I took my brother visiting from Arizona who was missing the Cuban food and culture. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed. The ambiance is always great in El Palacio de Los Jugos, it's like a marketplace with all sorts of tropical fruits, juices and tons of prepared food. We ordered fritas Cubanas, chicharrón, jugo de guanabana, malanguitas fritas, dulce de leche, cortaditos and took home a mango, aguacate, mamey and some sesame bars. The frita was pretty awful and not authentic at all. The bread was super dry like a brick and the patty was flavorless. Don't ever order a frita here, Morro Castle has much better ones, go there. The chicharrón was pretty tough and not that flavorful. When we got home, I cut the aguacate and part of it was rotten. The juice my brother ordered was good and the Cortadito was mediocre. For dessert we had dulce de leche, Cuban style with the syrup, not that great either, my grandma would not have approved. Pretty sad because this place is fun to go to with all the variety; This Palacio de los Jugos can do better. I suggest if you go, stay away from the frita and maybe try the prepared basics like vaca frita. I have been to several of the locations of this restaurant. And this one by far is the worst! I am not sure if it is because it is located in the heart of Hialeah or what?! But the ladies that serve you, the food are so incredibly rude, that it makes you not even want to give this place your money. They yell at you and are incredibly vulgar. This location is the WORST!!! Do NOT ever order from them. Choose another!!!! I have been a customer for years. Recently, the delivery person left behind my juice and brought only my soup. Uber doesn't give refunds . I called them and indeed they verified by not only eye witness also by video that my juice was indeed still there. What a huge disappointment... my daughter ordered a $35 churrasco Moros and maduros and it was horrible. The steak highly under seasoned the Moros were hard as if dry due to sitting under a lamp (this was ordered at 1pm), maduros were just ok. I've been to several locations and had juices, food and sandwiches.. the juice has always been consistent.. for food, I always have the sliced avocado with salmon or shrimp and it's been very good and fresh.. the sandwiches were very good as well and very filling ... my favorite juices are the sugarcane, lemonade and watermelon juices... all the juices have been great! She pulled up a calculator and to my surprise, the total was $14 and change. I paid and proceeded to have a sit to eat my lunch and secretly watched them do a double standard to Spanish speaking customers, it's a popular dish so every time this particular dish was ordered the server always heaped on the the Ropa vieja and never weighed it. So this is a really neat and big cuban market with hot, fresh food. That being said no one here speaks English. I had to point to what I wanted but the food was so good. Great food. The juices are great my favorite being the passion fruit. You will want to buy this in the biggest size possible and take home for the whole family. The only thing is it can be a little chaotic since there are so many different sections. And you can't choose food options from another section, they all have to be separate orders. They have several locations all over South Miami and this the 3rd one I've been to. It's a little far from where I live but it's worth the drive. Besides the fresh juices, there's something for everyone here including traditional Cuban and Latin food, a variety of seafood selections and even Asian inspired dishes on some occasions. You just simply wait in line in front of the several food displays, point on the item, and then pay. Most combos are just around $10 and trust, it's enough to share. Plus the ladies behind the counter are attentive and swift. Although most don't speak English, they will do their best to accommodate. I mostly come here for their pork dishes, especially the Chicharron. They're always ready, always meaty and always crunchy. I also get the paella or whole fish to take home with a couple of Cuban style empanadas fresh out of the fryer. They're not the healthiest option but dam their so good :) The empanadas are around $2.50 each and they're pretty big. This place will always be one of my goto restaurants for comfort food. I've been to a couple "El Palacio de Los Jugos" locations in South Florida and this one is always packed! (The one on Flagler and SW 57th Avenue still holds the Championship Belt for "Most Packed/Crowded"). If a venue that sells food is packed then be happy; that just means they will run out of food therefore cooking more fresh food. I had their oven-baked salmon (huge filet; you can share if you wish) with two sides (boiled pumpkin "calabaza" and steamed vegetables). I also purchased a side order of avocados. This "El Palacio de Los Jugos" has very minimal parking. It's right on one of the busiest streets in Hialeah "LA 49" so get ready to struggle a bit exiting onto the road once you leave. Great place for food and juice in Hialeah! It's right across the street of Gus Machado Ford and there's plenty of parking for everyone. The staff gives plenty of food and it's a bargain compared to everywhere else. The boxes of food can feed two people comfortably. I would recommend coming early because it can get packed around lunch time. My only complaint is that the dining area is outrageously hot. Looking for a quick bite to hold you off until you get home and cook for the kids, stop by for a croqueta or an empanada. What I Recommend: MIAMI SANDWICH: If you're in the mood for a sandwich, this is the one you should pick. It's massive and has all the essentials elements for a great sandwich. Stacks of deli meat, on toasted cuban bread with melted cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and shoestring potato chips and strips of bacon. My boyfriend and I always split this sandwich and we end up stuffed. Macaroni Salad: I hated this as a kid because of the pickle and pineapple chunks. If you want to splurge, you can upgrade your cafe con leche for a cup of one of their natural juices for about $1 more. Juices: They sell the juices by the cup and by the half gallon. I personally love picking up a few whenever I host a brunch at home to make some funky mimosas. Mango, guava and pineapple are a couple of my favorites. Palacio de los jugos is the kind of place you go to when you are on a budget but want to eat well. Also the kind of place you go to when you want a massive sandwich and not pay an arm and a leg for it.
