Over the years I've been to El Super many times as it is close to my work. I usually come here when I need produce like avocados, cilantro, limes, and other staples for cooking. This is one of the best places to find inexpensive produce, and it's hard to beat the prices compared to other grocery stores. I've also taken advantage of their prepared food section a few times. If you plan to order there, make sure you grab a number -- otherwise you might end up standing there waiting for a while. I love to get the tuna salad and pico de gallo. Most recently I decided to check out Taco Tuesday in their food court area. I was happy with the tacos, and at only $0.99 each it doesn't get much better than that. The only downside was that when I went there was a bit of a wait, but considering the deal it made sense. Overall, El Super is a great spot if you're looking for affordable produce and quick, tasty prepared food. read more

The racism at this place is sad. Today they completely ignored me and served people that was sitting down at a table before me.i was the only person in line. The had no shame either.looked me in my face.completely ignored me. Terrible. My wife applied for a job opening and followed the entire process correctly. They told her she'd get back to them in two weeks. After a month, they called, and the person in charge of interviews said, "I don't remember anything." It's like whoever's conducting the interviews forgets who they interviewed. It's clear they conveniently offered the position to one of their "close associates." Big corporations don't discriminate against their applicants. read more

Just writing this to inform you since your phone number is not working also. Today I witnessed a security guard freak out on a customer for no reason. This woman very nicely walked up to the only employee not actively working, the security guard, to politely just inform them all of the shopping carts are gone from both entrances. Stressed out he yelled "if you want to make a complaint then you need to talk to the manager!" Then pointed her out as she was checking out groceries. She tried to explain she wasn't complaining just letting him know so he could help and get more or get someone but he fully freaked out on her to the point she just ended up leaving. He was complaining about the interaction loudly saying that wasn't his job as she walked away for several minutes. This man should be put in another position or let go. Went to grab a burrito but the restaurant did not look like the food was that fresh. The deli was understaffed and the "fresh fish" was mostly frozen and the eyes on the fish were not clear.... And the shrimp area kind of smelled..... now the produce area was nice and they had plenty to choose from but they have 14 aisles I believe for check out and they only had 5 open and every line had 5-8 people waiting. And they are slow as Christmas. I gave up! Don't think I will be back either. read more

Today I popped into El Super to grab some avocados, but while I was there I noticed the rotisserie chickens. I thought for 8.99 this is a plump, juicy-looking bird. Meat and produce selection was very good with good prices. Nice bakery. All the good prices are on the outside areas, the aisles are where they hit you hard. Long slow lines. Only three open registers during peak shopping hours. I didn't get any of the sale prices I saw in the store. I suppose I had to sign up to their happy family club (or whatever they call it), but this was my first visit. Might be my last. read more

I had noticed this store a couple times driving by and it looked like somewhere I would be interested in exploring. Sometimes I go to La Bonita and Marianas for a few things so i knew this would be a close competitor. I must be honest when I say I really really liked this store. It was much larger, well organized and much cleaner than I found La Bonita or Mariana's to be. I was pleased with their selection of meats, produce and grocery items. The prices here are comparable to the other two. There's another similar store called Cardenas in town and that's a more expensive. I bought a lot of meat from this location as they had a lot of great deals and a lot of meats that look fresh and packaged very neatly. The meat counter wasn't nearly as packed and cramped as some other stores so I was able to quickly get what I needed. I like the fact that they're one of the few places that cut the enormous chicken leg quarters in half so they are easier to cook! I'll definitely be coming back to this location for some shopping needs. read more

Post quarantine review: last visit June 2020 Shoutout to my go-to supermarket where I get all my produce. The quality of the produce here is great and they have specials on Wed-Thur for even bigger discounts. Though at times, some of the kiwis can be a hit or miss. I come early in the day so there's rarely a lot of people. For a while there they required everyone to wear masks inside, including customers. I'm not sure if that is still enforced. Located in the Sahara Pavilion, between Decatur and Arville, this branch of El Super opened in April of 2015, and although Produce is somewhat lacking in comparison to La Bonita as well as Cardenas the Panaderia adheres to on-site production of several Pan Dulce as well as a number of Cakes, Puddings and Breads. Visited once prior, and again amidst COVID-19 precautions that see El Super limiting access while an employee at the door thoroughly disinfects shopping carts and offers sanitizer to guests, it is after gathering essentials that one will locate the rear-right Bakery where three women in N95 masks and gloves work diligently. Still selling a la carte as of March 21st, just 50-cents per Pastry and $3 per slice of Cake comparable to other markets and independent shops across the valley, it was with everything carefully self-packed that ten items were tasted, a Salvadoran Quesadilla starting things off with minimal sweetness beneath toasted Sesame Seeds. Moving next to a Vanilla-scented Loaf, heftier than Angel Food but not quite Coffee Cake in consistency, it seems impossible to judge a Mexican Bakery without at least one Concha, and so far as density is concerned El Super's is reference standard beneath an adherent Sugar Crust while the tri-color Cookie was sweet but less Teething Biscuit-like than most. Impressed by both a Cream-filled Empanada and the Panaderia's Pig-shaped Gingerbread, the latter pliable and rife with spices, Bread Pudding is fairy basic and easily omitted in favor of sprinkled Cake with Frosting while Corn Pudding falls short of La Bonita's reference-standard wedge despite El Super's nearly-double price. Not offering Arroz con Leche, but instead odd-looking Parfait with Fruit, the decision between Flan and Tres Leches came easily as the Cake had just been packaged, its texture predictably soaked but both sponge and light topping standing up admirably with sliced Almonds to plenty of Condensed Milk. read more

