My grandkids absolutely love this place. We come here once a week, and it's one of the highlights of our week when we pull up to El Taco Charro. My grandson usually gets the chicken enchiladas or the carne asada tacos, and my granddaughter isn't big on meat, so she sticks with the rice--which she absolutely loves. I love their chicken tacos. Soft shell, full of flavor but not spicy with plenty of onions and cilantro. The chicken is boiled instead of grilled and the flavor profile is on point. Crisp sliced radishes, lemon and pickled carrots are the perfect complement to my tacos. The carne asada is cooked well but not chewy or greasy. Today, I had take out from El Charros in Carson. The meal was very good as well as a great portion size. The customer service is great. The restaurant is clean. They have a great menu offering a variety of foods. The prices are great for the amount of foods provided. There is plenty of parking. This is the second time I visit this restaurant. The first time I ordered crunchy tacos and they tasted like those frozen tacos. This time I ordered alpastor tacos. I found another gem literally hidden in the corner of the strip mall. We came here for their taco Tuesday ($1.89). We both ordered 5 each with a mixture of different meats. It was all really good. You order on the counter as you enter like a fast food place and they call your number. If you're eating at the place, they actually give you real plates so that was pretty good. Another random yelp find that we had to try out ... I'm always in search of crispy hard shell tacos or crispy taquitos or rolled tacos as we know them from growing up in Az. At first glance this spot is cute, very clean, well organized, plenty of parking, it had a small self serve salsa bar (which I'm a huge fan of) and it was pretty busy at lunchtime! All good signs. You order and pay at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready. Now would I say this is the best most authentic Mexican food I've ever had? NO. However was it good, yes. Would we return? Also yes. We tried the taquitos, hard shell tacos, enchilada and carne asada taco .... For the ground beef crispy hard shell taco alone, I would return! Crazy how hard that is to find in this area!!! With a plethora of Mexican restaurants in the area, I was craving some nachos or hard-shell tacos and this place was a couple of miles away from work, so I decided to place a phone order for their super nachos with chicken. The employee took my order promptly and was super friendly and said they would be ready in 10 min. Located in an older strip mall, there was plenty of parking at the time I went. Upon walking in, the restaurant is very clean and inviting. My order was ready to go. Since they were "loaded nachos" I assumed they came with jalapenos, salsa, sour cream, guac, and lettuce, but I decided to ask the employee if they came with jalapenos and she said yes and asked if I wanted more and I said sure (I didn't take a peek at this point). I ate them when I got back to work and it was a decent size for 13.25 incl tax, but I was disappointed that the chicken was not all white meat and there was no salsa in the bag. I've been coming to Taco Charro for years, and it consistently is a great spot with tons of authentic options. On my most recent visit, I had the gobernador and barbacoa Tacos. It was slightly different than usual, maybe a new cook? But still really tasty. The tacos are fried, flavorful, and although on the smaller side very filling. Make sure to ask for the special hot sauce when you order these tacos, it's not available with their regular salsa bar. It really makes a difference! I also appreciate the clean and comfortable dining areas, both indoors and out. The staff is always friendly! Don't leave without trying their flan, I believe it's outsourced, but it's still highly recommended and they have unique flavors like coconut and coffee. read more

My wife found a review for this establishment on Instagram, do we had to take the 15 min or do drive. It's kind hidden in the corner in a little strip mall, but once inside it's pretty big with plenty of seating, They have a pretty extensive menu with lots of delicious food to choose from. My wife ordered crunchy tacos with ground beef, and the were stuffed with all kinds of goodness. She loved the fact that you can get ground beef because not many places offer it. I ordered nacho's with Al Pastor, and let me tell you, this is by far the best Marinated Al Pastor I've eaten. It was well seasoned and delicious, there was cheese and sour cream along with jalapeño peppers. There's also a condiment bar with marinated carrots, radish slices and various salsa's to choose from. To drink we got our favorite, orange whip/bang because there's not many places that carry it. Over all the staff was friendly and food is great. Definitely recommend This place. read more

