Today, I had take out from El Charros in Carson. The meal was very good as well as a great portion size. The customer service is great. The restaurant is clean. They have a great menu offering a variety of foods. The prices are great for the amount of foods provided. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is across the street from IKEA and the Southbay Pavilion which is great for walking off some calories or relaxing at the Cinemark Movie Theater. I recommend this restaurant

I found another gem literally hidden in the corner of the strip mall. We came here for their taco Tuesday ($1.89). We both ordered 5 each with a mixture of different meats. It was all really good. You order on the counter as you enter like a fast food place and they call your number. If you're eating at the place, they actually give you real plates so that was pretty good. The place is really bright and very clean. We will certainly return.

Another random yelp find that we had to try out ... I'm always in search of crispy hard shell tacos or crispy taquitos or rolled tacos as we know them from growing up in Az. At first glance this spot is cute, very clean, well organized, plenty of parking, it had a small self serve salsa bar (which I'm a huge fan of) and it was pretty busy at lunchtime! All good signs. You order and pay at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready. Now would I say this is the best most authentic Mexican food I've ever had? NO. However was it good, yes. Would we return? Also yes. We tried the taquitos, hard shell tacos, enchilada and carne asada taco .... For the ground beef crispy hard shell taco alone, I would return! Crazy how hard that is to find in this area!!! If you haven't tried this spot give it a try ... we will be back at another time.

With a plethora of Mexican restaurants in the area, I was craving some nachos or hard-shell tacos and this place was a couple of miles away from work, so I decided to place a phone order for their super nachos with chicken. The employee took my order promptly and was super friendly and said they would be ready in 10 min. Located in an older strip mall, there was plenty of parking at the time I went. Upon walking in, the restaurant is very clean and inviting. My order was ready to go. Since they were "loaded nachos" I assumed they came with jalapenos, salsa, sour cream, guac, and lettuce, but I decided to ask the employee if they came with jalapenos and she said yes and asked if I wanted more and I said sure (I didn't take a peek at this point). I ate them when I got back to work and it was a decent size for 13.25 incl tax, but I was disappointed that the chicken was not all white meat and there was no salsa in the bag. I could barely see any sour cream nor guacamole. Also, the chips were soggy although I know they made them fresh to order. Overall, they were ok, but not what I was expecting them to be.

I drove all the way from Louisiana to get some real Mexican food. Well partially, we're here on vacation and I wanted a non-chain local shop. It's really good. I am glad we came here.

I've been coming to Taco Charro for years, and it consistently is a great spot with tons of authentic options. On my most recent visit, I had the gobernador and barbacoa Tacos. It was slightly different than usual, maybe a new cook? But still really tasty. The tacos are fried, flavorful, and although on the smaller side very filling. Make sure to ask for the special hot sauce when you order these tacos, it's not available with their regular salsa bar. It really makes a difference! I also appreciate the clean and comfortable dining areas, both indoors and out. The staff is always friendly! Don't leave without trying their flan, I believe it's outsourced, but it's still highly recommended and they have unique flavors like coconut and coffee.

My wife found a review for this establishment on Instagram, do we had to take the 15 min or do drive. It's kind hidden in the corner in a little strip mall, but once inside it's pretty big with plenty of seating, They have a pretty extensive menu with lots of delicious food to choose from. My wife ordered crunchy tacos with ground beef, and the were stuffed with all kinds of goodness. She loved the fact that you can get ground beef because not many places offer it. I ordered nacho's with Al Pastor, and let me tell you, this is by far the best Marinated Al Pastor I've eaten. It was well seasoned and delicious, there was cheese and sour cream along with jalapeño peppers. There's also a condiment bar with marinated carrots, radish slices and various salsa's to choose from. To drink we got our favorite, orange whip/bang because there's not many places that carry it. Over all the staff was friendly and food is great. Definitely recommend This place.

Came here as my meeting was in the area. This spot had high reviews. It's in a huge shopping plaza so ample amount of parking. It's at the corner so you can't miss it. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of tables. A bit basic but no complaints. The place was relatively empty when we got here on a Saturday early evening. We ordered chile relleno plate which was ok but not that good (the lady hyped it up too much hence the disappointment) and chicken quesadilla which was really good. Overall: service was friendly and food together we give it 3.5. May come again if we're in the area to give it another go.

