Well we tried this little place after a day at the museum of flight yesterday and i was sadly disappointed. We should have gone back to Fonda. We sat outside and the server was slow from start to finish. The waitress had 2 other tables besides us and she more interested in talking to her friend then serving anyone. The food was ok, and everything took a long time to get. Not worth the slow service for carne asado tacos. They also charge extra for everything, more salsa, extra! This was my first and last time at this place. First, let me say the atmosphere is nice & waitstaff is very attentive and efficient. However, the food is bland and tasteless (other than overpowering lime) maybe this is why they bring a slew of hot sauce bottles with your order. Seemed like we ordered half the menu and all of it was just "blah" ... there was nothing we tried that was particularly enjoyable or at all flavorful, which was disappointing based on the other positive reviews and the promising presentation that has enticed us. Our party left feeling gypped and still hungry, because we had essentially spent almost a hundred dollars on underwhelming appetizers (including $9 chips & salsa). I'm highly suspicious of some of these other raving reviews, because I would much more highly recommended going to Matador where the chips and salsa are free and amazing and the entire $5 happy hour is not only incredible value but actually delicious. read more

Came in for a quick snack on a Tuesday before our reservations at Fonda la Catrina. We ordered chips and salsa and fish tacos. The tortilla chips were homemade. The salsa tasted really fresh. It wasn't too spicy and they topped it off with some fresh cilantro as well. The fish taco was on the same homemade tortilla. The fish was fried very well. It wasn't greasy, it felt light even though it is fried. The taco might be slightly pricier but it is fish and it was done really well so it makes it hard to complain about. I'm definitely planning on coming back and trying their other foods that aren't so snack-ish. They had some other items that caught my eye. They also have a big backyard with a fire pit which will be nice for the summer time. read more

The experience was pretty solid. The food (we ordered pescadilla, chips/guacamole, asada tacos, shrimp tostada) came out fast and fresh. The tortilla/shells and chips were great, hot and crispy. But I felt there could have been something more. I would have preferred the salsa (which bordered on straight tomato sauce) and guacamole to have a little more kick (e.g. more jalopenos). There could have been another dimension to the seafood other than sour (either lime juice or vinegar), the asada could be more savory. Perhaps the simpler flavors suits seafood better. The service was excellent, the bartender attentive, the atmosphere conducive for good dinner conversation. On that I would come back, give the place another chance, and hope for flavors that pop a little more. read more

After visiting Georgetown Trailer Park Mall and a couple of art studios in the area, we wanted to get some snacks before heading back up to downtown Seattle. El Sirenito looks tiny from the outside, but don't let the humble exterior fool you, it's spacious inside with a cute, rustic ambiance. They also have a nice outdoor patio that is probably super fun in the summer. You won't find beef or chicken here, most (if not all) of the dishes are seafood inspired and are intended to be shared tapas style. I highly recommend the shrimp tacos (you'll need to get 2-3 because 1 is pretty light for an entree). We also tried the ceviche, which was light and fresh. We weren't drinking so we didn't try any of the drinks, but they have happy hour 4-6pm all week and margaritas are only $6 during happy hour. Service was fast and courteous. It looks like they get pretty busy during dinnertime, but if you come before 6pm, you'll easily find a table. read more

El Sirenito is a restaurant that is open in the evenings but it seemed like they made and exception when the Georgetown Carnival was going on out in the nearby street. They were open for lunch! When I went in I was informed that they were on a limited menu (probably because they don't do lunch and this was a special occasion). That was cool with me. I was eager to try really anything that they had to offer! I ordered two of the Rockfish Tacos. Oh my goodness! Was that delicious! The fish was battered perfectly and all of the ingredients were so fresh! Wonderful flavors! I had some pretty amazing Guacamole and Chips in addition to those tacos so it made for a very nice lunch! Their bar was open but I did not partake on any drinks since I was getting ready to go to Elysian Brewing's 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Seattle Center so I was saving up on my drinking for there! I want to come back in the evening and try out their complete menu! read more

Disclaimer: if you don't eat fish, there's very little for you here. I won't take away a lot of stars for that because it's not like they pretend otherwise, but it's good to note if you aren't a seafood fan. That said, what I *did* have here was delightful. I stopped in after work with some of my neighbors for drinks & a bite. I was adventurous and tried a new cocktail - the worker bee. Made of gin, lemon, honey syrup, mint, ginger beer, & grapefruit bitters, it was delicious and had just the right amount of flavor without being overly gin-y. For food, I decided to try the queso fundido. I'll admit, I wasn't entirely sure of the proper way to eat it, but it was tasty. I mean...can you really go wrong with tortillas and a literal pot of cheese? There was way more cheese than I could eat with the tortillas, but chips work just as well! I'm not sure how often I'll eat a meal here, due to the sad fact of not eating seafood (which is most of the menu) but I'll definitely be back for drinks and chips and cheese! read more

