quesadilla was one of the nicer ones I've seen in a Mexican restaurant in a long time. It was clearly filled with lots of cheese, and grilled to a perfect look. It could be a decent place to watch sports, but I'm not ready to put it at the top of any venue lists based on our first experience.

Listen. Staff are friendly as heck. Super nice and helpful. But the fact is our order was wrong which seems crazy since there were not a lot of people there. we wanted pancakes but we got French toast. Not a super big deal to me. They also forgot our chips. The food was ok. My friend said his eggs were cold. Mine were fine they gave us an additional syrup that felt like it had no flavor that was added to it to be honestly. Just made it soggier with no additional taste. Over all it's ok don't know that I would order off the brunch menu again maybe I'll come again one day and order some dinner. For now though not super impressed. Fantastic music playing though haha

Fun place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. They have an amazing DJ and a great brunch menu. If you don't want brunch you can just ask for the regular menu as well. My chiliquenos were delicious! My friends loved their breakfast foods and the lunch salad. They have a great beer selection and bottomless mimosas. The dance floor is fun and lively. Plenty of parking in the back! The servers were very pleasant. Overall I highly recommend this place for a party or celebration or just a girls day out!

It was so much fun to come and hang out with the fantastic crowd. The DJ, Al, knew how to read the crowd and had everyone dancing! Alicia, the waitress, was excellent. She cared for us, ensuring we had our drinks and food ready, which was amazing. We celebrated my daughter's birthday party and had a fantastic time!

In this case, he went for a sampler when we were dining at Shooby's. The four options he chose were on the light side, with a hint of fruity flavors. There was only one that I really cared for - which made me long for the good old days of pizza and beer. One was too bitter for me, and the other two didn't really make much of an impression. DH did better - he enjoyed 3 of the 4. He said that none of them was a huge standout, but he appreciated that they had such a variety of choices available. Apparently, there's not much in the way of inexpensive drinking these days. The four samplers came up to a whopping $16, before tax and tip. Whew! I think the concept of having Shooby's (burgers & chicken), Rori's (artisanal ice cream), and Topa Topa Brewing Company all under one roof in Old Town Camarillo is quite brilliant. There are lots of tables available for dining and drinking. I suspect that we'll be returning to this location for casual dining and imbibing.

If you're going to hang your hat on the speakeasy aesthetic--dim lights, hushed tones, whispers of…read moreexclusivity--then understand this: you're entering into an unspoken pact with your patrons. We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

I absolutely cannot get enough of this place…read more The basement here is really the place to be. I love the ambiance, and the history on the walls. We ordered an iced tea ($4.00), TO Honey I'm Blonde ($7.75), Stone Buenaveza ($8.25), Limoncello Mascarpone Cake ($7.50), and the "special cheesecake" ($9.50). With $2.68 in tax, the total was $39.68 before tip. Despite the word "tavern" in the name, this place is family friendly. During our visit, there were two large group gatherings (with kids) happening at the same time. The interior is spacious but can get noisy due to the hard surfaces. However, when the weather cooperates, there are outdoor patios available in both the front and back. Although the color palette of the interior décor is dark, the space feels clean and comfortable. There's a variety of seating options--booths, tables, high-tops, and communal tables. I'm sure the pastries on the menu came from a third-party vendor, but they were really good. (Edit to follow.) * The business owner informs me that the pastries are actually made in house! They are very good--so save room for dessert. * Our server Julie was a great hostess.
