This place was called Cocina Dona Maria now it's Mor mex Mexican grill. I believe it's the same owners just changed the name a bit. Both names come up with the same address. I stopped coming here because the food was tasteless and seemed old. I wanted to give it another try being a few years since I've been here. Today I ordered what I usually do, the Chili Verde Burrito. I figured it just opened so food should be fresh. Again the burrito had no flavor. If you know chili verde you know that it has flavor. The meat pieces were hard and smelled funny. I'm disappointed because I would love to have a good place to eat in the neighborhood. I don't usually like to make any comments or like to critique food, but I think if I can't even eat the burrito it's worth telling others to save your money. Sorry, I have given you another chance but it's not even close to mediocre. Hard pass. read more

The food was ok. Got crispy tacos de lengua. Needed a bit more seasoning. We did get complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was pretty good. It was a bit pricey and no happy hour. I got 2 tacos a la carte & 1 bottle of beer after tip was almost $20. I could have gone next door to Clara's Station and gotten 3 chicken tinga tacos and a pint of beer for the same price. We walked here so I can't really speak to the parking situation. There was construction going on. They share a parking lot with a few other restaurants in the plaza. There were two other parties when we got in. It was a pretty quiet Saturday mid day. We ordered the nachos and it was just the right size for two people to share. Everything was very good. ***3.5 stars*** Not too busy on a Friday evening. Employees were fast and hospitable. Cozy hole in the wall vibes. Complimentary chips and salsa were a nice touch. I got a burrito supreme with carne asada which was pretty good. Meat had good smoky flavor. My friend liked the shrimp on her michelada. Tried some of my other friend's nachos fried grandes which were a bit on the bland side, but I liked that they used crinkle cut fries for it. Super friendly service, explaining the options and offering chips, drinks. The inside is undergoing a refresh and the new murals are quite cool! Worth a stop just for that. The spicy chicken burrito didn't disappoint. Without being overly spicy it had great flavor. You could always kick it up a notch with their sauce. The portions were generous. read more

I don't normally review places but, waited 25 minutes for Nachos that were very stale. Ate about half and threw the rest out. Barely any meat on them. Priced really high at almost $18 for gas station quality nachos. Inside is pretty but I will pass on this spot if I'm ever in the area. read more

We ate here early on Satursday evening. Two of us ordered margaritas. The drinks arrived and tasted like it was mix only. There was absolutely no hint of tequila at all. We then realized that we were charged $12.99 each instead of the special price if $7.99 as was posted on the wall. When we questioned the server about this she acted like she could not understand what we were saying and wouldn't do anything to correct the error. When our food arrived the fajita platter was missing the sour cream and guacamole, and again the server claimed to not understand what we were asking about. I ordered the carne asada chimichanga and it came out so greasy I couldn't even eat it. There was only one other employee in the restaurant who was running the kitchen so we left without having any of our issues resolved. We like to support local businesses and give them the benefit of the doubt, but based on our experience here we will NOT be back and cannot recommend this restaurant to others. read more

