Hands down my favorite local bar. I used to stop in frequently in my 20s to 30s. Still the same vibes. It's truly where you can easily make friends. I dropped in with friends after we had dinner in Oxnard to celebrate a birthday. We still had some battery left, unusual for us after hitting our 40s. Been coming here for a while now and recently the owner got skimpy with the alcohol and now the drinks and GLASSES are not worth a dam, the pours are way less and glasses are tiny its not worth the money like it used to be about a month ago or so. Will end up drinking at rics or someplace over the grade instead. Don't waste your time here. Until the drinks are back to being regular sized and not less, we will NOT be coming back. Went late at night. There was a female bartender. I haven't been carded for years - I'm almost 40. I told her I didn't have my ID as I was meeting friends from work. She said she couldn't serve me and demanded I give my drink back. I understood, didn't put up a fight and gave her my drink back. She was still extremely rude even though I consented to giving my drink back and leaving. Will not be returning. read more

My favorite bar that I have been going to. I have been there enough times that when my former service dog died that the bartenders bought my husband and I a drink. Today I bring my trained service dog. Keep in mind he is registered and has his tags as well as his service dog papers. They didn't care and said it is a service dog and I come here often and the extremely rude and arrogant older woman bartender said that she was the manager and here every day and I have to sit out back! The service is just like the waiters, it sucks dick. I stopped by Thursday November 16 at 3:00 after a long day of work. All I asked was how much is the beer and the bartender started getting sassy with me and giving me attitude. She couldn't tell me the price of any beer in general. The Bitch could have simply said, it starts at 7 dollars and goes up to 13 or something along those lines. No wonder why this place is always undergoing new management. I have always enjoyed Take 5. I try and make it a point to stop in at least once a week on my way home. I really enjoy the people. The juke box is awesome. Make no mistake. This is a Dive Bar, which I love! But this past week, my husband and I stopped in to enjoy a drink (or two) and we were very surprised to see the tab amount. They decided to increase the drink charges to an unrealistic amount. As soon as I inquired about the tab everyone one in the bar started complaining too. As much as I like going to the 5 I can't really justify going there with those prices. There are plenty of other establishments that offer the same environment for less expensive beverages. I have spoken to a few distributors that I know and they have confirmed that the prices of alcohol have not risen to that extext. Sorry 5! Bad decision. :( read more