Came here on a wet Saturday night with a few friends and the place was PACKED. Luckily for us four seats opened up at the bar and the bartender (who may have been the owner?) greeted us with some cheeky jokes and water. We had seven people in total and a few were late. As seats around us opened up, the bartender promised us he would reserve them for our party, which I really appreciated. We started off our meal with several orders of chips, salsa, and guac, as well as an order of their grilled queso blanco. Everything was tasty, though the salsa was a bit milder than I'm used to. We had several rounds of chips throughout the night and we got varying results, the first batch were a bit cold but the re-fill came with a fresh bowl of piping hot chips. For our main course everybody in our group got the fish or shrimp tacos, which were excellent. I also had the almejas con chorizo, a rich soup with mussels and sausage. The broth was very filling and tasty, and went nicely with the Mexican lager that I was drinking. Not only was the food fantastic, but our night went along great because the bartender kept checking in and conversing with us, all while helping to seat other diners and directing the staff. I will admit the service was a bit slow, but I'm willing to give them a pass because of the great experience (my friend got a free tequila shot on the house!) and the tastiness of the food. The food is reasonably priced but because of the small tapas-like portions, you will probably end up spending more than you expect. Regardless, it's a great dining experience in a cozy restaurant with awesome food. It's probably also one of the few restaurants I would choose to sit at the bar instead of a table, because of the personable owner. read more

From appearances this spot functions as a smaller adjacent lounge to grab a drink while you wait for their popular sibling restaurant Fonda La Catrina but I'd argue you forego the wait and just post up here. Their fried shrimp tacos are fantastic and something I return for on their own. They've also got an amazing mezcal selection. Staff is on point; casual but attentive and friendly - I don't know a ton about Mezcal but they've always been helpful without making me feel dumb (and also 1/2 price mezcal on Wednesday). Great vibes and the Mexican ownership never hurts if you're craving authenticity. read more

Great surprise find after a day of furniture shopping in Georgetown. The friendly vibe can be felt from the sidewalk and who can resist the great smell of the fire pit and terrific food smells from the kitchen. I cannot stop thinking about this place. The pescadilla and ceviche were amazing. I loved the crunchy taco but the freshness of the seafood and flavors in the ceviche was hard to beat. We also got a queso dish which was good but not as amazing as the others. Same with the fish tacos - very good, would certainly return for them but not as life-changing as those pescadillas. On top of that - everything was affordable! We were able to try quite a few things off their menu and had fun exploring new dishes. Also, a beautiful place for a date night. Low lighting, an outdoor patio, intimate booths. It was never too loud but had a low hum instead. Can't wait to come back! read more

Wife and I drove to Georgetown for this place after reading the reviews. Arrived around 5 for HH, which is essentially non-existent. House margarita was ok, Old Fashioned was superb. The food was very disappointing. Being a Marisqueria, we struggled to find items that weren't fried - pescadilla and oysters deep fried and lacked any flavor. The ceviche and butter garlic prawns were ok; we requested a grilled fish taco and they obliged. Many more places with way better food and similar ambience for the same or slightly cheaper price. Great service and cocktails deserving of 3 stars overall. Unlikely to come back for food. read more

We have raved about El Sirenito and brought friends last Friday night, whoa what a disappointment, there were 4 of us and the server brought 3 plates, 3 sets of flatware, 3 waters and we kept asking the waiter for 1 more but he just couldn't grasp there were 4 of us. Usually Mexican restaurants are very vegan friendly, but their only option is cactus tacos. They were good, but quite plain. They don't serve rice or beans which is also disappointing. Their sister restaurant Fonda La Catrina, has a similar issue....their only vegan option is poblano tacos. I will go to Barrio (capital hill) or Pablo y Pablo (Fremont) for better vegan options. read more

This was my second visit to El Sirenito and this experience was as good as the first one. The atmosphere is very nice (although a bit noisy, as is the case with many Seattle restaurants now). The service was friendly, professional, and fast. And the food is outstanding - - true Mexican food, not the TexMex variety. We had the ensalada nopal (cactus salad), which was very fresh and tasty. The ostiones fritas (fried oysters) were tender and flavorful. The tostada con pulpo was delicious. Prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. I will definitely return! read more

Mezcal is an experience. It is a spirit in every sense of the word. It is to be savored, explored, discussed, enjoyed and my favorite place to have my mezcal is Sirenito. All of the bartenders are well versed, knowledgeable and excited about their many mezcal offerings. They'll guide you toward a good fit for each unique palate with a respectful welcoming rather than pretention. A guest can walk in knowing nothing about mezcal and leave with a few facts about the elixir not to mention an elevated mood and sense of well being... mezcal is magical. The food is also wonderful and I usually tend toward smaller portions while I sample mezcals, so the menu is perfect for me and my husband. We order a few things to share and always feel satisfied. When we're really cutting loose we'll order the fundito which we fondly refer to as BOWL OF CHEEEEEESE. It's just too good. The cactus tacos are perfect for our vegetarian ways and the chips are the best. The tab can run high due to the ever fluctuating costs of mezcal, but we're usually so high and happy it's not an issue. I always leave feeling like I am living my best life. read more