"This restaurant might not be the most well-known spot, but it's definitely worth checking out. I visited at 9am and was impressed by how clean and organized everything looked. The cashier could've used a pick-me-up, though - she didn't greet me and jumped straight to taking my order. My tacos de lengua, carnitas, cabeza, and asada were tasty, but a bit greasier than I'd like. I'll probably swing by again to try other items on the menu. For now, I'd give it 7/10.

Wish I liked this place and give it 5 stars. Unfortunately it was disappointing from the pickled carrots, radishes, tacos and soup of the day. The pickled carrots and radishes looked so old, yuck. The salsa and lemons were okay. Let's get to the tacos. Before I got to the table we were sitting at, the tortilla was falling apart. The buche meat was good, but the lengua had no flavor. The soup of the day was horrible. The meat tasted weird like they used the meat from another type of dish cleaned it out and put it in the soup. I tried to eat the veggies but couldn't even eat that. It all went to the trash (soup). My friend ate the falling apart tacos. It's obvious that I won't return back to this place. The place looked so nice and clean. It had a nice vibe. But I literally threw away my food.

I've been eating their food since they were located across from City Hall. I can recall that everything was always yummy. The food was even consistently tasty even when they moved to this location. I now normally only get the al pastor tacos and recently ventured to retry the carne asada, barbacoa, and the gobernador tacos. Now I must say that I saved the al pastor taco for last since I knew it was a sure thing as far as the delicious consistent flavor. The carne asada and barbacoa were just ok, nothing I will order again going forward. The gobernador taco was a most definite NEVER AGAIN as it was so disappointing in the mushiness of the shrimp and lack of flavor that even the sauce on it couldn't redeem it. Their beans and rice are just ok but nothing crave worthy more of just filler. I wish there was more flavor even in the carne asada because that's something that when it's done right it could really give your tastebuds that wonderful flavor of all will be right with the world. I even shared my order with my husband to see if it was just me and he said the same thing. On another note , their salsas arequite delicious especially the verde. Nothing super spicy but just enough to make the other items that are lacking flavor more palatable for your expectations. As for the ambiance, it's a really nice clean and spacious place. You can feel comfortable dining in solo as well as with friends and family. I see the other reviews giving praise for some of the same items that I've tried and I just did not have that experience. For the records I tried the tacos on multiple occasions except for that shrimp one. I'd recommend this spot most definetly for their al pastor or if you just need to put some food in your tummy but really are not looking for that flavor packed experience. They have an overwhelming extensive menu so maybe that's why some of the items are just ok. Either way, give this place a try for yourself, maybe my expectations for basic tacos that you can get at a taco truck are just higher. Long story short, stick to the al pastor and the green salsa and you will be solid! read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. I have lived in Carson for over 62 years and watched the RESTAURANT. be built and thrive. I went last Saturday I love the food but everytime I go I always see a tall girl with long black hair always having her hair down . I find it unsanitary. Hair could probably fall onto food. Rest of the cashiers always there hair in a bun or a ponytail or also have a hat on . She ALWAYS with 2 pigtail and having her hair down and I don't want no hair on my food . This place use to be so good . Customer service was top tier . Now they have all these new cashiers with no customer service skills . I orders through the phone and they said 30 mins got there and food wasn't ready . I said no tomato on the torta and there was tomato on it . The asada meat has no flavor and a lot of fat. My co worker ordered the carnitas plate and it was oily and rayed rancid . The salsa verde at the salsa bar tasted sour . The owner lady is not welcoming at all .My other co worker orders the enchilada and they're wet with tomato sauce . There's nothing authentic about this place. It's just a big NO . Also they charge for chips never been to a Mexican place that charges for chips . I wouldn't go back here even if the food was free . read more

It's tucked in the corner of a strip mall of random businesses right behind a nice fountain. It doesn't look like it would be spacious on the inside, but it's a medium size dining area with several tables. It's counter service. It's quaint and nice, albeit a bit outdated--but I get it--remodeling is expensive and most people are here for the food. They offer quite an array of menu items and offer a good amount of meat choices for their tacos. Standard comes with onions, cilantro & salsa. We added cheese to our chicken and al pastor tacos and made our order into combos which includes rice and beans. Everything tasted good. The only thing is that we're volume eaters and the portions didn't seem enough. The tacos are small which is what one would expect for street tacos. If you're super hungry, definitely order more tacos. They are inexpensive which is major plus. Also, try some of their self-serve whip drinks--specifically the Horchata and the Pina Colada. It's nice and refreshing & does a great job washing down the tacos. read more

