    the 'Speedy Gonzales'
    Eric K.

What I like about El Rodeos is that the items on the menu seem consistent from location to location which is great. I stopped here today for lunch and to commiserate with a colleague over food - on a tight schedule, so I ordered the Speedy Gonzalez because it is ....speedy. As expected, the food came quite quickly & quality was above average. Always warned about the hot plate...which is great as the plates are usually just short of glowing red ;) Kidding aside - service here is great, food is always tasty, atmosphere is upbeat. I've always been happy with my experiences here & today was no exception. Recommended!

I had lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't too busy, just 2 other tables. The atmosphere was strongly Mexican as it should be. I am surprised to see lunch special was still available on a Saturday, but I order my favorite, Beef Fajitas. I like chunky meats. We just about finished the chips and salsa when the entre finally came, with a sizzling fanfare! Overall, it was good. But in the end I couldn't finish because it was very very greasy when I got to the bottom of the dish. That, and the fact our waitress didn't come check with us after the dish was served are the reason I am taking a star off.

Absolutely delicious. Stopped by for lunch on a shopping trip. The service is good and the food is great. Seating is a little tight in the rear for the restaurant as it wasn't very crowded when we asked to be reseated.

Absolutely ridiculous. This is the dinner Steak Salad? Obnoxious. I definitely will not order or visit El Rodeo, moving forward.

It was literally like they took the beans from the can and put them in a cup there is nothing in this soup no onions no garlic no veggies just beans ....maybe I was expecting more

The decors were deliberate and cute; I get it, I knew I was in a Mexican restaurant. Menu was bigger than I had expected but we stuck with the lunch menu. We ordered Lunch Specials #5 (Beef Enchilada, beans and rice), #6 (Beef Burrito and Enchilada), and #7 (Chicken Burrito and Enchilada). The food came quickly and looked "standard". However, they weren't piping hot. just lukewarm. Thumbs down. And the servings were smaller than we expected. Another thumb down. We ordered the Fried Ice Cream ($5.59) for dessert. It looked good, and tasted -- well all desserts taste good. But knowing what it could have been, I was honestly disappointed. It's as if (and may as well be) that it was pre-made and stored in the refrigerator. The crust was cold and stale, not hot and crunchy. So it was headed for a 2 star rating until when the bill came -- it was a lot lower than I had expected. Instead of $5.95 for #5, and $8.25 for #6 and #7, everything is at $5.25 lunch special price!! So I bumped up a star for qualifying a cheap eat!

I had a dish here a couple of weeks ago, w/chorizo, chicken, beans and rice. I couldn't remember what it was called on the menu, but it sure was good. Had the spicy fajitas and I couldn't eat two bites. Too spicy for me, but it tasted good. Margarita was good too. The drink, not the waitress Alma was our waitress and she was very nice!

Visited here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Don't get me wrong...the food is decent. The complimentary chips and salsa they serve are really good. I ordered the lunch Burrito San Jose and I really enjoyed it. Serving sizes are small and service was just ok--reason for only 3 stars. I just feel you can go elsewhere and get more for your money.

Nice cozy and of course lime margarita !!

Food was good but presentation was so so no green parsley or lemon peel on lunch special I ordered ! Taste was good rice and beans standard in most mex food places . They have some how become like franchise American franchise food outlets! This el Dorado tried to continue traditional With standard taste of 'old' authentic food outlets vs new Moe's -Chipotles .. Cost very reasonable and served on table hot... Salsa little liquidy with chips but still included in price of entree- free /can't beat it

Over the past eight years I've truly fallen in love with El Rodeo's authentic feel and deliciously exquisite cuisine. I've eaten at both El Rodeo on the Carlisle Pike and in Lemoyne dozens of times. It's a great place to go for a lunch meeting or take your partner out for a relaxing and delicious dinner together. The ambiance is charming, with it's hit Mexican music soundtrack and clay tile roofs jutting into the building simulating an outdoor patio experience indoors. But best of all, El Rodeo's food is the best Mexican cuisine around. The homemade chips and salsa are a rare treat that will disappear fast and have you asking for more every time! Confession: sometimes I come here just because I'm in the mood for their chips and cilantro-rich salsa. And if you love the chips and salsa, you'll die for the guacamole bowl appetizer. It's a huge helping that pairs excellently with your chips, or any other dish you order TBH! But my favorite reason I love El Rodeo is the Molecajete: and absolute beast of a meal that arrives in a hot lava rock bowl (your choice of chicken or steak - I always prefer chicken), and will rock your belly like the after party at a show. It's delicious, and almost always leaves me with enough to enjoy the next day too. Highly recommend.

El rodeo has never ceased to amaze me. Its menu is VERY extensive, with so many options that it seems impossible to try everything in one lifetime. The food is consistently delicious, it comes out REALLY fast, and comes at a great price. They also have great unlimited chips and salsa. My usual pick is the Grande Dinner ($10). I love the grande dinner because it offers a great sampling of what El Rodeo has to offer (beef taco, chile relleno, chalupa, beef burrito, beef enchilada, beans, and rice). Plus, i never finish it (as the name implies). If you're not feelin' the grande dinner (or if you're in the mood for seafood), i would suggest the shrimp enchiladas ($9) or the fish tacos ($9). El Rodeo always seems to have fresh and perfectly cooked seafood. Anyway, if you're looking for a great local mexican restaurant, this is the place to go.

