Was recommended by a friend to try this spot and I'm so glad I did!! The mango aguchile tostada was outstanding , so fresh , cold and refreshing everything was perfectly thinly sliced so flavorful and the mango was diced to perfection ! A must try when you're in San Diego ! The cashier was very nice and helpful with all my questions as a first timer, and they had lots of tables set up to eat at there fresh!

My wife and I have been eating here for years now. The first thing that brought us in are their fish taco specials on Tuesdays. We then began to explore their menu and have gotten carne asada, salmon, mojarra frita, their chicken platter, and even steak. They even have live music certain days of the week. If you want to eat outside, they have a patio with heat lamps. There is also a bar where you can order a beer or mixed drinks. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Definitely recommended!

For a Friday night - no wait on getting a table, servers were all attentive and friendly and quick with getting your order in. Food was ok, not extraordinary good, and i do have to recognize that their octopus wasn't as tender as it should be- scallops & shrimp were fresh in taste. Beer was nice and cold Tostadas are good portion Tacos were nice and crispy and taste in Marlin and Gobernador were good.

Service was great! Fast and friendly! He was only one for a lot of tables. We had a lot of great plates such as fish soup/fish tacos/tostada loca/aguachile/shrimp cocktail/shrimp taco/tacos de carne asada and a sampler. All the food was fresh and delicious! We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and they played las mañanitas and brought her a slice of delicious flan with a candle! Eddie was our fantastic waiter! The ambiance was good with Mexican music and watching the padres and Olympic Games. The padres won!

Shrimp Diablo Burrito is load with shrimp and the sauce was delicious I recommend it.

Well, I'm back home from this resraurant and I even had to go and look up my Yelp login, which I haven't used in forever, just to come here and say how much I LOVED food there! Some people mention the service, etc, these guys are real people with real nice attitude, not rude, they ARE very friendly and I have no idea why some reviews about service are so so. I don't really eat Mexican food too often, no matter how much I love it, I have to stay within certain limitations, but maaann this place IS the place to go if you want your food to be worth the calories. Every tiny delicious cute little calorie (and there are quite a few of them lol) is in the right place there. We ordered a take out just cause we happened to spend some time in Chula Vista this Sunday afternoon, so at night we were a bit tired and a little hungry. Not too hungry to jump at just anything that can't fight back, but a little. We were unfamiliar with the place and the guys at the counter helped us instantly. We were asked to sit down to wait for our order, it did NOT take long. So the CRAZY TACO is actually pretty crazy and insanely deliscious - protein overload - Meat, spicy shrimp and also mushrooms. Well, yeah, some fat but live a little. Very very very yummy. Then there is another spicy shrimp taco for me and ceviche/tostada. Everything was so good I feel sad we are done with the dinner already. It was a takeout so we had to rush home to have our dinner. Anyway, now I know what to do with my hunger, when I'm in Chula Vista next time. Too bad we didn't wait long enough for a live band! They have a live band and I feel awful that we got our takeout order so fast, but the time the band was about to start we had to go... Now I wish I knew where else they have their truck (I know they have one outside the restaurant and one in San Ysidro, at the Las Americas Outlet parking, at least the did). I live far from there so I'm kind of looking for their truck now around midtown San Dego. Not that I'm off to look for it right now, after I had my dinner there at night, in the darkness of a Sunday night, but I really do want to know where to find their truck closer to my home and I will research that next thing after posting this review.

SEAFOOD NEGRO DURAZO !Un Orgullo Sinalonese! Of the batch of food trucks, this one caught my eye because of the name. I don't speak Spanish so seeing a specific word threw me off guard. I usually pay no minds to seafood food trucks but when a crowd of people and line seem to favor this one, it was worth a shot to try. But I didn't have high expectations. FISH & CHIPS - Wasn't feeling fish tacos but was craving fish in some form. This seemed suitable. Well, it wasn't the fanciest presentation but for a food truck I appreciate their efforts of not just dumping the food in a to-go box and actually attempting to arrange my food nicely. Thank you for that, I smiled when I opened the lid. The fish were more like fish nuggets but I felt the servicing size and serving portions of the fish were perfect for my appetite. The fish tasted good, the seasoned fried batter had a nice crunch and the layer of batter that covered the fish wasn't so thick; more fish than batter. It came with lemon and tartar sauce which were both nice compliments to the fish nuggets. Surprisingly the fries were good too. They were shoe string fries, fried perfectly, and didn't find one soggy fry! If I see this truck again, I will order this again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This was a meal so it also came with a beverage and chips. Unfortunately, most drink selections were sold out along with the chips. So by default, I was given without a choice the Jumex Duranzo drink and Churrumai's con Limoncito chips. I'm Asian so I had no idea what these items were. The Jumex Duranzo was like an orange drink and the Churrumai's were rolled up fried tortilla with a very strong presents of lime. I wasn't made I didn't get my sprite and Doritos. This was fine! Until the next review...

This great seafood food truck is always in the parking lot of the Las Americas outlet. My daughter loves the fish tacos here. So naturally after shopping, she said she was gonna buy me fish tacos for dinner. The lady who takes orders is always nice. Took our order right away. Food came out in about 10 minutes. My daughter ordered 4 fish tacos and a garlic shrimp taco. All were delicious. She really liked the garlic shrimp taco. I felt like it was just little shrimp with jarred minced garlic on a flour tortilla, but she really liked it. Fish tacos are perfect and I love the chipotle sauce on the side. Fish tacos from this food truck is always a good idea.