$12 for 3 street tacos in tiny tortillas (Carne Asada) with meat and onions only. They waited for me to ask for more salsa, charged $2 extra for a tiny dish of salsa. After getting the extra salsa they charged for, they then brought a rack of condiments, including extra salsa. We asked if the Carne Asada included cheese (tacos nearly always do). Instead of clarifying that they don't include cheese, they just asked if we wanted cheese. We said yes, and were charge $4 extra for the cheese. We asked for a 2nd round of chips and salsa. Found out later that they charged $2 for each round of chips and each round of salsa. This is even worse than those chinese restaurants that don't give you enough white rice, and then charge you for extra bowls of rice. Shrimp cocktail had issues as well. Small portions, and misleading as listed in the menu. Prices were high to begin with, for relatively small portions; and we were nickled and dimed on top of it. We are never going back there again. read more

This place is a seafood lover's dream! El Sirenito is the sibling restaurant to Fonda La Catrina and dare I say, it's even better! My mom read an article about this place and wanted to go. I was shocked since she normally doesn't like Mexican food. She doesn't like cheesy but this place is all about small plates and fresh seafood! There's very little land meat here. If you don't like seafood, there's almost nothing here to eat for you. Food: The 4 of us had: -Chips, salsa and guac -Fish tacos (I didn't try): my dad and brother loved these -Shrimp tacos: nicely done. Fried but not too fatty or breaded. -Napoles salad: This dish was very fresh and the flavors of the cactus, onion and cheese were great. However, there was way too much olive oil. It was basically swimming in oil so we had to drain it a bit. -Rockfish cervice: Fresh and enjoyable but if you don't order the tostada they bring it with the pre-wrapped crackers you get for clam chowder. It kind of cheapened the dish. -Pescadillas (rockfish stuffed fried quesidillas): delicious! -Montaditos (potato toast with sardines, avocado): These are fishy done right. The bread is perfectly toasted and the one bite on top is perfectly flavored. -Pulpo a la Parilla (octopus, potatoes with tortillas): this was probably the weakest dish. The octopus was a little chewy but overall, not a bad dish! There are no burritos or the "stereotypical Chipotle-like Mexican dishes" here. It's very light and not much in the way of beans or cheese. Service: When we got here on a Saturday night, we were told the wait would be 25 minutes. The restaurant layout is weird and the waiting area is in the back. We waited about 35 minutes. As soon as we sat down, the staff apologized and brought us free chips, salsa and guacamole (normally $7). They said immedietely, "it's not much but please accept this as an apology." Our instant reaction was "good service!" The place seems overstaffed with waiters. There's maybe one to every 3 tables. I think it's because the food comes out a little bit slow but they DO offer very good service. They were constantly checking on us, bringing napkins and are pretty fast. Overall, we felt they went above and beyond. Price: The dishes here are $3-10, the way small plates SHOULD be. Before tip, the price of our meal was $60 for 4 people, which we felt was quite reasonable! El Sirenito has easily become my favorite Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, we start there with fish tacos, but wind up next door for another drink and the chips, salsa and guacamole. Easy "small plate" option on the menu in my opinion. Great forum to be able to vent! Restaurant may truly be 4* but my experience there for the 1st time was a 1*. Went there for HH and the person that seated us I think was maybe the Manager or someone that roams and checks on every table. Ask about HH menu and dummy didn't even know there was HH still going on in Restaurant. Strike 1! Ordered the special on the Chalkboard and the food came ... everything all good so far. Start eating it and the meat in the middle was cold. Told the waitress of this and she said she will get new order for us. Waited for 20 minutes and waitress never came back with our food nor did we see her. Strike 2! By this time I was getting frustrated. Asked the wanna be Manager what happened to our waitress and our food. He said she had an emergency and had to leave. I heard this and was about to explode. Strike 3! This lacky Manager had no customer service skill or was even sympathetic. I said we just want our bill. Paid bill and of course NO tip. As we're walking out I see our food sitting on counter under the warmer. Does the clueless Manager had no idea why the food was sitting there and haven't moved for 20 minutes. Done venting! Like I said I'm sure Restaurant is 4* and other wait staff is great but bad experience. read more

I have been here a few time and I have always had the same problem, where the service Is terrible. I don't know if they are always short handed but being in the retail business I know how important it is to get to customer in a timely manner. The food is great which is why I have come back but they need to either hire more staff or get better at scanning the room and making sure they are assisting all customers in a timely manner.
