Omar helped me choose what to order and I'm so glad he recommended the Mole! They make their Mole in-house and it felt like a nice home cooked meal. It's so hard to find authentic cuisine like this so I was in for a treat! The Mole comes with two pieces of chicken in their signature mole, a side of rice, and your choice between corn or house-made tortillas. I chose the house-made ones! I let the owner / chef know that we came for the concha (it is absolute BEST...warmed, & served with abuelita hot chocolate for dipping) but we stayed for the Tacos Colorado... At this point I feel confident saying this place has earned a permanent spot on my list of favorites. It is always nice to find a restaurant that delivers the same quality again and again, and that is exactly what I have found here. For my most recent order, I decided to try the Carne Asada plate. The meal comes with a generous portion of carne asada, along with rice, beans, grilled green onions, and a grilled serrano pepper. It's a really complete plate with a lot of flavor. You also get tortillas on the side, with the option to choose either corn or flour. I went with corn tortillas, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out they were hand made. The plate also includes a serving of guac and red salsa. The guac tasted fresh and creamy, and the salsa had a nice kick without being overpowering. As for the carne asada itself, it was excellent. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. I have already left positive reviews about this restaurant before, and this visit only confirmed everything I liked in the past. The food quality remains high, the portions are good, and the flavors are always on point. It is rare to find a place that never lets you down, but this restaurant has managed to do exactly that. Near the corner of Los Angeles and Olympic streets, on Olympic Blvd, it has ample seating, incredibly delicious food, and super affordable prices. My husband ordered the taco de birria, which he really liked. I ordered the taquitos en coloradito. They were willing to make mine with soft (non-fried) tortillas. I'm still savoring the mole and the fluffy rice. It was very delicious. Their staff are all very friendly and helpful, offering recommendations and checking on us throughout our meal. We both ordered the pepino y limon agua fresca and it was so good. Lastly, their restaurant is clean and spacious, allowing people to simply walk in and have a great meal or even just a snack. Doing some shopping downtown LA walked by this place and it grabbed my attention, I had to comeback and try it. It has only been open for a month or so. Place is absolutely welcoming and clean. Adorable decor and the owner, Omar is very professional and attentive. The menu and prices are great. I opted for a breakfast burrito and it's yummy. I stopped by this restaurant for the first time and had such a warm welcome. A few days later I looked at my bank statement, and saw that I accidentally was charged $50 more than my total. I called and the gentleman on the phone was so nice and instantly looked up the transaction--turned out I accidentally typed in $50 on the iPad for the tip. He refunded me right away. Upon entering we were welcomed to a very inviting space that had great decorating from prints on the walls to small pottery accents. The waitress who took our order was very attentive and friendly. The rice and handmade tortillas were served with both of the dishes and complemented the meals with that homemade feel and taste with a talented chef's finish. We love mole negro and with so many variations it can be hit or miss. This one was a hit! It had all the depth you want in a mole's flavor with the right amount of sweetness. It was served with two chicken legs that were juicy and paired perfectly. The pork in green sauce was fantastic. This is something I order from most menus and found that this one may be my favorite. The spice level was that great combination of heat that hits but doesn't linger and fresh flavors. The pork fell off the bone and was well seasoned.
