After taking a look for Mexican food in Williamsburg, I stumbled upon this place and what a treat that was. A small establishment off the beaten path that seemed to be filled with locals. I ordered the Enchiladas dish and it was delicious. A great enchilada sauce and a large portion. The house salsa was also quite tasty. The best part of all of this was the expansive menu that gives everyone in your group a choice and the very cheap prices for quality food. We moved to Williamsburg recently and are enjoying trying lots of different restaurants. We've been to three or four Mexican restaurants in the area so far and El Sabor stands out for taste and quality. We lived in Southern California for six years and appreciate well-prepared and flavorful Mexican food. The place is small and the decor is nothing special, but the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The service was also friendly and efficient--we will definitely be regulars! read more

Have been here numerous time and have had a great meal each time. This is definitely one of the few great Mexican restaurants in town.

I've been dragging my feet to write a review, because selfishly I am worried that I will never be able to get a table here and the prices will go way up! You guys, this place is the real deal. Like seriously. I am from Southern CA, and this place legit tastes like home. After talking with Oscar, I found our the owners are from the town next to mine! No wonder it is so good. I have yet to he disappointed. I love this place, because right when you sit down they bring you hot chips and fresh, delicious salsa -- many VA Mexican food places do not do this. I've ordered a variety of entrees - all amazing. My favorite is the combo taquitos plate. Super yum! Enjoy amigos! read more

If you're ever on your way home from Busch Gardens and you're starving, and you think you'd like to patronize a local place instead of a fast food chain, and you see this place...head to the fast food joint. It's unfortunate that the food was pretty awful because the service was good and the people who own the place seem very nice. The carnitas were horrible. 1/2 of the unseasoned meat (or if it was seasoned, it was flavorless) was just pure fat. On the menu, there was no mention that if you order the enchiladas poblanas, they will be smothered in raw onion when served. Scraping off all the onions, left for very little sauce, but what I did taste was pretty good. Salsa was okay, as was the guacamole included with our dinners. The best thing was the cheese quesadilla, but frankly, I could make that at home. After spending $30 on less than mediocre food, I wished we had just stopped at Wendy's. read more

Been here on several occasions and have always enjoyed the food. The food quality fluctuates between decent and amazing depending on the day and what you order. The staff, and Oscar in particular, have always been very friendly and willing to accommodate special orders. We knew this was a fun place because you have to order your Margarita by color, either blue for strong or green for normal. I moved from California to the Williamsburg area during the summer of 2012 and so far this has been the closest thing to a taqueria back home that I can find. WORTH GOING OUT OF THE WAY... We read the other reviews and convinced ourselves to try it. The establishment isn't your normal million dollar attraction, but the staff and food are far better than ANYTHING within 50 miles. Excellent excellent bar skill and PRICES. THE ONLY place that brings out the pitcher with ICE cold mugs with starters (prevents over head). Again, super happy with staff! Don't let the outside fool you!! The food was decent. Not the best, but not the worst either. The portions were huge for the price you paid. But the service was very slow. Took a while to get our food once it was ordered and then much longer to get the check. I'm used to Mexican being a lot quicker. We've been here well over an hour, and most of that time has been waiting for one thing or another. We have been finished eating for almost 15 minutes and still waiting for someone to offer a box and check. We were in the area, but next time, I think we will choose something else. read more

We took a chance based on the incredible reviews on here...and we were let down. First of all, the servers were not attentive at all. Our chip basket sat bone dry for a good 10 minutes. Additionally, We were seated at a booth where the air register was leaking and I was continually hit with cold drops during my meal. Not a pleasant experience. As far as food goes, I had the Mexican pizza, with no chicken. The beef was saltier than the Pacific Ocean. It was unbearable to eat. The tortillas that made the "crust" were pretty good; nice, crispy, and buttery. My husband had Pollo Fundido, and said that it was okay. The kids devoured their cheese quesadillas - but that isn't surprising. All that said, not an overly impressive experience and I don't think we will be back. read more

This is a little "hole in the wall" excellent place. I am from Southern CA and when I saw someone else from So Cal went and loved it, we had to go. The table chips and salsa are amazing on point. I ordered a combo plate, which I think they got wrong because there was no chalupa but instead a tostada but it was all great! the prices are fair and the kids plates are more than enough food. Their margaritas are really good too. They have happy hour too. 2.00 drafts and 2.75 margaritas! Small little restaurant so do try to get there early. I had the combination (chicken, steak, and shrimp) fajitas and my wife had a combo (taco, enchilada, tostada) platter. It was decent but not a knock out. We finished with the flan for dessert and that was really good. We got out for less than $25 plus tip. Can't beat the price. read more

This place was the LAST place I would've considered...AND I WOULD'VE BEEN WRONG!!! From the moment we walked in, we were enthusiastically greeted, seated and provided great service. I wanted to sit outside since it was a nice day; but my group didn't and the waiter said we would be fighting flies because the food was good. Our waiter came over and was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It wasn't five minutes before chips were on the table with the drinks we ordered. Our meals were piping hot and arrived within 15 minutes. The desserts were authentic and delectable all of which were homemade!!! We ordered La Araña, Fried Ice Cream and Flan for desserts. I'm literally sitting at the bar and was expecting to enjoy a drink but I watched the bartender/waitress scoop the chips up with her bare hands right after she wiped her nose. NO hand sanitizing or washing was done between. She also scooped ice into my cup with her hands. This place is not clean and it needs to be avoided at all costs. I do not recommend at all. The staff members working here all used their hands to scoop up the chips which is unsanitary and disgusting. This is not how a good establishment should be run. read more