Went their food truck that was located at the Outlets. Food was great and stained well. I had the spicy fish tacos combo. Took about 10 minutes to be ready but there was few people also waiting for their food too. Easy to order was the menu was on the side of the truck and they take cash, cards or mobile pay. Atmosphere around the truck seem to be pleasant and no shortage of people eating here. Will definitely try again if I see them around.

This place is a hidden gem. Next to Father Joe's village thrift shop you would not expect to find the best sea food in Chula Vista! Taco tuesday there are $1.65 fish tacos and sunday nights there is live music. Service is great, the menu has a huge selection, the food is delicious and all the seafood is so fresh and tasty! this is a regular spot for me and my boyfriend.

Very. Delicious agua chile. Very. Recomended!!!

Omg so good. I was around the corner at the DMV for like 3 hours (I'm never moving out of Cali…read moreagain...) and waiting in the line for vehicle inspection when I said, let me get some food and wait instead... So glad I found Mar Y Tierra!!! Everyone was sooo nice to me even though I had a hard time remembering "sesenta" briefly (when I think in Spanish now, Japanese comes out... it's funny but it's a problem lol) and even though I'm a gringa with a basic order. I just got 1 shrimp & 1 fish taco both with avocado and a jamaica. When I tell you I ate these like I had never eaten food before... Shrimp was incredibly tender and wonderful. The fish was huge, flaky and crispy and juicy. Honestly I ate them so quickly they could've been made of liquid. But they were sooo delicious!! They included extra sauce and the green salsa wasn't too spicy for me which I so appreciate! They also included 2 limes for one of the tacos which made me think someone really loves me today :') I would definitely come back here anytime and try more things on the menu! Very very delicious!! Thank you for the delicious food and taking care of me today!!!

Just a heads up before you go, there is no seating. It's a standing-room-only setup with barrel tables throughout the outdoor space. You order from one of the trucks, find a place to stand, and enjoy your food. The atmosphere felt lively and authentic, making it part of the experience. Service: Service was quick and efficient despite the crowd. There was even someone helping direct parking, which made arriving and finding a spot much easier. Food: The complimentary consommé completely stole the show for me. It was rich, flavorful, and packed with chunks of seafood. Every bite had a deep, savory flavor with just the right amount of spice. It was honestly my favorite thing we tried. We ordered the Gobernador, the Negrita, and fish tacos. The Gobernador was loaded with shrimp and melted cheese, creating the perfect combination of rich, savory seafood flavor. The shrimp tasted incredibly fresh and was cooked perfectly. The Negrita was another standout, piled high with shrimp, sliced avocado, and topped with an oyster that added even more fresh ocean flavor. It was served with tostadas on the side, and every bite was packed with bold seasoning, fresh seafood, and great texture. The fish taco was good and made with fresh ingredients. My bf and I are big foodies and have eaten a lot of fish tacos over the years, so we're probably tougher critics than most. While it wasn't our favorite item of the meal, it was still enjoyable, and the Gobernador and Negrita were the clear standouts for us. While the prices are a little higher, the quality, freshness, and portion sizes help justify it. Overall, this was a great experience from start to finish. Between the flavorful seafood, and generous portions, it's definitely worth coming back again.

El Prieto (Main St, San Diego) Rating: 2.5 / 5 Stars…read more I really wanted to enjoy my visit to El Prieto, but unfortunately, the experience was a series of "almosts" that didn't quite land. Here is the breakdown of my recent meal: The Food The kitchen missed the mark on a few basics. My bistec ranchero was underwhelming; the sauce was overly "tomatoey," lacking the deep, savory complexity or spice you expect from a solid ranchero. To make matters worse, the rice served on the side was noticeably cold, which is always a disappointment. The Drinks The beverage situation was equally frustrating. I was surprised to find that the bar offers no wine options at all. I decided to pivot to an Arnold Palmer, which ended up being the worst version of the drink I've ever had--the proportions were completely off. Service & Atmosphere The service felt lacking throughout the night, with very little attention paid to the table. Most off-putting, however, is the policy stated on the menu: a 45-minute window to eat. It's hard to relax and enjoy a meal when you feel like you're being timed by the staff. Verdict Between the cold sides, a limited bar, and the rushed atmosphere created by the time limit, I can't say I'd be in a hurry to return. There are too many great spots in San Diego to settle for a 45-minute countdown.

After enjoying a cold beer, I asked them to make me the Mushroom and Sausage pizza baked in a red and black wood fire oven. The pizza cost $12. The pizza was quite excellent at many levels. First of all, I was very pleased with the sauce made from organic San Marzano Tomatoes. It was light but provided a great natural mild tomato flavor. I had a great balance between sweet and acidity, both being very subtle. The pizza's sausage is made by the proprietor, Mario M., and let me tell you, he makes some grand sausage. The sausage was lighter than most and not overwhelmed by herbs and seasoning. It did have a small amount of fennel seeds, but no so much that it allowed the natural pork flavor to come through nicely. The mushrooms that came with this pizza were rendered down well from baking and were tender with a good earthy flavor. The Mozzarella was fresh and the pizza came with just the right amount. I was very impressed with the pizza's crust. It was of the thinner variety but held up very well to the pizza's ingredients. Even though it was thin and had a good light crunch, it also had very good texture and where there was some sort of thickness, it had a bit of a chew. You can find this pizza truck at local breweries and such, so check out their calendar, twitter, or your local breweries calendar for when they might be in your area.