I've been coming back here for a year now. In the time I've been here, my only intention was to have a couple a drinks and play on my phone. Fast forward a few months, I came to meet people in simple conversation and small talk. Those conversations lead to a lot more. There's something that this community draws in. Not just Camarillo, but the the Take 5 community itself. If you come to a dive bar and can't handle a simple hazing, stay home, simple as that. We rag on each other, we give each other the business. But at the of day, this establishment has some of the best Human beings I've ever meet. To Christy, Leanne, Megan, Jaime, Chris, "Rail!", Mike, Steven, Jackie, Chad, and anyone else I've missed. Good drinks. Good vibes. Chill environment and always a breath of fresh air from LA when I come to visit my friends and family in Ventura county. It's everything you want from a dive bar. I've been coming here since my college days No qualms until this weekend. Do I act up a little when I'm in Ventura county bc the drinks are cheaper, the people are chiller and I'm a decedent of olivas Adobe? Absolutely. Am I a bit of an odious brat when I drink? Without a doubt. We all have our faults. Did I threaten to sue this bar that I have loved for years? No. Did I get refused service and accused of threatening to sue this bar? Yes. I bought my best friend a 2pm birthday shot and when i drink my brain goes into straight lawyer mode (avoid law school it devours your personality and entity as a human) I said this bar could be sued for many reasons. It's a bar. Why do you think liquor licenses are so hard to acquire? Bars are legal liabilities just waiting to happen. Drunk people do stupid shit and bars and bar owners can be held liable. So yes. I said this bar could be sued for many reasons. As a vague general fact. Not that I would sue or had a specific reason to. But the bartender/owners girlfriend took that pretty personally and told the owner I threatened to sue them. Which I did not. I was later that night refused service and couldn't even enjoy the 6 songs I paid for on the juke box. This would have been my posting before I the owner of take five and her companions had relabeled me as a trouble maker and I was 86'd from the bar, I thought it was the yelp review I wrote but I've learned that I was ostracized before that, which I really really want to know why? So, let me start by saying the five star post would have one that I would have given you before that. I'm not kissing ass, I'm telling you the honest truth and I expect the same back. Please. I have lived in Camarillo for over 15 yrs. I loved take five because you had a dart board and I could go in the bar by myself and play darts and the staff got to know me you guys made sure that some of our harmless locals whom came on a bit too hard would be gently just distracted, you were awesome at that. I wasn't a total recluse, I talk a lot and anyone who was game, would play darts with too. I think I actually bought the last of your flights , for darts, in the wooden and glass display case. I was introduced to the other side of your bar when some friends of mine, born and raised Camarillians forced me to play pool. I normally hid in the corner by the dart board. Other times I would come from outlaws after the band stoped and they had last call 45 min to 1/2 early. I would go to take five, tell others to go there, if they wanted a last last call. I always order a beer sometimes and two And two shots and tipped well. I had some small privileges like, getting my order taken before others and being able to finishing my beer while everyone was being herded out, I felt like I was a special part of the group and I really really liked the feeling welcomed there. I became less of a regular when I had the pleasure of taking care if grandma as a full time job until she passed. After that I became depressed, do to depression meds gained approx 60 lbs and I had become recluse. I was forced to get out of the house Thanks to my great friends, I was so embarrassed of how I looked. My friends would drag me in for a pitcher of beer and maybe darts or pool here and there. I occasionally had to get the hell out of my house just to stay sane, and I came alone and played darts. Fast forward the first New Years Eve I had been out in forever. I never went out on New Years ( I use to bar tend banquets ) and I wanted to go out, I was feeling better about myself, learning to dress for my weight and not feel ugly. I had been to taje five more than a few times before that. But this was my first New Years Eve in forever. I did act like I was a regular- pre-tipped the bartender $20 to take care of me and some people I had met and told take five was a great place- they had heard differently. I said BS it is what it is a nice whole in the wall bar. I did ask if I could play a few dance songs. I asked the whole bar. I was sitting In My favorite corner and To this day I do not know why I was escorted out was treated like someone whom had a former problem with the establishment. I was $ 50 shorted. So I was sitting outside crying. Please, understand I had just gotten my ego back I wasn't sloppy ass drunk. I was buzzed and having fun. Then, ty to some wonderful very grasosos people,who took pity on me crying asking why ? I had a very nice mellow yet fun after party. My bruised eso restored. I wrote a hate filled rambling buzzed yelp review of take five. Later that year I had come back and thought nothing of it. I was asked to leave once I gave the bartender my credit card I had guessed my name was remembered due to the yelp review. I left politely, the bouncer complemented me on my politeness. I was embarrassed and my feelings were hurt but I didn't cause a problem. Somehow., I ran into people from take five at lamplighter. I, being myself, apologized if I had done or said anything to hurt anyone's feelings I apologized. For the Yelp. I was told that I had done something very wrong "that" unspecified night and there was no excuse for what I had done, apparently unforgivable and nothing to do with New Years and nothing to do with the yelp. This came up again tonight, at lamplighter with the bartender. Because she told me taje 5 was open and I told her the story. She said she though it was me, I asked do you have any idea what I supposably did, she didn't want to say. She was very nice to me, let me order even though I walked in after last call. And I tipped her well. I am in complete "awe" in wtf does everyone think I did. I didn't get out much at all then . I don't go out much but when I do I avoid taje five. And I have "got" to finally clear the air on whatever this is! I telling the God's Honest Truth. Can someone please do the same for me? read more

this place was pretty shitty. I felt like i was getting strange stares but i brushed it off and thought it was because i had no make up on and probably looked 15 years old. A few min after walking i took a seat at the bar and Proud to be an American started playing, no issue there at all until the crowd until they started hollering 'fuck Hillary Clinton' and 'Trump for life' in between verses of the song. By now it was made VERY clear I wasn't wanted in this bar. Do I even need to mention that i'm hispanic? Anyways, don't go here or support this business. I love dive bars and between Lamplighter, Outlaws, and Clubhouse... Take 5 is my favorite. Pool games are 50c each. Their cues aren't perfect but they're actually pretty nice for bar cues. They all have their tips and you can always find a few good ones to play with on either of their two tables. There's a jukebox and a couple of game machines (our favorite game is the "what's the difference in these pictures?" in the erotic section ;D) They also have a stack of local readers with jokes and funny stories sitting on a table. The back patio for smoking has covered benches. The restrooms are usually clean (it's a bar; sometimes they get mussed up) and the lines are short. It's usually pretty empty but can get crowded and fill up quick on some nights. The bartenders are really friendly. Don't be shy to flag them down. They'll just keep talking to the patrons at the other end of the bar if you don't. ;) Drink prices are fair. They serve coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages for DDs and superdrunks. read more

Take 5 use to be my place. It was a Thursday night and i just go out of work so i decided to go to take 5 for a drink. The security is cool all of them. But the bartender is a total bitch. She mention last call 20 min before close. So i asked her right away for a lemondrop martini. She told me you need to leave in 10 min so i was like ok? Dont mention last call if you going to be mad about it. I know how to make lemon martinis and she did a horrible job. Tall Blonde Skinny Bartender. At the end of the night she was telling "cmon guys you guys can't even finish your fucking drink" "you guys need to fucking drink and leave" "i will throw your drinks if you dont finish them" worst service in town. I just love this little bar here in camarillo! Dropped by a while back after moving into town. It's my new local bar. Always great service (if you aren't belligerent) and each bartender has always been quick with my drinks. Great crowd. Friendly locals. Owner is always helpful.
