There is a major difference between fast food which comes from a box and one that is made fresh daily. This is a small restaurant that I found while driving in Carson. As you can see by the pictures this place has a variety of food choices. Today I decided to try the chorizo con huevo breakfast it so big you don't need to eat for the rest of the day, all breakfast comes with fresh made tortillas . waited about five minutes to get served. The three ladies were very friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable and above all the food is so good . The restaurant is very clean and the restrooms are also very clean. So please remember rather than giving your hard earned money to a major food chain, come and visit El Dorado restaurant. You will be supporting the local community and your tummy will love you. Food tastes authentic! It is delicious. Service was great they take your order at the counter, you choose where you seat. Place is small and taste like home cooked food. I'm not gonna lie food is pretty good but customer service is terrible I told them they messed up my order and they started giving me attitude saying that I was lying and when I told them why I didn't like the item which was because there was a whole bone in my birria and I almost broke my tooth the girls in the back started laughing very disrespectful . read more

This place doesn't look like much when you drive past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. This is the definition of a Mom's and Pop's place ( your neighborhood hole in the wall). I got the milanesa torta and... there are no words other than perfection. There's dozens of options available on their wall full of pictures, so with so ma y options it can get overwhelming. But you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. Let me know what your favorite is. read more

Was in the area for work and luckily stumbled upon this place. Tried the pambazo which was so good. Their other food looks good too. I live far away from this place but if I lived closed by I would be a regular. They have so many different foods to choose from. They have Bionicos as well and healthy juices. All their food is good you can tell. This is a whole in the wall spot that you won't see it if you are driving by because the parking is so small but they have so much to offer. How do you squeeze canned goods, produce, meat counter and a restaurant in a store the size of a large living room? Ask La Altena, that's exactly what they did. La Altena, was recommended to me for their tamales. When we got there and saw Birria and Barbacoa on their extensive menu, Ellen C. and I knew we just had to try. We ordered: 2 Lengua tacos (made with handmade tortillas) 1 Birria 1 Barbacoa 18 Tamales ( to go) All for 40 something dollars (they take credit cards) The lengua tacos were made, well ... just the way I like them. First, there just isn't anything like a good handmade tortilla - these were fresh off the grill. Handmade & homemade thick flour tortillas filled with juicy tender lengua and all the toppings. By the time we finished the tacos we couldn't wait for the Birria and Barbacoa. Both came a large bowl filled with dark red soup just brimming with flavor. While both bowls looked almost exactly the same, they were not. Not just because of the different meats but the flavors of the soup were distinctly different. There were plenty of good size chunks of meat and plenty of soup but that was all. There wasn't much of anything else in the bowl. Don't get me wrong it was filling and along with the tacos, we were stuff. However, I thought it would have been good to at least have a bit of vegies, maybe onions or hominy or something. That evening we had pork, cheese and corn tamales for dinner. The cheese tamale was my favorite, lots of cheese and chilies smothered with soft but not overcooked masa. Service at La Altena was a blast. The same lady worked the food counter, the meat counter and the cash register. She was friendly and funny. She made sure a couple of Asians were well taken care of, explained things to us and made sure we had everything we needed. Next time? YES!!! but I gotta take another look at the menu again, by the time I was finished eating I was in a food coma and was in no shape the remember what was on the menu. read more

Came here for the fresa con crema with all the fruits and granola etc.. Giving this place one star because this place is unsanitary. I saw the lady employee cutting my fruits with her bare hands. She didn't wash her hands and she did not wash the fruits.. had the fruits been in a container already prepped and cut.. i would assume it's already washed.. BUT, she got the strawberries from a container you get when buying them from the grocery store.. i know they weren't washed.. she took it straight out of the container, cut them and threw them in my bowl/tray.. when i got to my car, i opened it up and the strawberries were rotten, dirty, with bruises (disgusting). Of course I didn't eat it. I threw it away. The fact that she didn't wear gloves OR wash her hands before handling my food was disgusting and inconsiderate ESPECIALLY during this coronavirus pandemic read more

Call in advance or the wait is a bit long (speaking Spanish is helpful but not necessary) and you have to wait outside due to Covid restrictions, especially if there's a line. I believe there's a limit on number of people who can be inside at a time. Look for the sign. Love their quesadillas, fried and a la plancha. Tacos are also very good and so are their agua frescas. Prices are reasonable and the food is closest to homemade Mexican food in the area. Tortillas are SO good. You can order extra tortillas on the side since the tacos are packed with meat ... 1 taco can become 2. I've only tried the chicken and asada. Both excellent. It is a very small place in a small shopping center. Used to be a carnicería, I believe. Limited parking but the little shopping center is not busy at all so parking has never been a problem. read more

