Kathy got right back to me and worked with me on creating my menu and was able to give me a price quote within a few days. They delivered the food right to my door at the exact time agreed upon. The food was AMAZING. I asked everyone to let me know what their favorite dishes were but they were all so delicious it was hard to narrow it down to just one or two. Our main entrees were the lemon dill salmon, the chicken with creamy mushroom sauce and the smoked tri tip. Everyone raved about the sauce on the chicken. I also included side dishes along with the Butternut Squash Soup. The soup was sooooo good. I would order all of the items again. The location itself is compact, but surprisingly well laid out. When we walked in, I was impressed by how many teppanyaki tables they were able to fit into the space. There's also a small bar seating area that feels quaint and appropriate for the size of the restaurant, and their alcohol selection was surprisingly wide. Unfortunately, the experience unraveled once service began. When we arrived, there were only about six people in the entire restaurant. The same young woman was acting as both the server and bartender for everyone. She took our drink order right away, brought waters, and gave my husband his Starry. After that, things stalled. Two more guests walked in, and she greeted them, brought menus, took their drink orders, made their drinks, and continued helping other tables while my drink never appeared. After about 15 minutes, I asked where my drink was. She said she would make it right away, but then continued helping other tables directly in front of us at the bar. When I asked again, she finally mentioned they were out of one of the ingredients for my drink... soda water--something that should have been communicated much earlier. For context, we ordered the spicy edamame, the smoked unagi roll, and the shrimp and steak teppanyaki meal with an extra side of steak. Our bill ended up being over $140, so this wasn't exactly a quick, inexpensive bite. Service continued in the same pattern. She took our food order, the food came out, waters were refilled, but none of the sauces we had requested ever arrived. We were never asked how the food was, and we eventually had to ask for the check ourselves. To be fair, the server was polite and sweet whenever we did interact with her. However, the overall service fell well below basic expectations for both a bartender and a server. Being friendly doesn't make up for missed orders, lack of communication, and long waits--especially in a nearly empty restaurant. The food itself was decent, but the customer service overshadowed the entire experience. Personally, I would rather have a mediocre meal with fantastic service than a decent meal paired with frustrating service. Overall, the experience was disappointing enough that I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this location to others. If this is how they've been operating for as long as they've been open, it's honestly surprising they've maintained a customer base at all.

However, I had the opportunity trying out one of the more well-known butcher shops to serve San Joaquin County. This is none other than "Fagundes Meats & Catering" which has been a staple in Manteca for decades. Their actual brick-and-mortar location is off of N. Main St/E. Louise Ave in the heart of Manteca while their food truck ventures out to various locations for a variety of community events. In this case, I saw them serving hungry patrons at the Manteca Watermelon Street Fair that took place during the weekend of 6/6/26-6/7/26. To those that know this business already is that they are famous for their tri-tip. In addition to that, they also have other amazing protein options including rib-eye, brisket, pulled pork, Italian sausage, linguica, chicken, and the order I went with, their pork belly. I ended up going with their "Pork Belly Kabobs" and went for the combo deal which included a side (I went with their macaroni salad) and a drink (I opted for a Diet Pepsi). Total price for everything was $17 (which included tax + tip); not bad especially at a public outdoor event. I will say that the pork belly was quite delicious; a little bit on the salty side but nonetheless still a fairly decent portion in each and every bite. I paired it up with their homemade BBQ sauce which had a sweet yet tangy flavor. The macaroni salad was just average for me as it had too much of a vinegar taste while lacking a whole lot of flavor. Overall, I enjoyed this meal as it held me through the majority of the afternoon. I am definitely curious to try their other meats if I end up visiting their actual butcher shop. Overall, the service was excellent considering I was at a busy outdoor event. The line moved quickly while the prices were quite reasonable, even these days where meat prices have become quite outrageous. With that said and done, I am giving the mobile food truck portion of "Fagundes Meats & Catering" an above average four stars.
