This place is a gem - maybe - that's why only 4 stars. I happened to be near 12th and Broadway which can a hit-or-miss place to be. A couple of places recommended to me for a late breakfast/ early lunch were closed so I had to improvise. I found El Rincón was in walking distance. I had no problems walking the route, but it's not date worthy for most people. There are the sights of edge places in the city and there are smells. So if you can drive up, that might be best. If you drive up, you come upon a little urban oasis of casual south of the border dining. There's. Sidewalk seating that could be nice - I'm too jaded for the sidewalk here - does that make me a bad person? Inside it's nice and comfortable diner seating. Food is great. Portions were larger than expected. The person at the counter seemed nice enough. I will go again. Why 1 star deduction? It felt like some orders were slid in front of mine putting me under some time pressure for a meeting I needed to get to. Everything else was great. So I will try again. read more

I came to El Rincon Enchilado under some unusual circumstances since they were dealing with plumbing issues and had their dining room closed for a couple of days. We were still able to order takeout, but since we couldn't sit inside, we ended up eating outside, which honestly affected the whole experience. The area is downtown, so you're surrounded by a lot of unhoused individuals and it felt a bit uncomfortable and unsafe at times. To top it off, there's a church right across the street and during the 30 minutes we were there, the bells rang twice and were insanely loud. Maybe it's just a Sunday thing, but wow, it was impossible to ignore and definitely didn't make for a relaxing meal. Between the noise and the surroundings, we found ourselves wanting to leave as soon as possible. That being said, the woman helping us was very kind, honest, and communicative about what was going on, which I really appreciated. I ordered the poblano omelette based on her recommendation and presentation wise it looked great. It came with a side of fruit that included tangerines and jicama, which I actually enjoyed a lot and ate first while my food cooled down. The omelette itself was decent but some parts of the eggs felt a little overcooked and just not as fluffy or flavorful as I hoped. The potatoes were fine, nothing bad but nothing memorable either. My friend ordered three tacos, one shrimp and two other types, and unfortunately they tasted far from fresh, which was probably the biggest disappointment of the meal. I originally found this spot on TikTok and was really excited to try it, but overall it felt a bit overhyped based on our experience. I'm giving it three stars mainly for the food and the friendly service, but between the environment and the quality not quite hitting the mark, I probably won't be coming back. went not too long ago, and I got the chilaquiles guajillo and they were so good. And they put a good amount of everything you need for the price. I only paid $12 for this and that includes the add on of the meat. The place was clean, and the service was good. Stumbled upon El Rincon Enchilado as my family and I were trying to find a good brunch spot before hitting the Santee Alley. Overall experience was extremely mediocre. Though the staff was nice the service was a bit slow, it took them about 15 minutes to take our orders after we sat down, and there were only two other tables being waited on. In our experience, we concluded that looks can be very deceiving. The presentation of the food was aesthetic, but in terms of flavor it was very lackluster. To start off, the menus were very vague and had no descriptions of what ingredients were in their plates. I will say, though their prices were pretty reasonable. The café de olla was just regular coffee, no cinnamon no Piloncillo. One of my family members got a burrito where the potatoes were not fully cooked or softened. There was actually a few pieces of burned/hardened potato (probably left over from a different batch) found in the burrito. The Chilaquiles were also mediocre as two of my family members got Chilaquiles in salsa arbol and the other Chilaquiles were the poblanos. We ordered scrambled eggs and pancakes for our youngest cousin who stated that the eggs were cold when she received them. The omelette mexicano was lacking significant flavor. There was no salt in the omelette and the egg tasted as it had been cooked in quite a bit of oil. The potato situation was the same as the burrito, lacking salt and a bit undercooked. The french toast and pancakes were probably the only great thing we had. The food overall was lacking a lot of flavor and seasoning. We had to ask for salt and salsas that helped the experience a little bit. Absolutely no hate to this establishment, but our expectations were higher and we would respectfully not return. read more

My daughter was using the restroom here, and a Man opened the door using keys, he didn't even knock to ask if anyone was inside he just opened the door. I pushed the door shut but it seemed like he didn't even react right away when I saw him. From pancakes, to chilaquiles, plates and burritos -- I like the variety of menu items and simple offerings. I ordered the Asada Burrito and had no expectations but man...I was quite surprised! Their hand made tortillas are so soft and delicious, they provide a very generous of guac (which is why I come back) that is is so fresh and the quality of meat is quite stunning. We've all had underwhelming meals before...but El Rincon is fresh. If you're looking for a simple, delicious, home-like authentic Mexican food -- El Rincon is a solid staple. I can tell that the owner truly cares about quality of ingredients at an affordable price, but most importantly I appreciate the customer service. I've been to this location 2 times already since I work in the area and it's walking distance, the food has been amazing both times, I tried it for breakfast/ brunch once and the second time for a late lunch. I had the French toast for breakfast with berries and a cafe the olla, it was amazing. For lunch I had the carne asada plate, that came with rice, beans, and HANDMADE TORTILLAS (so amazing) and a side of plantains. my friend had the chilaquiles and they were so good also. The place just opened I believe and I'm so happy that it did since it will be one of my favorite spots to have lunch. It's clean and spacious and has many tables to dine in, I also saw some tables outside for anyone with pets since I seen ppl dining with dogs outside.