Please check very well when they are checking out your products!! The products are tag for a price, and they change at the register. Just happen to me. Grab a turkey was tag by $ 25. XX for 17.XX pounds, and the cashier just ring for $30.XX . I ask why, and she just said " I put on the scale and that's the price" . That's really disrespectful. The tag had a amount of pounds and the value in $. And when go to the front they want to charge me more. The lady at taco y carnitas was late for one. I asked for a water cup for my medicine. I got here early for my food and still waited 10 minutes to get to order. She wouldn't give me a small water cup to drink with my meal! I came here yesterday and my meal was good but today the service made it pretty bad. For what it is (a Mexican-centric market) , it's great. The produce is always clean and organized. Regularly has great sales on the meats (my favorite part about this grocery store). Try the marinated boneless chicken thigh to take home and grill up. Also the pastor meat is really good. Can you tell I regularly have taco nights at my house? Go to the cheese/deli section and get a couple scoops of Mexican (less salty) and Central American (saltier) cream for your American style tacos or nachos, way more flavor than American sour cream. Fresh, well priced produce. Sometimes has long checkout lines :/ Good hot food/restaurant section too. I often grab an agua fresca to drink while I shop. El Super is gigantic and puts many other ethnic markets in the city to shame in terms of pure size and variety. There's an adequate produce section, large butcher and seafood counter, cheese and ready-made-foods section, bakery (with plenty of pan dulce) and a small dine-in restaurant with ceviches, tacos, burritos, and tortas. There isn't really any one area here that is done very well, kind of a "jack of all trades, master of none" situation- but the pricing is typically very good for most items, particularly meats and seafood. They have weekly sales but I'm not sure where their circular is sent out- I live nearby but do not receive one. They are available at the door and prices appear in yellow to indicate they are temporary. Store is still new, but is very clean and organized. Some basic knowledge of Spanish is helpful, as not all items have an English translation next to them which can be a little confusing in the deli and produce areas. read more

This supermarket is such a great mix of all kinds of culture and it is nice to see and be able to purchase some of those hard to find foods. The veggies and fruit area is so large and fresh, but really busy. The prices for the produce here is unbelievable too. It is almost like they are giving the veggies away. We came here wanting to explore for a field trip for the twins and their many adventures in learning since they are homeschool. On this trip we found cucumbers 4 for $1.00, and bananas 29 cents. The customer service here even hires staff that mostly speak there language where they were born, which is predominantly Spanish. My Spanish is rusty so I go to use it here with the staff in the bakery and when I checked out at the front register. The upper Mangement even walks around and greets customers so worth a look for a unique and different atmosphere in the grocery store. read more

I liked coming here, it is actually one of the closest Mexican market by me. I like that El Super is in a shopping center where you can get a few things done due to type of stores they have around. Now the market was very clean and organized, I didn't notice any food with expired dates on them so thats a plus. Everything looked fresh. I ended up stocking up on some meats since I don't live near any markets like these . I got some carne asada, marinaded chicken,ground beef and chorizo. The prizes where excellent I must add. I also stocked up on some dried chilies so I can make salsas. I also noticed they have pan Mexicano which I really wanted but I had already had plenty of carbs and sweets I opted not to get any although it did look and smell amazing. They have a bakery which is always nice and convenient. I think my favorite section was the cheese and cream section, it felt like I was in Mexico picking up those items so it was a nice little feeling. My second favorite section was there food court area. I treated myself to a torta, it was pretty good. It definitely hit the spot and better than any of the tortas they make in the "Mexican" joints they have by my house. Overall everything was great here, some of the items they try to rob you on but at the end of the day you probably wont be able to find it anywhere else which explains the price.
