Ordered food delivery from Taqueria Las Vegas and came away pretty underwhelmed. The food itself was just ok at best. What I had: - California burrito (choice of al pastor) - Jumbo burrito (choice of carne asada) - extra salsa (paid add-on) Both burritos were just okay at best. The California burrito and the jumbo both had a pretty disappointing meat-to-filling ratio, which is a letdown when that's supposed to be the star of the burrito. The Al Pastor in my burrito was not great either, the chew was somewhat soft and many pieces kind of 'floss-like', Definitely not the usual texture or mouth feel I normally get with al pastor meats in burritos. The fries were really just ok, not overly soggy but not crispy for sure. California burritos are my favorite item to order at burrito spots and Taqueria Las Vegas's was just ok at best IMO. On top of that, both burritos were noticeably oily like you could literally see the oil and meat juice soaking through the wrapper before we even opened the bag. Not a great sign, and not a great eating experience either. We also paid extra for a salsa and only got one in the bag- which by the way, I couldn't really tell if the salsa was the same as the pico de gallo red one that came with the chips, or actual burrito/taco salsa verde. That raised a bigger question for us: are red and green salsas not normally included with the burritos here? If not, that's a value problem on top of the food issues, since most taquerias just toss those in standard. read more

I'm sharing updates to my previous review: my current experience shows that the food is average - the guacamole lacks any flavor, taste. The salsa bar has very basic ingredients that are not fresh, their salsa choices are bland and truly lacking that magical zing which one craves for when thinking about salsa and chips. The chips are ok. I saw one of the table host pick up a chip off the table and toss it into the chip tray. Eew!!! The food is mighty expensive ... two plates and a breakfast combo of eggs, potato and pinto bean cost $83.00!!!!!! That's $$$!!!! The ambiance is basic, not fancy. Which is fine. I'm not jipping them a star for that. I'm definitely jipping them for poor quantities and lack of any flavor, I'm jipping them for the expensive bill. And 1 star off for the hygiene. Essentially, my update is to speak to kind staff, expense and taste. The front counter staff are super polite and kind and don't make you feel like a dunce when you ask them to clarify! Super burrito with fried shrimp is out of this world. I usually get my usual which is pork burrito but when I saw fried fish I choose that but they gave me the wrong order which was fried shrimp but anyways hella good! From order to delivery was less than 30 min, more like 20 min. The fish taco had a nice spicy sweet mango salsa, I would order this again. The quesa birria is a go to order now for me. They're so crispy on the outside and filled with meat on the inside. I could use more consommé but not a deal breaker. The chile relleno with al pastor enchilada was decent. This place is great and has been a staple for years! I usually get the carne asada fries but I got the Carne Asada Taco Plate Trio that comes with rice and beans and it was good! They have a salsa and toppings bar on the side of the register that you can load up on as much as you want. Overall this is a solid spot if you are craving this! read more

They have a self-service chips and salsa bar. Their chips are crispy and they offer a variety of salsas. They have little plastic containers you can use for your salsa and bags for your chips. Parking can get a bit tight during their busy times, but I think they have adequate parking in their lot. In addition to their burritos, they offer a wide range of dishes. Their burritos are nice sized and they filled with deliciousness. It's one of my families go-to items. My son enjoys their Wet Burritos and I really enjoy their 2-Taco Plate. The first time I ate here about a couple of years ago I ordered the chilaquiles con huevo, which wasn't heavy but filling. So I tried the milanesa at Taqueria Las Vegas. This dish might be texture thing for me, but I thought the milanesa at Taqueria Las Vegas was ok. The meat of quesabirria was flavorful and moist while the tortilla was slightly crispy. I wanted to try another dish. Almost fifteen years ago when I went to San Diego for my cousin's bachelor party I ate carne asada fries for the first time as they were a huge thing there. I liked it a lot as the fries weren't soggy but the dish was very flavorful yet not salty. I've never had another carne asada fries since San Diego. About three weeks ago I ordered the carne asada fries as that is supposed one of the signature dishes at Taqueria Las Vegas. I was disappointed because the fries were bland. This was such an unexpected gem in Milpitas. We were in the area and looking for a local Mexican taqueria and it was an amazing experience! The staff were super friendly and there's plenty of seating inside and outside. There's a wide selection on the menu, which is great. There's also a salsa bar with endless chips, pickled veggies, condiments, and different types of salsa. I had the super nachos and they were delicious. This place exceeded expectations. I came there for breakfast and ended up getting a chorizo breakfast burrito. It was hella good. I walked there, but there seems to be hella parking and hella seating. They have indoor and outdoor seating along with a salsa bar. They do have a fountain machine plus frescas/horchata for you. Unfortunately this one didn't quite deliver. First issue: tortilla-to-meat ratio was way off. Way too much tortilla and not nearly enough meat. The chips were the typical store-bought kind, which is always a bit of a red flag. The salsa bar looked promising -- plenty of options -- but the salsas themselves were just average. For me, salsa quality is the real test of a taqueria. You can tell when it's homemade with care versus something that feels like an afterthought. To be fair, this is Milpitas, the Chinese food capital of the area, so the taquerias probably don't face the same level of competition. I've been coming to Taqueria Las Vegas since high school! I won't say how many years that's been but I'm glad they are still around. I come here on and off, but my most recent experience really cemented my feelings on why they are so long lasting. I love lengua and been only going to taco spots if they got it. I have to say theirs is chunky and tender. Absolutely delicious! But not the best I ever had, but definitely one of the top in the South Bay. It could have a little bit more flavor. In high school, I used to get the carne asada fries always, but I only recently it occurred to me to try it with other meats and just as enjoyable. Love the salsa bar with tortilla chips as well. Just a tip, the online order adds $1 if you get lengua, but order in person, it's only $.30 more. Prices aren't too exact, because we got added $.30 more for another meat but menu said no added surcharge. Lastly, Fish tacos are well flavored and service is super nice. read more

This Taqueria is like many you will find in the Bay Area. There are several things I think that put it above the average. First they offer a free chips and salsa bar, which is really nice. The meats they offered were also really well seasoned and prepared, including the fish, Al Pastor and the lengua. Really well made rice and beans as silly as that sounds better than most other places. But what really put this place over the top for me is the service. So it's been quite a while since I have been here and it's not due to anything on TLV's end but more of life happening and dealing with that alone. Anyways, my wife used to work a Prudential and I worked at a local clinic and she brought me a chorizo burrito for breakfast one day and it was beyond great. The flavor was very authentic and you definitely get your moneys worth. Add some avocado and you're in business. I been craving this spot for a few years now and plan on going really soon! I hope it's under the same ownership because it would a be crime for the quality to go down. I really like this taqueria. I mobile ordered a few things and it was ready really quick. When you walk in you are at the register. This place is smaller but it's set up is like a typical taqueria. The food is average. What you would expect. Not great but not bad. I will keep going back. We got nachos, nacho fries, and tacos. You get large portions in all the dishes we had. Anyway, parking isn't too bad even if the restaurant is located in a small-ish spot. It's def. easy to spot too, so you can't miss it! Haha. Anytime I come here (even when it's full) there's always a spot to park in. Most of the time people come to pick up their food and go. The staff is still the best! Very friendly and they always have such a positive attitude. You can catch them talking to the customers too when it's not busy since there's so many regulars that come on a daily basis.
