Good food, reasonable prices, awesome service! Our server remembered my order add ons from two weeks ago! A great neighborhood restaurant

Not very friendly as someone who's been in multiple times. One time I came in, ordered an app and a drink at the bar, 3 different servers came up and kept asking if I was ready for the bill. Never asked if I wanted another drink, or anything else. Mind you, this was at 2 pm on a Saturday. Why are you rushing me? Then... someone just dropped the bill off to me and walked away. I wanted another drink! I only had 1. Another guy came behind the bar and I told him I wanted another drink but someone brought me my bill after people kept asking if I wanted to pay out. What is going on here?!?! He quickly made me another drink, but the energy was off. I could tell they started talking about me, as the staff kept walking by and staring at me. A week later I came back, wanting to give it another chance. This time, great service up until I finished and I asked for the bill. The guy from last time walked up to me to drop it off, threw his hands up and said "here's the bill are you okay??" Like wow. Unreal. Being sarcastic and acting scared to drop off the bill, and making a big deal like that? I don't know what's with this place, they always stared at me as if I had horns growing out of my head. This place is a very definition of a local Mexican joint and although it's located on a reasonably busy street almost everyone there is from a few miles away. Wide range of Tex-Mex food, including seafood and steaks with plenty of people watching soccer on the TV in one room or a nice quiet dining in the other I usually get takeout and as you can see by the attached photos, they don't short you on volume. read more

There are no words to describe how much I love this restaurant. Me and my family have been coming here ever since I could remember. At least 13 or 14 years. every time we go, it's always the same waiters. They always greet us and give us the best service we can ask for. The food is just amazing. For the price you get and all the food you get, it's AMAZING. No other Mexican restaurant is this cheap and this amazing. The food is always so good! Every time we go here, it's always one to remember. We have had countless family meals here and even now I bring my friend and introduce them to this place I love. It is your average neighborhood Tex-Mex restaurant. Plenty of space for get together. Prices and portions are up to par with other neighboring restaurants. Food taste is bland, which may be good for some people who may like that taste. May return to taste other expanded entrees that may be their specialty. read more

This is a decent Mexican restaurant with the typical fare found at most Tex Mex restaurants. The service was good. Chips and salsa arrived promptly and they took our drink order shortly after being seated. Not all places do everything well but it was strange that they used American cheese on top of the enchilada. WTF? On the other hand, the Carnitas was some of the best that I've ever tasted and I highly recommend them! Get the Carnitas here and you won't go wrong! read more

Been eating here for many years. Food is very good. Service is great always and they seem to hold on to most of their help as we see them over and over. Everything is cooked right and tastes great. My wife and I enjoy the margaritas a little too much. I prefer half frozen and half on the rocks. She prefers frozen. Regardless they are very good. Not to sweet, just right. Checked this place out for the first time last evening. They were highly recommended to me by a co-worker. So I read all the negative YELP reviews and went in with the mindset of finding positive things to talk about. I failed. The margaritas were terribly weak. The beef fajitas were not just poorly seasoned, I doubt they were seasoned at all. Tortillas were definitely not fresh. The queso dip was not the absolute worst, but close. The reason I give this a 2 star instead of a 1 is that the service was good and the bacon-wrapped shrimp that was part of our dinner was pretty decent. Not gonna say I would NEVER be back, but if every other TexMex joint on this side of town closed, it would be a definite maybe. read more

I like it, I had some grisly something in my chicken but the last time I went it was better

El Rincon is one of the few Mexican restaurants I hadn't tried yet so I thought I would give it a shot last night. I called and placed an order to go. The woman on the other end of the line had my order correct and she said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I live about 15-20 minutes from the restaurant so I went ahead and headed that way. My food was waiting on me when I arrived. The same lady who took my order was at the counter. She went over my order again which was Chicken Flauta Plate, California Burrito with Fajita Beef, and a Large Chile con Queso. I pay and head home. I get home and start to eat and realize my burrito had chicken instead of beef. I know it's not that big of a deal but still. So I call just to let them know and see if maybe I can get some sort of discount the next time I come in. The lady answered the phone again and I explained what had happened. She said the order said fajita beef and she wasn't sure why the cook put fajita chicken. She asked if I could come back right then to get a new burrito (now it's like 8pm) and I told her I couldn't come back right then but I could come back tomorrow. She said well I'm sorry about that and hung up on me. I called back two times after that and they would not answer the phone. I guess they have caller ID. I will definitely be making a trip there today with my receipt. I understand restaurants make mistakes but to hang up on a customer is just so unprofessional. The burrito ended up getting eaten and all of the food was really good. I will go back for sure. I just think they need a little customer service lesson. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I had the best enchiladas I've had in Houston at El Rincon last night. They were the Anaheim Enchiladas - an unusual concoction of fajita beef stuffed Anaheim chilies rolled up in tortillas and smothered in cheese and a sour cream sauce. The fajita meat was tender and flavorful, the anaheim chilies had the right level of spiciness and the sauce and cheese were delicious. We will be back and I may try other things, but right now I'm ready for more Anaheim Enchiladas! read more

