If I could put less than 1 star I would. The food was horrible!!! Meat was super dry. All our food came out cold. We didn't get our appetizer until after we received our meal. That was also cold. Even the salsa sucked. The service sucked. When we talked to the manager about it she offered us a $7 gift certificate for next time. First off, that's a super random and insignificant number. I went here to try something other than El Espolon, and i was disappointed. I will be staying with El Epsilon. How does a restaurant call themselves with only have 3 mexican meats for tacos. They have no Al pastor how? this is probably the most used meat other than steak. The food had no flavor, and the service was ok. I will not be returning. If your looking into eating mexican food that actually tastes good i would go to El Espolon, don't waste your time or money here. read more

I travel for a lot and have been to a lot of good restaurants. I seen some good reviews about this place and decided to give it a try. I would not agree that the salsa is great, I would say its ordinary, not special and plain. The beef taco is bland and the chile releno is average / plain as well. Overall I was disappointed in the lack of taste in all the items I tried. I believe if you are looking for good Mexican food this place is going to disappoint you as well. If authentic Mexican food is tasteless this is the place to go. read more

Whenever my friends and I come to el tap we are greeted with welcoming smiles and friendly fast service! The dishes are always delicious! I especially love the outdoor play area for my little ones!!! I have been a loyal customer at the old location twice a year for many years when I travel to Sedalia. Visited today with my sisters and after many years of truly excellent Mexican food was sorely disappointed. The new location is the site of another Mexican restaurant which closed(deservedly because their food had became terrible!) The new restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the service was good. The food though was NOT up to their old standards. The chile relleno was nuked and leathery and bland. The Dona salad which had been light delightful and refreshing was cardboardy salad mix with some avocado mush mixed in, instead of the fresh crisp shredded lettuce with avocado slices. The tamale and enchilada were average. Even the beans and rice were just ok. The food before had always been fresh and perfectly seasoned and well presented, now it's not a bad Mexican place but it is not the refreshingly fresh and authentic place it used to be. The salsa is still top notch! Mild but sooo flavorful and fresh tasting and the homemade tortillas still very good! read more

I like the fresh tortillas. That little gal gets making them and you want to take a dozen home. Butter and honey are a good way to eat them. The cheese dip gets better the cooler it gets because it thickens. I had Mexicali Chicken and it came with grilled shrimp and a light cheese sauce served over rice. Tasted great. I used to come to this restaurant all the time when it was in the old location. Not so much since they've moved to the new location. It's noisy and understaffed chronically anymore. Seems I can never get out of the place without spending under $60 for 4 people (w/out drinks - BTW) and leave hungry. I just went yesterday again after boycotting it for 6 months and left irritated again. Service - We had to remind Oscar to get lemons and gauc more then once. They were stingy with chips and salsa. Food - Just marginal this time. Value - Paid too much for what we received. If the food was outstanding, I would not care what I pay. But it was just ok. There are other Mexican restaurants in Sedalia that are just as good and meals are priced better. One more thing: They only punch the awards card once every time you come in. So, if I bring in 10 people to eat or one person, it's the same amount of punches on the card - ONE. WTF?? It'll be awhile before I come back, El Tap. read more

I was not impressed at all. Nothing had any flavor. The salsa and the cheese dip were very bland. And the two soft tacos that I payed $7.00 for were completely flavorless. No spices, no herbs, just plain boring hamburger in a soft shell. I wouldn't go there again if the prices were marked down 75%. read more

When El Tapatio first opened they were the best Mexican restaurant in the area. They were always busy and the food was exceptional. I don't know what has happened to them but the food is not the same. The last couple of times we have eaten there, the food has been substandard. The food has gotten worse since they moved. The fried rice was not the typical rice. It was very light in color and had no traditional Hispanic seasonings. The retried beans were ok but lacked seasoning. The enchilada was nothing more than a loosely filled limp corn tortilla filled with nothing more than a tablespoon of ground beef and a very small amount of red sauce drizzled on top. The tamales were the worse. The masa was very thick and the filling consisted of a tiny amount of what I believe was diced, over cooked pork and something I have never had in a tamale before. Diced potatoes! I am assuming the potatoes were for a filler. Maybe they can't afford the new building they are in and therefore having to stretch everything. We will not be going back. Three times was enough. Time to try somewhere else. read more

I have been a customer of El Tapatio for about 15 years. Everyone in my family has celebrated many birthdays there and it is a weekly routine for us to stop in an have some authentic Mexican food. We have always loved everything about the restaurant. The service was exceptional. It felt like the employees were held to a high standard there. The food spoke for itself and was the best authentic Mexican food in mid Missouri. We have never had a complaint about the restaurant until they moved their location. I don't feel that a location change would have been damaging to their reputation but it seems like everything that was loved about this restaurant is gone. The food is awful. It isn't fresh and you have to wait more than 40 minutes for 2 tacos. I've been several times since they have changed locations and I have been equally disappointed every time. My food has been cold every time and I have been sick soon after eating there. The service is terrible. You get seated quickly, at a sticky table. Then you wait for a long time for a waiter. The new wait staff is rude. I haven't liked any of the new servers I've had lately. It's like the standards of the entire restaurant have been lowered. I tried to inform the staff that our food was cold the last time we went in. The server said there was nothing he could do about it and did not care and then never returned to our table again. We informed the men at the register about our disappointment in our food and the waiter and they did apologize but said it was the servers job to handle it. We paid the check with a debit card and left. But after all the disappointment we had the last couple visits we still weren't convinced to stop going there until we got home and saw that money had been stolen off our debit card. When contacting the restaurant we were told that the server that was so terrible put charges on our card. After several days and a lot of stress we finally got the money that was stolen from us back. But it didn't come with any type of apology. If you have not eaten here before, I wouldn't start now. It is a terrible restaurant with horrible service and the food went from being the best to not even being comparable with other Mexican restaurants in the area. read more