I was in the area and I saw this place. I was hungry and I was more than A-OK with tacos for dinner. Lol. So, I figured I would try this place. You order first and then you can either eat it there or take it to go. When it comes to Mexican food, I'm all about the rice and beans. Unfortunately, I thought both sucked. Always down for some tacos when on the road. And this is closest taco spot to IKEA. The food was old school Mexican comfort food. I got 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans for $10. Best taco deal I seen in a while. Do yourself a favor and skip the IKEA cafeteria food and head down the street. read more

The carnitas taco was delicious. The hard shell definitely yummy. Let me get in to the barbacoa burrito. Omg. Definitely spicy delicious and super mouth watering w a full taste of goodness. Definitely didn't expect to pay $15 for 2 tacos a soda and a burrito. I forgot wat good food for a good price was. The service was good. The ambiance was super chill sit outside or inside. Definitely one of the hidden pleasures in a corner of a shopping mall. read more

I got the carne asada fries, they were good but stuck to the paper they put in the container and with the oil and cheese it would stick to it and I would catch myself eating the paper so I just flipped the whole thing and had to peel paper off. The horchata was okay, it seemed more bitter than sweet. read more

Great tacos and burritos for the price. I ordered six tacos for my kids, 2 carnitas, 2 pollo, and 2 pescado, and a wet burrito with carnitas for my self. We also got a cup of guacamole, and chips to round it out. The total came out to less than $35 including tax. Not bad for a dinner for three! My kids liked the tacos, and the burrito was good. The interior is nice and clean. You can dine in, but you have to pick up the food when called at the counter. There's a self-serve bar with salsas, lime slices, and sliced radishes. read more

You can load up your tacos with as much onion and cilantro as you want, plus they have radishes and lime wedges available. They also offer two salsas, a red and a green. Good variety of meats, reasonable prices, and plenty of toppings to customize your tacos. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area and craving some tacos.

Parking was easy, and when we walked in, there was only one occupied table. Three employees were chatting in the back. We were greeted, but it felt more like, "What would you like?" than "Welcome in." No smile, no conversation, no thank you--just a transaction. After taking our order, the employee returned to chatting with coworkers. When our order was ready, our name was called, the halo-halo was placed on the counter, and that was the end of the interaction. As for the halo-halo itself, my partner rated it a 2/10. It was overwhelmingly sweet and overpriced for what we received. We were hoping for layers of flavor and nostalgia but got a sugar rush that could probably power a small city. As a business owner myself, I understand that customer service is one of the biggest drivers of customer retention. Great products can bring people in once, but great service brings them back. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both. The good news? These issues are fixable. A little more warmth, engagement, and hospitality would go a long way. Until then, we'll continue our search for our next favorite halo-halo spot.

Andrea was super sweet, and the girl bringing our food out was really attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. They even packed our food for us! Overall, amazing experience. I was really disappointed with my recent visit. I noticed multiple employees doing their hair in the kitchen area, which is extremely concerning from a hygiene standpoint. On top of that, staff were refilling personal drinks directly from the fountain using their personal cups, which is against basic food safety practices. These are serious health code violations and made me lose trust in the cleanliness and standards of this establishment. I hope management addresses these issues promptly. Lastly, the food may have been delicious, but the experience was ruined by the unprofessional behavior of the staff. While I was dining, several employees were loudly having a very negative and inappropriate conversation about upper management. It was uncomfortable and made the whole atmosphere feel unprofessional. As a customer, I shouldn't be caught in the middle of workplace drama. Definitely not the kind of environment I'd would want to return to. read more

Mexican food at a good price. That is what this restaurant gives you. I've been here many times and today I ordered the #15 Mexican style roasted chicken. It's a half chicken with rice, beans and a side of corn or flour tortillas. This plate of food is more than enough to fill you up. The chicken is well seasoned and roasted just enough to make the skin nice and crispy. The rice is flavorful and the beans are made "refried" style. And you can get red or green chili salsa along with pickled jalapeños. The cost was $7.69. The service is fast and the dining area is clean. My to go order was made close to the stated pick up time which I can understand since the roasted chicken takes longer to prepare. read more

I go to El Taco Charro once a week. Today I ordered the Taco Salad with shredded chicken. My salad has all my favorites with lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, refried beans, purple cabbage and of course the shredded chicken, it was so good and the Taco shell was crisp. The prices at this restaurant are very reasonable and the condiments offers variety of choices for your pallet. The service is also quick. I love going to this restaurant. read more
