This place is definitely a scam and very dangerous. I had an abscess on my gum for 3 days, never experienced anything like this before so I was scared. I was able to get an appointment there on a Saturday but the only options they gave me were barely 30 mins before the available appointment time. I went down there and my mom met me there concerned too. They did several X-rays and then I saw the dentist, she made it sound urgent that I get the tooth out and get an implant $10k! $4K just to extract the tooth. She told me I have stage 3 gum disease and the tooth was already stage 4. She didn't want to drain the abscess, I made sure they put in the prescription for the antibiotic at least, but she wasn't even gonna give me that! I insisted. Yesterday I went to get a 2nd opinion from my family's long time trusted and expert dentist. I had several high quality X-rays done of all my teeth and all my teeth examined. He and the staff present were shocked at my experience at this place and asked for the name of the business so they know what's happening in our South Bay community. I need a deep cleaning done in sections at a time and saving that tooth is priority. This place told me I had significant bone loss, that was not true. I literally could have lost a tooth here for no reason! Theres even a good chance that the root issue can heal back. I'm so glad I trusted the red flags and patterns of this place. Their paperwork is also a bit of a red flag to me and I didn't want to agree to several clauses that said I wasn't required legally to agree to for treatment, yet it forces you to. Not the typical contractual agreement (that's literally what you are signing) for a dental practice. I would even say their financial data & data collection overall clauses are a red flag. read more

I really appreciate El Segundo Modern dentistry, I initially went in for a deal they had on Invisalign and it turned out better than expected! Not only do I have a great deal to move forward with me receiving Invisalign but also the entire treatment plan that Dr. Sherf explained was more than what I asked for with exactly what I want done, explained in full detail for me to come out with a straight teeth and a treatment plan afterwards to perfect my overall smile! Went in for a chipped tooth and was told I needed two root canals and a possible third on top of that. The doctor tried convincing me using AI imagery as oppose to the physical x ray. Scamming 101. The office manager is an amazing con artist, she charged me for x rays after I requested a copy following my unconvincing consultation (fine with me. I wasn't told beforehand and the other receptionist had no idea what to charge me until she told her) and went on to send digital pictures of my tooth in the email instead of the x ray. She apologized like an angel when I called her out for it. This practice is here to print money not fix your teeth. Felt bad for the kids in the waiting room most likely about to get 15 cavities taken care of! Don't go here. Btw. I got a second opinion. No root canals needed! Surprise! read more

It's unfortunate how unprofessional this establishment is. Each time I have visited, the staff front desk was not friendly when booking, called a million times leading up to the appointment after I requested a text for confirmation, rude upon arrival. Always short handed, dental hygienist always different. They call you in for your cleaning & are not set up. The last time I went in, I spent over 3 hours there, multiple X-rays because the person taking them wasn't trained, x-ray machine not working, moved to another room etc. I decided to give one final try. The manager apologized about past experiences with no follow through. I spoke with a dentist (who apparently isn't the one doing the work) on my care plan. The person who handles the authorizations was suppose to follow up going on 2 months ago. I followed up with the manager on 6/23, and she said she would follow up & still hasn't. They pushed for me to do x-rays to charge my insurance and then haven't followed through with all we spoke about. Overall poor experience multiple times. read more

If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. My daughter had swelling in her gums, after a teeth cleaning 3 days prior, and visited out of an abundance of precaution. She was told by the doctor that she needed oral surgery, braces (again) and that he "saw" a cavity on a tooth...without a scan performed. Images of her mouth were taken. When she asked for the images to be emailed to her, she was charged $35. Well, those images were shared with another oral surgeon and a dentist. Those consulted on the 2nd opinion were astonished that surgery was recommended for simple inflamed gums. This place is unscrupulous and their behavior and advice is borderline malpractice. read more

I've never written a yelp review before (other than once cause they said they'd give me a free cookie) but the staff here really goes above and beyond. I've been coming here for almost 4 years now and I have SEVERE dental anxiety, I've had close to 10 appointments with them now and each time I'm a crying fearful mess but their team is so kind and patient, they're the only dentist I'll go to. I even moved out of state and I'm still going back to the when I go to LA. I have major gum disease issues due to autoimmune issues (and because I wait too long between cleanings because I'm scared) and have novocaine resistance and they accommodate me and help me everytime. Their team was patient and continuously waited till I was numb even though it made the whole process take longer. When I went there the first time, I thought I was a lost cause, I had major gum regression and it was disconnecting from my teeth, now I have a normal smile and don't feel embarrassed when people can see my gums when I smile. Thank you guys! It feels like a miracle and I'm to a point where I am voluntarily making my appointments, not waiting till it gets so bad that my partner steps in. If you have dental and anxiety and gum issues I highly recommend. It's the cleanest, calmest, highest quality office I've seen. had a broken tooth they filled in and they never put the crown. i was given motrin for the pain and no antibiotics. the other 5 appointments they did nothing and the promise of the antibiotics just kept goin but hey the dentist that was goin to put the crown on my tooth wanted me to drop $20,000 on pulling 4 wisdom teeth out. so this place left me with my tooth just out there still in pain and infection in my mouth that has gotten worse. all i required was for you to fix 1 thing and not be like mechanic and take out a list of things that need to be fix. read more

Dr Kwok is amazing. She is the only Dentist that made me feel important about taking care of myself and caring about the health of my mouth and my smile. I feel that they know what they need to do and are conscious of checking on how I am doing as they do the work needed to install the dental implants I need done. The time it takes is dependent upon how long each step takes to heal, as I have learned. I started this program 7 months ago and every appointment since has shown me the improvements that has made a difference and the health of my mouth is finally improved from my condition in the past. I know the same care is given to the other patients this office has because I hear it and I see it in the care this office do what they do. I don't know if it matters whether I am a young kid or an older adult. But all my life I have visited various dental offices and each time I felt that the problem I was complaining about was what was fixed. When I went to Modern Dentistry El Segundo with a killer tooth ache 2 days before Christmas Eve, Dr Kwok, asked me, if I wanted just take care of my tooth ache or do I want to take care of my mouths health and put a smile on my face.