I ordered a carne asada burrito wet with no sour cream and one taco. I got a burrito with sour cream and, the carne asada tasted like old oil. They barely added green sauce to it. I Paid almost $19. Definitely, too pricey for the food quality. read more

I've been twice and I really loved the first trip, the second trip was a bit of a miss. However, overall, I'd come back. I ordered the pambazo and taco de al pastor. The pambazo is very filling and super hot, very delicious. It has great flavor. The taco de al pastor was also good and I appreciate the hand-made tortillas. The one comment I'd make about the al pastor is that it's a bit chewy/nerve-y/tendon-y and I'm not a fan of that. I also loved the horchata! read more

So it's 4th of July & my bf & I had a sudden craving for guacamole, I mean the legit kind not the Albertson's type. We went to the usual La Venaditas but dios mio the line was crazy at 9 in the morning! We then headed out to search for authentic guacamole & stumbled upon this place & lucky we did because this place is amazing! It's a little market with a restaurant in it & their guacamole is SO much better than La Venaditas, truust! The girl also suggested to try their quesadilla & I'm so glad we listened because with their homemade tortilla, generous amount of cheese & tender carne asada was ON POINT! My husband and I went here for dinner since it was last minute and fairly close to where we live. This little plaza has been here for decades, the donut shop is the only original establishment thats still standing!!! This place used to be a small Mexican market before, but back to the food! The inside is your usual run of the mill setup, a few tables and chairs, spanish tv, and a fan by the door. Wide selection of spanish cola/jarritos. The women that work here are all very nice and welcoming, they also do all the cooking as you order. All tortillas are hand made in house. We ordered the chicken, asada, and birria tacos...all very delicious amd flavorful. Carne asada burritos were also well seasoned, not too big either. The star of the show, however, were the agua frescas!!! We got mango and pineapple...soooo worth it. We will definitely be coming back to support this local business! read more

Some guy on the heavy side with glasses gave the WORST service! I tried reasoning with this guy about how my burrito wasn't correct. His response? "Ni Modo" and aggressively demanding me to pass the phone to my husband to talk to him instead of me. Sexist much? When I went in to get my refund, he kept berating me and still demanding to speak to my husband. Why though? I don't get it. I know that they started a burger food truck that they have parked outside and maybe they are focusing their efforts on that but the change is definitely noticeable in a negative way. I was so excited to come back, but was pretty disappointed with my meal. I will say that the one good thing that they still have going for them is their amazing staff. All of the workers are extremely kind and helpful and they work very hard to keep a clean and aesthetic area. If you heard the hype of fresh handmade tortillas and wanted to try top shelf tacos, save yourself the trip. They don't do it anymore and It's just like any other taco place.

I normally am not a huge fan of beans but his beans are the best. My husband got the nacho supreme and two chicken tacos. Nacho supreme was great, lots of toppings and beans and cheese. Tacos were good, but he wishes the tomatoes in the tacos were diced. They gave us two salsas, both were not spicy! Great spot for a quick meal with a nice owner.

Definitely an old school mom and pop shop.

I'm short, so my feet don't reach the ground and the edge of the seat that curves upward was uncomfortable for my legs as they were dangling. Short person problem. First time going to this place and the girl working there just ignored me trying to place an order at the counter. Second time another worker ignored me for pickup order. I stood there after she helped another customer with her pickup order and she just walked away. The bleached hair lady kept waving her hand at me to wait while she was boxing up orders coming out of the kitchen. My order was already at the pickup station but she chose to ignore me 10min. All she had to do was give me my order that was already done and go back to boxing up orders coming out. Food is good but don't expect any type of customer service at this location. Worst customer service with two different girls working here. Time to find another place

I was immediately greeted by a server whom quickly took my order and brought chips and salsa to my table. I ended up ordering the two hard shell taco combo with rice and beans and a fountain soda. The food was ok (not the worst); however, very pricey: 16.99 for the taco plate and 4.99 for my fountain drink! With tax and before tip it came to 24 bucks! I definitely won't be eating here again. Service was great and the servers were friendly enough and very efficient but overall not worth the price. Side note: this is a great place for large parties. Parking is tight except around the side of the bldg. Decor is dark inside almost like Dia de Los Muertos type!
