One of the best tacos in town ! Authentic and delicious! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. We also got the horchata ! Yum! Service is always friendly. Must try.

Tacos were fresh, authentic and delicious. I order 2 lengua (tongue) taco and 2 tripa (tripe) taco. Service was good and staff was very friendly. I would say it's a no frills, no thrills simply good food type of place. Will certainly frequent this establishment again if I'm ever craving tacos and in the area again.

We ordered chorizo & potato flautas, chicken tacos and chicken breast burrito via Grubhub. Delivery was fast and food was fresh. They confirmed our order changes to make sure food was made with any changes we requested. Food was okay. I'm not a fan of the refríes beans and coleslaw kind of salad on top of the flautas. Avocado and coquita cheese was yummy. Pico de gallo was delicious! And elote corn was delicious as well. Burrito came rice and beans on the side as well as inside which was different and a bit overwhelming as there's rice and beans on the inside of the burrito, it's really wasn't needed or wanted but it was decent and filling. Chicken tacos were not my favorite at all. It was lacking flavor.

The food at El Rey del Taco is good when you eat in but every time I get it delivered or I go pick it up, they always mess up the order, they forget to put something on the food that I requested and I make sure and repeat myself 2-3 times just to get me order correct and I do speak Spanish so they can't say they don't understand what I said, don't know who's fault it is, the one taking the order or the one making it and to top it off, besides being charged for the food they add some other bs on your bill, like "Open Food $2.00" what in the hell is open food that costs an extra $2.00? Then they charge 25 cents for the plastic bag, this is truly some BS. And they charge $5.00 for a Elotes which an ear of corn covered in cheese and hot sauce. Who ever comes here check your bill, they're ripping people off!

Yes, the spot is a great place to have Mexican food in Union City, NJ. I am not a meat-eater, however, this place has enough on their menu to whip a hearty veggie dish. There are two sides to this location. One side is the order, pick up, and go area. The other side is the dining part. The spot seems a little gritty in the kitchen area but, you can tell they have been there for years. The staff mainly speak Spanish and they have a little trouble with the English language however, they will understand what you want after a few series of questioning. Besides that part, what I will say is if you order to go the portion and food is not the same experience. When you sit down, extra garnishes and appetizers like snacks come to your table, like tortillas and a few different sauces. The portion of the meals is much bigger when you dine in. You have much more food than ordering takeout. Either way, the food is very good here. I have ordered there before I transitioned into a vegetarian and many of the dishes there. It is all very good. If you're hungry I recommend eating in.

A tiny little authentic Mexican restaurant in the heart of Union City... that should get you excited but wait until you taste their food. Top Notch and arguably the best in the area... Personal favorites of ours are the Tacos and Tortas. Make sure to try their Tamarindo too

Was craving tacos the other night and did a quick yelp search for recommendations which landed me here. Ordered via the yelp app, most of the tacos are about 8.50 for 4, so the prices are reasonable. My pick up order was ready in about 15 minutes. The tacos itself were great, Andrea and I shared the barbacoa and al pastor. The pork meat in both were super tender, and the garnishes of cilantro, onion and lime just made it so much better. The tortillas were very durable and tasty. Really loved the al pastor, sweet and savory with every bite because of the pineapple pieces in it. So good. Be warned the sauces that come along with your orders are very spicy, and I LOVE spicy so it didn't bother me but just a heads up.

Solid tacos. I got an order of tacos and they were nice enough to do it half pork half beef. I don't know if that's poor taco etiquette but I wanted to try all the different meats. I thought the pork was better than the beef in case anyone was wondering. The food and the value of your meal are Outstanding. I feel that all the young kids made Tacos mad popular and now you can't get well priced tacos. You can at this place though so keep the place low key. The service could have been better but who cares the food was delicious. There was a certain freshness to my food and it's hard to explain that feeling but it made for a very enjoyable experience. PS. FYI There is a quick to go entrance and a sit down entrance.

    Al Pastor Tacos

Consistently so good!!! We order delivery from here any time we're craving legit, no-frills Mexican tacos. The Al Pastor is my favorite - great flavor to the pork and juicy with a nice balance of pineapple chunks. The chicken flautas are also delicious and have a great crunch to the tortilla. Another huge plus: you can't beat the value! Four big tacos are only about $8

This is one of the best taco spots in the area. Yes, finding parking can be like trying to win the lottery because it's on one of the busiest streets in town, but your patience will be rewarded. This place is a little hole in the wall Mexican spot. Before you even walk in, the smell will tantalize your senses. My favorites here are the cabeza and chorizo tacos. Thr cabeza(head) tacos are fatty and juicy, which in my opinion is the perfect description for meat. It literally melts in your mouth. The chorizo tacos here are out of this world. I know you're probably saying chorizo is the same throughout Bergenline, but here, they cook it to the point that it has a little crunch on the outside. Perfection I tell you! They have hot food ready for people to come in and order. I don't think you have to worry about it sitting there for a long time because there are plenty of people coming in and ordering. Their delivery guy also looks really busy. The staff are cool. If you do not speak Spanish, they still make an effort to explain and answer any questions.

