You get the option to have it spicy or mild and I always pick spicy (which is not particularly hot for my palate), and they provide you with a red or green sauce to add at your leisure. The carne asada was juicy, but the flavor of the meat was lacking, and the mild green sauce was hardly noticeable. The fresh veggies went well with the dish, making it a satisfying enough meal, but nothing noteworthy. Service was more than sufficient with only one other customer inside 30 minutes before closing time, and I was in and out in no more than 10 minutes. It's a bit mediocre and inconsistent. Thought this place was ok before, but was really disappointed today. Granted, I ordered doordash today but I don't live far. I called ahead to ask and confirm if they sold REGULAR SIZED bean and cheese burritos. They said yes, and that it would be $8 plus tax. Cool. I got there, ordered my burrito to which the cashier said it wasn't on the menu and had to ask one of the other workers to clarify. She comes over, puts the order in, and I paid a little over $10 after tip. I wait a few minutes for my burrito, and I get the smallest, kid-sized burrito. I paid almost the same price as other burritos, and I get the smallest burrito ever? I looked at other plates to see if it wasn't just me, and everyone else had big burritos. The lady in the glasses assisting me said that that was the only burrito size they had and she couldn't do anything about it. She then asked me if I wanted to order anything else (out of my own pocket). I consumed the burrito in less than a couple of minutes, ate all the chips because I was still starving and left. This was such a fun experience trying the restaurant. We came at the beginning of lunch when there were a few people here and there, and soon after, the place was bustling with people! The servers were very polite and friendly and the atmosphere was warm and pleasant. I wanted to try so many foods, but I ended up with the Carne Asada plate which comes with flour or corn tortillas on the side. At first bite, this was the juiciest and savory carne Asada I ever had! The rice was a nice touch too. I opted out the beans because I cannot eat beans, but just want to let you know that's an option, too. We went to go to the driving range near this restaurant, and the waitlist was about two hours, so we seen this little place and decided to go in. Very authentic little place with a very nice staff. Of course I got the Carnitas super burrito. When it was brought out to us my first thought was it looked a little small. But what it was lacking in size it definitely made up with flavor. I thought it was absolutely delicious all the way around. My date got a taco salad and I did try some of it, she ordered grilled chicken in it. Again, the flavor was great. My daughter and recently visited this quaint town as it had been a life long dream of mine. Why a lifelong dream? Well Alviso is my family name and I have no doubt the early Alviso settlers here were my ancestors. After a trip to the marina where we saw the most beautiful pink pond we were hungry! El Taco de Oro had a lot of stars and the pictures looked good. So we went. When we arrived we noticed they also had a taco truck and figured it must be good if they are also putting a truck out there. We were not disappointed!! I do not believe I have had that good of Mexican food in I can't tell you how long. The size of the burrito was so big I couldn't finish and now regret not taking the rest to go. It was filled with delicious chile verde. My daughter had the menudo and it looked fresh and smelled as it should (I have to say I do not like menudo and am not a fan of the smell. lol) She really enjoyed it though. The chips and fresh corn tortillas were an extra bonus and the salsa was amazing. Staff was friendly, service was speedy, and the restaurant and bathroom were clean. The price was great too! Ordered the "Enchiladas de Chipotle" today. The chicken inside the enchiladas tasted strange. Opened up one of the enchiladas and saw that there was mold on the chicken meat. Called the server and showed her the moldy piece. She asked what she could do to rectify the situation. this is a corner spot in the small town down the road from our church. Came for lunch and it was pretty empty. We seated ourselves and were greeted with free chips and salsa. I liked the simplicity and flavor of the salsa. I'm giving a rating of 3.5 for food. The food was pretty good for a taqueria style restaurant. 4 stars for Service -friendly and helpful. The place is clean which I appreciate Portions we just right and prices are fair. My favorite thing was the homemade corn tortillas. The coffee is made with canela. I enjoyed the meal and left full. Am a fan of this place. My colleagues told me about this place but I flaked when they all went so when it was our rest day from the gym I suggested we go here. Not too far from where we work and definitely plan to come early if you don't want to deal w/ parking. It does get full... and not to mention there is a El Taco de Oro truck right in the parking lot! I was told that it was completely separate from the restaurant despite having the same business name. I think Ronnie ordered a burrito but I ordered a taco salad w/o the rice, cheese, and sour cream. It came in a tortilla shell (I'm sure it was yummy) but I didn't eat it because I ordered a lengua taco as well as my side. Loved the service. Loved the food. I was visiting Alviso when I ran across this Mexican Restaurant named El Taco De Oro. I noticed very few recent reviews so I figured it was time for a current one. Outside was one of their food trucks which gave a very nice, clean presentation. Inside, the restaurant it was very clean and appeared to be well stocked with bottles of beer and soda. The menu had many items on it and they accepted charge cards. It was a self service operation where you wait in line, order, pay and get your drink. When food is ready it is delivered to you. Overall, the restaurant was understaffed. One young man, who was very polite and had a great attitude, was taking orders, cashiering, delivering food, cleaning tables, and everything else. I ordered the Chili Verde Wet Burrito, my friend a Taco. The Burrito was OK but the Pork was tough and fatty to eat. The rice, beans and sauce was excellent-not spicy (the way I like it). The beef taco was excellent, per my friend. I know Covid has hurt many businesses and it's obvious De Oro is really trying hard-but they are not dazzling me with service or food quality. Will definitely try again and upgrade review as I really want to give them 5 stars. If in the area, give it a try. The inside seating area and selection of beer/drinks is great! read more

We were happy to spot this place after our long bike ride along the baylands. I will say the service was excellent, fast and courteous. The establishment is clean, and the rest room is spotless. The food was good, but not as good as I thought it would be. The nacho dish came in a large pile, the nachos were not laid out neatly which made it difficult to share. The melted cheese stick everything together in a lump. There was an inadequate amount of guacamole and sour cream for the number of chips. I would not order this dish again. The burrito was ample, but was loaded up with way too much rice. The proportions were just not right. I would not recommend this. I did not eat a taco, but I could see my friend removing onion. Loved El Taco De Oro, especially after a long bike ride at the Alviso park. You get hungry and cranky and tends to be hot, so a beer and some great tacos in a 'trip to Mexico' right at the corner seems like a wonderful option. My boyfriend took me here as he is a super fan even when they were just a taco-truck. He used to come with work colleagues and the lines were always huge. I am glad than on a Sunday late afternoon we entered in 'quiet zone mode' with just a few customers, so service was great and prompt. Decoration wise, everything looks so 'Mexical postal', like you are going to meet Frida Kahlo for cafelito at any time. It is spacious yet cozy and very colorful (exactly what you expect of a pretty, family oriented Mexican restauran). Off the beaten path for sure, but Alviso is a gem by itself, like lost in time and out of place, which I love it. When I first moved to the area I was happy to see a taco truck so close by. (Resturaunts closed due to Covid) Now I am not so happy... I'm not sure how you can screw up Mexican food so bad but they found a way to do it. Carne Asada has chewy fatty pieces in it, the Salsas are terrible and may just be store bought and the Reason I'm writing this post is me and my wife have gotten sick off their food the last two times.
