I have driven past this establishment for many years now and I finally decided to stop in. I am now kicking myself for not doing so earlier. I showed up at 5:30 PM on Friday evening and the shop closes at 6:00 PM. I was worried that I was too late and would be turned away, but I was welcomed in by Stephanie (the owner) who was busily cutting a gentleman's hair. A few minutes later it was my turn in the chair. The conversation meandered just like the mighty Mississippi. We talked about birthdays, cooking, joint pain, life in the southwest and growing herbs (for cooking of course). Before I knew it, I was looking squared away and it was 6:30 PM. Stephanie is not only a master haircutter, but a master of conversation, and a plethora of knowledge as well. Gave this spot a try when I moved from Long Beach back to the South Bay. Been going ever since I see some people are not happy about one person aka the owner cutting hair and having conversation with the client aka taking to long. Reasons why I have no problem waiting and it's never long. 1. The owner has unique conversation with her clients they are always interesting and I sometimes end up joining the conversation (I know Amazing to think strangers can actually put away a smart phone and talk to another human) 2. The owner gives everyone sitting in that chair the same interest in having a conversation on something they are interested in (This boys and Girls is a old fashion thing called Customer Service) or Manners CRAZY I KNOW!!!!! 3. The owner does not charge for what she doesn't do EX: Yes I want a comb over with a high Razor fade. The barber says no problem and it shows it cost more on the wall for a razor fade BUT then they use a clipper that "cuts like a straight razor" no hot lather no razor no hot towel just another set of clippers and $5 more bucks??? NOT this barber she will tell you I don't use straight razors I use the machine not at extra cost.(WAIT she's not ripping people off it's crazy I know lol) 4. She knows how to cut hair I've never had a bad cut and I'm that comb over razor fade cut my part in because my hair parts like a broken windshield customer with the jacked up calic situation on the back. (Yes I always tip her for dealing with all that The Lord was like I have a headache when creating my hairline) Bottom line this place is not packed with pomades for sale offering you a beer and full of barbers that will see you sitting there at your appointment time but his buddy walks in so he takes him and tells you to wait. It would have been my son's first haircut at this barbershop, but I had to walk out because the overweight lady which I'm guessing is the owner was extremely rude. She said I had to wait outside...I said ok, but first wanted to show her a picture of the haircut my 14 year old usually gets and then she aggressively asks twice "What, he can't talk"! She added other comments and questions which were rude and unprofessional. read more

I found El Senor barbor salon as they are located next to one of my favorite mexican food restaurants in Torrance and I have to say I will definitely be coming back to get my hair cut from Stephanie again! As a regular customer to supercuts and fantastic sams all my life I wasn't sure what to expect, Stephanie cut my hair super quick and noticeably cleaner than other salons. I gave this place 2 stars because the barber has been able to cut my hair correctly before but it seems that when I go back for a touch-up it always turns out to be a bad cut. For example, 6 weeks ago I came in with a full head of hair because I let my hair grow out, she was able to cut my hair perfectly with no lines (faded the sides very well). However, 2 weeks later I come in for a touch-up and she leaves me with lines almost like a bowl cut and uses what seems to be blunt edge sheers that leave your hair with square ends instead of fine tip ends. I wish she would be consistent..maybe talk less and focus more on the haircut. read more

This place is the best. You can't get a good haircut at an affordable price nowadays, but El Senor did it. I brought in my 8 month old for a hair cut and Stephanie did a great job. The atmosphere is great, I love that it's a family place and you have that personal feeling that you don't get at the haircut chains like Fantastic Sams, Supercut, etc. We're definitely coming here for all family cuts from now on. read more

I went here for the first time this past weekend. My usual barber which cuts my hair was gone for the week when my buzz cut was due. So I went on yelp to check out reviews, somehow this place stood out from long time customers that came here from childhood to adults, it reminded me of back home growing up when you keep going back to those great mom and pops or family business that won't make you even consider going anyplace else. I read how this father and daughter duo just made people keep coming back by their passion in what they do with their positive and friendly attitude with great conversations. I see now the daughter keeps the business going due to her father passed away a few years back. I love seeing someone who enjoys what their doing and extremely good at what they do while being so efficient like she can do this in her sleep. While waiting the atmosphere in here makes time go fast, I had 3 in front of me and it flew by like i was next. In my lifetime with job experiences I saw a lot of customer service and motivational films and just one i saw stood to me out of all, but I can see Stephanie easily being featured in one of her own and could easily top that. Where I'm from growing up, everybody goes where everyone knows your name and that's why they seem to keep a lot of regulars over the years. I unfortunately will never have the pleasure to get to experience seeing the two of them in action together or get to know the original owner like the regulars or old timers did, but just that one day I was in her shop getting a haircut you could feel a presence there like she wasn't working alone. read more

I love this place great people great atmosphere great hair cuts. They got toys on hand for my kids. Its clean. The people are great stef cuts my hair and I love her she's awesome her dads great to juan has a great personality and is fun to talk to. I used to go to supercuts but their people change to much they suck at cutting hair and they are in personable. I came here and fell in love.