Rolled into Mechanicsburg Breakfast & Pizzeria at the extremely conventional breakfast hour…read moreof...5pm on a Friday. I was the only diner in the place, which honestly made me feel like I had just rented out a private pizza studio. Bonus: plenty of free parking right out front because it's tucked into a little strip mall. Before I even ordered, the menu caught my attention--an eclectic mashup of pizza and tacos, with breakfast versions of both served all day long. It's honestly the kind of menu you'd expect to stumble upon in a dream where the universe says, "Go ahead, choose joy." I originally planned to be "responsible" and just grab a slice to test the waters, but they didn't have any slices ready and would've had to make an entire pizza just for me. That felt like a sign from the Universe to stop lying to myself. If they were firing up the oven anyway, why not go big? So I took the cosmic hint and ordered their semi-Instagram-famous Mexican Breakfast Pizza: eggs, chorizo, mozzarella, cheddar... a 10" "personal" pizza (their wording, not mine) for $14. Twist my arm. Drinks live in the cooler by the door and you just grab whatever you want and pay at the end. As I was mid-debate between soda and water, the guy behind the counter popped out from behind the curtain and said, "Hey, since you're getting a breakfast pizza, if you want juice... orange, cranberry, apple... you can have it!" Sir. Apple juice is basically the secret key to my heart. SOLD. He also mentioned they have games and coloring books available--apparently dominoes is the crowd favorite here. Unexpected and charming. A little sign on my table caught my eye: "If you love it, leave a nice review." Challenge accepted. This place was already earning every star. Placed my order at 5:02, snagged a seat by the window to watch the sunset fade and the traffic chaos whirl by. The sign on the wall said "GOOD vibes, GREAT flavors," and let me tell you: an accurate mission statement. At 5:20, my pizza emerged in all its glory--and it. was. stunning. The crust hit that sweet middle ground between thin and deep dish: sturdy, doughy, beautifully crisped on the edges, and wonderfully yeasty. The eggs-to-cheese ratio was perfection, and the chorizo? A knockout. Spicy, chunky, far more personality than the usual breakfast-pizza sausage situation. I ate 1.5 slices and boxed up the rest, which will easily feed me for another three days because, yes, I believe in leftovers as a lifestyle. As I was leaving, the man behind the counter introduced himself--Sebastian--and he had been nothing but attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. Service like that sticks with you. Total damage: $22.26 including tip. For great food, even better service, and days of leftovers? That's what I call winning. I'll definitely be back--probably at another totally normal breakfast hour.

Order at the counter and your food is brought out promptly. The owner made sure everything was good and kept asking if I needed anything. Making customers feel important is, well, important, so I'm glad they aim to please. Pizza slice was really good, could've been a bit more well done, but that's my preference. The birria quesadilla and (thick) consommé were out of this world excellent. Can't wait to come back and have that again and try some other dishes. All day breakfast is cool and a nice option to have in this area. Try this place and see for yourself.

However, this is the second time I have had chicken or beef in my fajitas (specified vegetarian). We picked up an order tonight after traveling back into town. I ordered fajitas. Unfortunately, there was steak in my food & all of the toppings for fajitas were not included in the order (rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, etc.) despite paying extra for these. I also want to warn that the refried beans are not vegetarian (which is pretty normal). They do have vegetarian beans, you just need to specifically recommend them. For anyone veg or vegan, you know this can really ruin an evening- specifically on a takeout order when there isn't much you can do once you get home. El Sol has great food, margs, and a lovely vibe. For meat eaters, I 100% recommend. All others with restrictions, please be overly specific to a waiter or on a togo order. We will definitely return, but I will be much more cautious. Maybe just get margs with chips & salsa next time

The chips come out PIPING HOT and are fresh fried, as they should be, but seems to be rare for Mexican restaurants in the area these days... the salsa is incredibly good. It is a touch spicy with a little sweetness, but we loved the flavor. The first basket is free (also not always the norm around here) and a second basket is only $1.50 more - that's amazing! We also got a queso con chorizo to share and the small size was PLENTY. We both decided on taco platters and that was a great choice - we got to try a bunch of meats that way. The al pastor was amazing, as was the carne asada, carnitas, and shrimp taco. The tacos were topped with an amazing guacamole sauce. I got corn tortilla tacos and they were perfectly griddled and warm. My husband enjoyed his flour tortilla tacos. The rice and beans were fresh and hot and delicious too. Food came out quick and exactly as we ordered, even with some modifications! We didn't love the additional red sauce in the squirt bottle that you can add to your food, but the salsa verde in the squirt bottle was good. I ordered an extra salsa to add to my tacos instead. For drinks, there's agua frescas and an extensive soda selection in a case to choose from. My husband was happy to see Mexican Coke. Service was great! Overall, we had two taco platters, queso, two drinks, plus an extra chips and salsa for less than $40. You can't beat it. We will be back!!

Décor was the typical Mexican, with over-the-top paint colors. The dining area was spacious. The waitress greeted us with big smiles. We sat ourselves by the window. I made my order almost in no time for the Mole Poblano; my wife ordered Pechuga en Crema con Champiñones. The food came out in about 10 minutes; both dishes came with 4-5 tortillas. Now, the long-awaited mole sauce -- thick, dark, and complex. I watched a YouTube video on how it's typically made, so I had a level of respect and appreciation for it. It tasted like the popular five-spice bean curd jerky Asian snack -- bold and strong. I liked it very much. My wife's cream chicken, while moist, was bland in comparison. If you're like me, you'd be a bit confused when the bill came. The amounts were different from what the menu showed. Basically, the figures on the bill were the inflated prices that included surcharges for paying with a credit card. If you pay cash, you pay the menu prices instead.

Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough.