Probably one of the most unappetizing places I've ever been to. Due to the fact that this is a smoking restaurant, chances are that you'll end up smelling like a Vegas casino by the time you leave. They have a smoking section, which really means nothing because the entire restaurant reeks. The food is ok. Very cheesy and rich. The staff was friendly and my order did not take long to come out. I've been here plenty of times and would normally give it three stars all The time. However, I finally broke free of fajitas and my taco salad, and I tried the Mexican tacos! They were awesome, and they totally hit the spot! My group and I were definitely the loudest table there, and it was nice to have service that seemed very laid-back and relaxed. Once you explore. Around the menu, you'll start to notice that there are definitely some signature items that are worth getting. The Mexican tacos are definitely a must try. You also should try the tilapia also. When we ask question about the menu the waiter didn't know anything about the food. The one time we tried this restaurant, the staff was nice, the food was okay. What gives the two star rating was when they sat a table of five, and one of the diners had his pocket dog with him. Yes, his Yorkie. It wasn't a service dog that I could see, and he kept feeding it scraps from the table as he held it on his lap. I'm an animal lover, and I'm guilty of feeding my dogs from the table as well. Just not inside a restaurant. But then, my dog is a 150lb mastiff, not a Yorkie. I just can't get past it. The food was okay. I had the beef fajita nachos. They were pretty tasty. I would definitely get those again. But the restaurant itself is falling apart. There is very cheap lighting throughout and old, water-damaged ceilings tiles all over. The place has really poor decor too, everything is just kind of thrown on the walls. And while we were paying for lunch, one of the ceiling tiles actually fell down completely! Luckily it didn't land on someone, or someone's table or someone's food! So one of the waiter's had to put it back up while we all watched. The entire restaurant needs to be revamped completely! I love this place. Every time I come home, I will always stop here at least once. I get the same thing every time, but it works for me so why change? The chicken enchilada al carbon is fantastic. It doesn't look like it gets as much business as it used to when I lived here 10 years ago, but it still tastes just as good. For me, this place is old faithful. Bland chicken fajitas with only one slice of bell pepper and no sour cream. The shrimp cocktail had shrimp that were not deveined. The flan tasted like cottage cheese. I've had lots of flan before and this was the worst I've ever tasted. We tried this place for the first time tonight. My boyfriend had the Alamo and loved it. The portions were great and for a good price. He however thought the salsa could be thicker I thought everything was just right. And for us being smokers we liked they had a smoking section. Staff was friendly and service was quick. After I paid and got my food I asked for a few more small cups of salsa they women goes over to manager to ask if it was ok she give me more salsa (note they were very small cups). Been in a few times, they have good northern Mexican food. I came in 04/10/2018 for the lunch special, we came in at 2:58pm their lunch special ends at 3:00pm. Granted should have came in a little sooner. We had to argue with them over getting the special. They claim when you check out is when they enter the lunch special. You can come in at 2:30pm and finish eating at 3:30pm, even through you came in for the lunch special you will not get the lunch special price because they enter your meal as you finish and get the receipt. If you want the lunch special COME IN EARLY and finish eating before 3:00pm. read more

I have to give an update from my previous review...I came here on a Friday night and had the cheese enchiladas. They were the worst cheese enchiladas I have ever had!! They were burnt black! Who in their right mind would look at a plate that had completely black enchiladas and say "These look delicious! The customer will love these for sure!" So I was a bit surprised they were served to me at all! The waiter dropped them off and then was never seen again...I will not be back! Wow does this place suck. This used to be a regular place for us. Not sure if the ownership changed or if they food service company changed to some crapass place like Sysco. Won't be going here again. Chicken was precooked and prebagged. Even the kids couldn't eat the cheese enchiladas. I like to consider myself a little bit of a Mexican food connoisseur as I have tried many restaurants in the Houston area. I have to say, this restaurant hands down delivered some of the tastiest and freshest Mexican food I have ever had! After complimenting the waiter on his excellent service and also the food, he told me they have had the same Chef for 15 years. I would hold on to him too if he was rocking my kitchen the way he's rocking theirs!! Definitely worth a stop! Price is moderate ($9-$15 average)..and portion sizes very generous.