The cashier could've used a pick-me-up, though - she didn't greet me and jumped straight to taking my order. Came here as my meeting was in the area. This spot had high reviews. It's in a huge shopping plaza so ample amount of parking. It's at the corner so you can't miss it. The inside is pretty spacious with lots of tables. A bit basic but no complaints. The place was relatively empty when we got here on a Saturday early evening. We ordered chile relleno plate which was ok but not that good (the lady hyped it up too much hence the disappointment) and chicken quesadilla which was really good. The salsa and lemons were okay. Let's get to the tacos. Before I got to the table we were sitting at, the tortilla was falling apart. The buche meat was good, but the lengua had no flavor. The soup of the day was horrible. The meat tasted weird like they used the meat from another type of dish cleaned it out and put it in the soup. I tried to eat the veggies but couldn't even eat that. First time coming to this place after hearing about it from a friend. The location is tucked in the corner of the shopping plaza behind the ikea at the Carson mall. It is shared with other restaurants but it's the only Mexican food spot. I tried their carne asada nachos which were fully loaded. There so many toppings and steak they don't skip out on the good stuff! I was able to finish off the chips with a lot more to spare so I made myself a burrito at home. There were so good. The staff was friendly and kept the place clean and fully stocked the salsa bar. The food came out at a red price and time after ordering. If you are in the area would definitely recommend this spot. Located in the corner I shall say. A door down from the Beauty Supply Store. Latin music playing as soon as you walk in the establishment occupied by a big space. So the vibe was already on point. More than enough tables and chairs with a patio area also. Extremely clean and organized from what I noticed. Both cashiers were welcoming and nice. No trouble placing my orders. Both were quick. First I ordered a breakfast burrito (half/half) bacon, eggs, green onions, potatoes and sausage. Order total came out to $11-$12. Rating at a 4/5 cuz there was no cheese. Didn't know I had to ask for it lol. It was good but I wasn't full just yet haha. About 10-15 mins after devouring my burrito, lol, I went back to grab some tacos since it is "Taco Tuesday". 2 tacos for less than $5 including tax and .35c charge to use my card due to order being under $5. No complaints. Haven't ate them yet but they came with everything. Hopefully they'll be a great snack while I'm working haha. All in all, I will be back. I had it for the first time and it was basic. Maybe good for this area for what it is. I had the asada wet burrito and the meat had zero flavor. I had to add guac and sour cream. The red sauce tasted like canned tomato. Not authentic at all. Service was good, besides I asked for it to eat there and they gave it to me to go. Ambiance was good. I've been eating their food since they were located across from City Hall. I can recall that everything was always yummy. The food was even consistently tasty even when they moved to this location. I now normally only get the al pastor tacos and recently ventured to retry the carne asada, barbacoa, and the gobernador tacos. Now I must say that I saved the al pastor taco for last since I knew it was a sure thing as far as the delicious consistent flavor. The carne asada and barbacoa were just ok, nothing I will order again going forward. The gobernador taco was a most definite NEVER AGAIN as it was so disappointing in the mushiness of the shrimp and lack of flavor that even the sauce on it couldn't redeem it. Their beans and rice are just ok but nothing crave worthy more of just filler. I wish there was more flavor even in the carne asada because that's something that when it's done right it could really give your tastebuds that wonderful flavor of all will be right with the world. I even shared my order with my husband to see if it was just me and he said the same thing. On another note , their salsas arequite delicious especially the verde. Nothing super spicy but just enough to make the other items that are lacking flavor more palatable for your expectations. As for the ambiance, it's a really nice clean and spacious place. You can feel comfortable dining in solo as well as with friends and family. I see the other reviews giving praise for some of the same items that I've tried and I just did not have that experience. For the records I tried the tacos on multiple occasions except for that shrimp one. I'd recommend this spot most definetly for their al pastor or if you just need to put some food in your tummy but really are not looking for that flavor packed experience. They have an overwhelming extensive menu so maybe that's why some of the items are just ok. Either way, give this place a try for yourself, maybe my expectations for basic tacos that you can get at a taco truck are just higher. Long story short, stick to the al pastor and the green salsa and you will be solid! read more
