Not really a food truck. More like a truck with a trailer behind it. Whatever--this is OUTSTANDING Mexican seafood. The prices are high. Much higher than you would expect from a trailer/truck that looks like this. But the food is very, very good. We tried the lobster quesadilla, a shrimp burrito, and 3 street chicken street tacos. The tacos were 3 for $9 but were packed with delicious, fresh chicken. The shrimp burrito (about $15, yikes) was not small but not enormous but it was PACKED with incredibly fresh shrimp. Both the quesadilla and the burrito had an amazing smoky flavor to them. You can get enormous crappy burritos from any old taco shop for about $8 or $9. The shrimp burrito was pricey but terrific. I like a good food truck, and I am surely a fan of one that makes a great grilled fish burrito as this one. That being said, I ordered the "wild" grilled mahi mahi fish burrito for $7.00. The burrito came with freshly prepared pico de gallo with mango, shredded cabbage, a house chipotle sauce, and of course the griddled mahi mahi fish all wrapped in a soft warm tortilla. The burrito was quite tasty and the pico with the chopped and cubed mango pieces was great, but as whole, the burrito did need more mahi mahi because the burrito was just not generously filled as it should of been. The mahi mahi was well seasoned and prepared, perhaps a little over, but still was moist and tender. Regardless of the what I felt was a lack of fish, it still was a very good burrito. I tried all three of their salsa that came in the plastic squeeze bottles and they were all terrific and packed some very good heat. The gents who own El Shrimp Bucket are from Mazathlan and still have family back home that run and own a fishery that specializes in shrimp. They receive only the best Mexican White Shrimp from the fishery, so next time, I for see a pile of unshelled and cooked shrimp sitting in front of me. read more

First off, I don't feel like I could try what I wanted because the menu prices were so darn high. I saw at least 4 people look at the menu and walk away, I'm sure because of price. The pricing is WAY too high! A carne asada burrito for $16.50? A fish burrito for $19.50? 3 Shrimp Tacos for $14.50? Cummon, this is a joke. I'm a little bummed that this wasn't as good as I had hoped. I'm a huge fan of seafood but this was not a particularly good experience for me. They came out to Carlsbad and setup shop around our offices. We have various new food trucks that come out weekly and I decided to give it a try since the theme was seafood. Looking at the menu, they have some of the steepest prices for a food truck..! I went with the lobster quesadilla for $8.50, which isn't horrible; but I also wanted some fries, so I got the sweet potato fries for another $8.50. I was really banking on these fries being amazing for being the same price as the lobster.. When I got my food, the fries were a decent size portion, but there weren't that many fries- they were just very big, thick cut fries... they weren't horrible, but definitely not worth the $8. While they had the occasionally sweet taste of the fries that I love, most of them were over salted. My lobster quesadilla came out half burnt as well. The lobster was fresh, but the rest of the quesadilla was not up to par. It was overly salty as well. This $20 meal was very much a disappointment.. The service wasn't anything great either. It took a long wait (15mins) before I could order something as if they were behind on orders.. but there were only 2 other people who had ordered food from here. Various food trucks come to our work during the week which are good but usually the same, burgers, loaded fries of some sort, heavy foods. It's good to have something lighter. The fish tacos are not battered it's a whole piece of fish. 3 for 10+change is average and they're very good the home made salsas the owner made and has at the pick up window are delicious! Sorry, but this was a hugely disappointing experience. Before I start, I have to admit I am not a fan of lunch trucks. They are typically too expensive and serve micro-amounts of food. It's a scheme that is ripe for ripping people off. But, in the spirit of spreading the business, I will occasionally try one. Almost every time I walk away disappointed. Today I ordered two tacos -- shrimp and ribeye. For starters, the shrimp was a joke. I'm talking shrimp smaller than my thumbnail. There were a total of 4 or 5 of these tiny, miniature shrimp in my taco. Oh, and they use the street taco tortillas. These things are tiny! Whatever happened to serving a regular sized taco? Anyhow, I took one bite and nearly spit it out.... horrible flavor. Maybe I'm not used to the California foo-foo cuisine of late, but I know bad tasting food when I eat it. I was able to obtain a satisfactory taste by removing most of the arugula, but that left me with a tiny, itty-bitty taco that lasted all of two bites! I paid $5.50 for this taco. What a ripoff! Then there was the rib-eye taco. I'm not convinced this was real rib-eye. It looked more like a cheap cut of meat chopped up finely so you couldn't recognize what cut it is. Then they put a huge wallop of guacamole on the top.... so much that this was a guacamole taco, not a meat taco. The flavor was mediocre and the taco was, again, tiny. I am sitting here after eating both tacos and still feel hungry. Mind you, I paid over $12 with tip for this meal. For that much, I could have walked across the street to Souplantation to have an awesome salad and soup, with bread and dessert. I would have been satisfied and no feeling of indignation. This experience has left even more of a bitter taste in my mouth regarding food trucks. Now, I will be even less inclined to stop at one of these food trucks for lunch. Just look at the photo I posted to see what I mean. These people should be ashamed for serving such mediocre food for a premium price. I know I'll never be back, and nor will I recommend it to anyone. Finally, I am suspect of some of these reviews. Because they are not in line with my experience at all. read more

I received nothing but 5 star reviews from everyone, asking if we can have them back! Felipe and Adriana are so friendly, and can even adjust their menu to your liking. Wow, the best Mexican seafood food truck in town. I know seafood as I've eaten sea food from Ensenada (the Mecca of seafood). I'm amazed I've found great sea food here locally. I talked to the owner. He's actually the chef too Felipe is his name. I asked why his food tastes so much better and he said because he makes everything from scratch daily. Definetly over priced for something small but the food is good. Here's my problem.. I was charged $31 for 2 tacos and a plate of ceviche. I was completely fine paying for it. But when I received my order I was told I only bought one taco and a ceviche plate. I said I was waiting for one more and the girl said I was only charged for one. So as I was walking away I thought that was a little too expensive.. so I went back and asked for a receipt. All of a sudden the order of two tacos appeared and she said they'd make it. How are you going to charge someone tell them they're wrong before even checking your mistake? I never got an apology from her nothing. As if it was my fault the order didn't show up. I work at a local brewery and Hector brought this food truck to our parking lot last night. Since I worked a 10 hr shift I had a chance to try the shrimp cocktail, the ceviche, and a lobster quesadilla. Not only was all the seafood as fresh as it gets, it was all cooked perfectly. Some may ask "where's the beef?" - El Shrimp Bucket does not disappoint! Everything I had was loaded with lobster, crab, etc. Not to mention the plethora of hot sauces he has on the ready.