We ordered: Borracho Tacos (fish) $22 Esquites Gratinee (corn) $10 Truffle Ribeye Burrito $27 Black Chili Crunch Guacamole $14 The borracho tacos aka fish tacos were very small and disappointing. They are very overpriced for what we received. One small piece of fish per little taco shell. Flavor was ok. Are they worth $22? Absolutely not. We will not be reordering these. The Esquites Gratinee corn side dish was bigger than the guacamole portion and flavorful per my boyfriend. I don't eat corn so I didn't have any. My boyfriend really liked it. Said it's unique and 10/10. He would get this again. The truffle ribeye burrito is delicious. Though I didn't get any truffle flavor? If it was there, it's minimal. I didn't taste it at all. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and it's a good portion of meat. Tender and flavorful. No chewiness. Sauce on top is amazing. Rice and beans cooked perfect. Would order this again. It's worth it. Even without truffle flavor. Great portion size too. The black chili crunch guacamole is the star of the show. While it's a small portion, it's very flavorful. Love the garlic. Love the crunch. Fresh avocados. This is worth it. We would definitely order it again. Highly recommend the guac. Small but mighty haha.

That occasion had been a few years ago and had involved an insanely strong margarita, an experience that I would not want to relive. However, my friend suggested grabbing dinner there recently, and since it was a nice evening and their outdoor dining was right on the main thoroughfare of Washington Street, I agreed to at least go to enjoy their excellent people watching. I certainly vowed to skip the cocktails, but was willing to give their food another chance. We started with crisp, lightly-salty tortilla chips and a rich, bold salsa. I then ordered Vegetable Fajitas, which included green and red bell peppers, zucchini, and onions. The peppers had been sliced so thin that they were barely noticeable and made hardly any flavor impact. The sizzling platter was also about 85% onions, of which I was not a fan, so I sent back most of them in the end. The whole thing was also rather greasy. The flour tortillas were delicious and not artificial tasting like most. The DIY platter was also served with a side plate of refreshing sour cream, well-seasoned guacamole, sliced jalapenos, and fresh pico de gallo. I wished the portions of these condiments were larger, though, and the guacamole, in particular. The staff was so friendly, allowing us to linger at the table after we paid and even refilling our water during that time. They all provided service with a smile, which also helped ease any frustration a diner might have about the fact that they apply an automatic tip of 20% to the check for any party size. While I still had a decent experience at East LA, it was much better than I had remembered, and I would be willing to return.

A cashier immediately tried to stop her from going, even though we were clearly customers already waiting in line to order. What made the situation worse was what happened next. A manager identified as Justin and another cashier began arguing about the situation in front of customers. Instead of calmly explaining any policy, the discussion turned into an awkward back-and-forth between staff members while we stood there waiting. The entire interaction became uncomfortable and embarrassing, and it felt like we were being treated as if we had done something wrong simply for asking to use the restroom while waiting to order. If the restaurant has a policy that restrooms are only for paying customers, that's completely understandable. However, there was no visible sign anywhere explaining that policy. Situations like this should be handled professionally and respectfully, especially when customers are already in line to make a purchase. What could have been a simple moment of customer service instead turned into an unnecessarily uncomfortable experience. I hope management reviews how staff communicate policies with customers and considers posting clear signage about restroom access so situations like this can be avoided in the future.

Christ on a chopstick, I haven't seen an $8 sandwich since I was in grad school (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth)! We started with the Tamal Cubano, which was fantastically delicious, though the accompanying sauce wasn't hot at all. A shame, because it was well-flavored--just needed a lot more capsaicin. My Cubano was very well done, but barely had any pickle in it, which made me sad. I opted to add fries and wasn't sad about the small, thin ones I got (very McDonald's-shaped). However, the Pechuga de Pollo Adobada con Escabeche de Calabaza was a disappointment. The grilled chicken was drastically overcooked, probably because they used really lean breast meat. The accompanying Caribbean pumpkin was interesting, but too small. The other side of rice and beans was perfect, though--great bean texture and lots of savory flavor. With tax and tip included, our meal came out to $33. $33! You can't even get lunch for one person for that price at 90% of Manhattan restaurants south of Central Park. The outside has always made me walk past, but I finally decided to try it tonight as I've gotten sick of Chipotle. Plus it's always a good feeling to support our local businesses. While I wouldn't call this spot a "hidden gem" of Hoboken by any stretch, I did thoroughly enjoy my burrito. I got a regular grilled chicken burrito and everything that came with it. Upon my first bite it was apparent that the chicken was more like hibachi chicken than grilled chicken (not a complaint but not what was advertised). If you try it you'll know exactly what I mean. No complaints about anything else. They could have made more of an effort in evenly distributing the contents of the burrito but thats just me being picky. If it means anything to whoever may be reading this...the burrito felt like it weighed 5 pounds and I found myself eating the entire thing. So why 3/5 stars? This burrito cost me $16! While the ingredients were fresh and the portion was huge, it's hard to justify one burrito at almost 20 bucks. Complain about Chipotle's portions all u want, but my bowl there only costs me like $12. I'd definitely go back again at some point, but it just didn't taste good ENOUGH to justify the price tag.
