Not a lot of flavor though, which is a pity as there was tons of beef (dry, overcooked in spots). Cheese was scant even though I requested "extra." It was ok. I think it would have been better if it wasn't so cuminy. The Salsa had a lot of cumin, so I said ok maybe it's a bad day of accidental over season. Than I tried the crane asada burrito and it was the same! That was the cons. The pros they have fresh carrots at the salsa station and pickled onions that were super yummy! Mediocre at best. Rice and beans are flavorless, but do the trick if you're hungry. Tacos are just a tad too greasy. Flavor overall was questionable. If you're starving, this place will do. I usually go to the Taco Bells and Del Tacos of the world for my lunch, but after going to Taco Corona I've been branching out and trying the small hole in the wall Mexican places. I like to think of them as Mexican taco stands/carts with walls. If you have ever eaten at those places then this is the place for you. Great tacos and totally cheap eats. I tried a few of them(asada, al pastor, chicken, and carnitas), with the asada as my favorite. Next time you're in the Valley and the parking is overcrowded at Taco Corona give it a try. read more

I used to be fond of this place but the last few times I have been here it has gotten worse. I was just there yesterday and purchased an all meat asada burrito for dinner, cost $7.67. The burrito's meat was filled with nasty ass gristle and cartilage, not to mention it was drenched in oil. I had to open the burrito up and eat it with a fork to pick out the meat from the nastiness. I even found a little artery of some art among the "asada". To make things worst, my stomach has been hurting all nite and this morning I did some serious damage in the bathroom. NEVER AGAIN!! Oh and the place is kind of dirty and needs a serious facelift. They only take cash, WTF its 2014! The food was tasty but if you decide to cater with them realize that you will not be able to have any food after they leave. I paid for a hundred people and only 80 people showed and they left us no leftover food whatsoever! There was a lot of food left over!! I went to the restaurant after the fact to let them know that they did not leave any food and complain and they told us they do not let people know this up front that if they order for example 100 people and only 10 people show, that they won't refund any money and they will not leave any food. No hate to this place at all, but I just wished that they had the same flavors with all El Taco Llama places. I was just really upset that it didn't taste the same cause I'm a huge fan of taco llama. This place is one step below roach coach, wouldnt eat there again, maybe in a drunken haze. It was dirty, the salsa trays were all mixed together and greasy. My husband was craving Carne Asada Nachos so I decided to visit the nearest Mexican food restaurant. I ordered ToGo, two orders of Nachos, one Asada and the other Chicken. To my surprise when I got home the Nachos contained tortilla chips, beans, meat, lettuce, tomatoes and shredded jack cheese .....HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. One day I came to stumble on this restaurant and I have never been more impressed in my whole life. The Menudo was cooked to perfection. The beef was so tender, like biting into the little baby Jesus himself! It was marvelous full of flavor. It brought me back to my good old days where I group in a little pueblo in Mexico. Every spoon I took, memories kept coming and all of a sudden life was good again. But, then the unthinkable happened, it finished. That was the worst part of this sublime experience. The staff was superb and incredible. Drinking their Aguas Frescas was like drinking the nectar of the gods. Tortillas were like if Michael Angelo rolled them himself! I want to thank the owner Juan Martinez for letting me into his oasis and opening my taste buds to another world! Thank you to all your staff! I will never eat the same at another restaurant again. I wouldn't give them one star even if they paid me too!! Sebastian was the guy I spoke to and he's not a man of his word and The whole Taco Llama Company can go out of business of all I care!! But I did give them one for the sake of this review. I hired them for my Birthday party which I had 150 guests and the time came for them to show up and they never did!! When I called the gentleman who I had dealt with he said oh I'm at a different event for a bigger company and that he wouldn't be showing up period! He didn't even care or said sorry, I called the restaurant to see if they had for some reason made a mistake but they too said no one told them anything about my party! It was hard for me to enjoy my Birthday party that I had worked months to prepare so that all would go well. I wouldn't go to any of there restaurants or recommend them for anything!! There word means nothing plus not once did they apologize and on top of it the guy I dealt with told me money talks and he was making more money on other event. Who says something like this to someone you didn't bother to call to cancel, how rude plus the day this went down was my actual birthday. I was craving these machaca tacos last night. I haven't been to this restaurant in months. I fell in love with these tacos last year when a friend and me stopped here for late night dinner. The machaca shredded beef was so flavorful and delicious. It was close to my second home away from home. The Van Nuys Entreprenuers office. The last time I came to this place I got sick from these tacos, but had been coming here regularly once a month before that. Last night I invited a good friend of mine for dinner. There were two people working with not the friendliest or welcoming faces n stares or personalities. I got my order and tasted the tacos, rice and beans..and they tasted weird. The beans and rice tasted like they had soap or pee, so did the tacos. I ordered a Jamaica which also tasted weird. The place was empty, just one or two people coming in every so often. My friend pointed out how the place she had thought I was referring to that is directly across the street from In n Out and Arco on Balboa which was crowded with people, and she had parked there first, before I redirected her to Taco Llama. Two bad experiences in a row. I will not be returning or recommending this place like I was before. El servicio y la comida en este lugar le doy un "0" Gordo. The carne asada can be very tasty but quality and overall cleanliness can come in to question when you walk in. That could be a superficial response to the the Spartan feel but I find myself choosing other options most of the time. As for the meat it, has been fatty and with gristle at times which always perplexes me because the person preparing the food has too see that what they are serving is not appealing. Their sign reads Tacos Burritos Tortas and it is all in the name. This place is right across the street from Home Depot and is my "go to" burrito place every time have I am doing a project. If I am hungry, I will often try to think of an excuse to go to the Home depot around lunchtime just so I can get one of their burritos. El Taco Llama is a taco restaurant straight out of Mexico. Nothing fancy here, plastic and Formica booths and an old TV in the corner showing Spanish Language TV. Order at the counter. You get your cooked to order tacos or burrito and chips within minutes then dress it up with something from the salad bar and enjoy. I took a star off of what should be a 5-star review because sometimes the tables aren't cleaned off and the furniture is getting a little beat up. Don't get me wrong. The Kitchen is in full view and the place is very clean where it counts. It is just like going to Mexico for lunch. read more