Probably the worst Burrito Supreme that I can remember. Skimpy on any carne asada, just a lick of avocado, another lick of sour cream if any, with hardly any pico de gallo?! Mostly only RICE as a filler with a few beans. It was a $14 RICE burrito! instead of a $14 Carne Asada Burrito Supreme. Service was nice and quick. Nobody else in line except me. (Monday after 1pm.) It's hit or miss here ....the real issue here is the staff showing up on time to open...there have been several times where we would go in person or order online and either the store claims its open at one time bit staff doesn't show up until almost an hour later ... its always the weekend where they struggle. Sometimes the thing you place earnestly in your mind comes to you. Do you believe this? Too philosophical? How about this, do you like tacos? Me too, and I'll be damned if I didn't want some really bad a couple Saturdays ago. Problem is I had to work a bit, and I couldn't think of a good taqueria near my location. But there's a pretty good eatery called Boy Meets Chicken, or Chicken Does Something With Rice, a name similar to that I think. You probably know it, that place on Tasman everybody goes to. It's pretty good so I moved my thoughts away from tacos and headed there. Unfortunately I arrived to discover it was closed. There was a note on the door: "closed for training." Bummer. This little strip is full of restaurants and when I looked to the left there it was, Dona Maria Mexican Restaurant. I guess tacos were my destiny this day after all, so I walked through the doors for the first time. I'm glad I did. Looking at the menu it had all of the straight-up standard Mexican fare. Prices looked great. I proceeded to order a bunch of stuff for me and my cohort. The food didn't take too long, maybe 10 minutes or so. We took it to go back to work and eat. Driving back I began to worry about the two hard shell carne asada tacos I ordered. Hard shells sometimes get soggy. I feared the worst, so when I arrived at our destination I hastily unpacked the goods. Lo and behold the shells were still hot and crispy. Taco day of destiny indeed! I dug in. The flavors were fantastic. I especially liked how they put a big slice of avocado on each taco instead of guacamole. Yeah, guac is good and all but I like unadulterated original avocado better. After a couple bites I decided to spice it up, so first I tried a little of the red taco sauce they included. It had a nice smoky burn to it. Then I tried a dab of the green chile arbol sauce they also provided. It was lively. I put a little of both on my tacos and they played nice together. I also bought a soft shell carnitas taco and stashed it in the fridge for later. Good things were reported to me about the pollo asado regular taco I picked up for my colleague. It covered her plate. She also had most of a carne asada quesadilla and liked that a lot with the green taco sauce. We worked into the evening, so when dinner time came and went we both dug into our leftovers. They were even better. Letting them sit a bit brought all the flavors together. I found a really solid taco joint. I'll go again, I'm sure. read more

Only two stars because the service was weak. Even the group I came with agreed on the two stars. We had to keep asking for our items. The quality of the food was okay even though my order was not right. I ordered a Fajita Carne Asada burrito with no rice and no beans. Mine came with beans and the Carne Asada was dry and not enough to fill a burrito for the price. The horchata was good and the nice lady remembered I asked for no ice. This was after I had to go back inside to ask for my drink. Their restroom, which is located in the rear and you had to walk outside and around, was nice and clean. Ordered # 22 t-d papa thinking it was a taco- it was a tortilla filled with pico and cheese and nothing else for this I was charged $3.99 what a huge rip off. Below is our receipt . Pozole was tasty but meat was stringy and tough. Tamales tasteless and stuffed with same tough stringy meat smothered in some type of cream and 3 very very thin slices of avocado. I have a feeling this place is good but because I usually tend to stay away from excessive carbs, dairy (cheese), and fat I ordered a taco salad w/o the shell. The best part of a taco salad is the taco shell fried to perfection so I was hurting a little bit. The romaine lettuce were fresh, the avocado was fresh, and the salsa concoction were fresh. It's a pretty small salad compared to the price that I paid. I forgot about the sour cream.. not the fault of the nice lady that took our order. I'll come back to try enchiladas. read more

On our way to the Grateful Dead show in Santa Clara, we decided it would probably be more cost effective to eat outside of Levi's stadium. A couple blocks from the stadium we thought it'd be a good place to grab dinner as we figured the food inside the stadium would be terrible and over-priced. (We were right). Dona Maria is clean (smells like Fabuloso cleaning products) and orderly, and while a couple of the pleather booths had tears in the seats, the tables and utensils looked clean. We sat down and a nice guy came over to wait on us. We ordered a couple Pacificos with lime and some street tacos, 4 carne asadas for him, 2 chicken for me, with a side of guac, beans and rice. Pretty good mexican place. Free chips n salsa while you're waitin for your food. A minus tho is that they dont have a salsa bar, but they do have red/green sauce. Usually I will gauge a mexican food place by ordering something ive alredy had but ive never had a CHILE RELENNO burrito so i decided to go for it. Thought itd be bomb.com but it was jus ok for me. I got the wet burrito with half green/half red sauce. I felt there coulda been more cheese and the sauce wasnt as flavorful as i liked. Also, the burrito itself had too many beans with the chile relenno being in the middle. As for now, I am still kind of undecided on whether this place is a 3 or a 4. I think next time I'll try a shrimp/meat burrito and see whats up with that. If you dont like beans id probably recommend u tell em to ease off on it as I felt there was an abundance. Overall this place is a solid Mexican food joint and is definitely one of the more cleaner n friendlier places. read more
