El Tara eco is a Mexican establishment located in a shopping center just off the expressway entrance of Shepherdsville Kentucky. Me and my oldest daughter came in here for a daddy daughter date for lunch on a Sunday around noon. We were seated immediately and greeted with friendly workers. Like most traditional Mexican eateries they start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. Which is always a plus. There chips and salsa were very tasty and the salads had a good flavor. Very similar flavor to another local favorite chain el nopal. For our entrees me and my daughter got something similar. I got the Pollo Feliz and she got the Fiesta Bonita. Whixh both consist of chicken, rice and cheese sauce. Only difference is hers also had shrimp and mine came with tortillas and refried beans. They both cost exactly the same so it's a push on price wise. We both liked our meals quite a bit. I took my tortillas and made 3 burritos and still had chicken cheese and rice left over to eat. So it's good portion size. Chicken had good flavor and unlike some places they do not skimp put on the cheese. My daughter also shared similar sentiments. She liked her meal a lot. So both good plates. Overall we had a nice time. Quick, accurate and tasty service. Indoors was pretty large and had a nice vibe. They had a tasty liking dessert menu but we was in a hurry on this trip as we had a recital to get to soon. So maybe next time we go we will sample the dessert menu. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night and this place was pretty busy but there was no wait. Promptly seated and of course chips and salsa soon followed. They have a margarita special for $2.95, order the special cherry lime margarita, yummy! The salsa was can tomato sauce the chips were stale and my coke was just syrup with a little carbonation. The Fajitas came out on a bed of BURNT onions and bell pepper. The steak was not cut into strips neither was the chicken. When I asked why. They acted like I was stupid like I've never had Fajitas in the last 30 years! They wanted too redo the order. I didn't trust them because of their attitude! Advised the manager. We will just go across the street too El Nopal. He was ok with that. If you like places like El Nopla you will like El Tarasco. They serve you chips and mild and hot salsa when you sit down. We went in on Saturday night around 6:30. It wasn't too busy. We were greeted and given drinks and told our server we needed just a couple minutes before we ordered. About 15 minutes later he returned. However after we ordered our food took maybe 5 inutes, it was crazy how fast our food came out.My boyfriend ordered a chicken and rice burrito with queso. It was actually really good. I ordered the fajita tacos and those were really good as well. Overall the place was good, but nothing super special or out of the ordinary. I do not see myself making a special trip back. However if you are in the area and want Mexican food it's worth trying. read more

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Bullitt County! We have to drive past 3 different Mexican restaurants just to get to El Tarasco. Soon as you walk in you notice the decorations are more festive than at most other restaurants. The staff is very friendly although we try to get the same guy every time. When you sit down you're given your chips and salsa. It taste like it was made fresh and they bring you as much as you want. What really brings me to El Tarasco is the quality of their food. You have the same options as most other big name places but here, they have a bigger selection. Not to mention everything taste as fresh as possible. I usually order the burrito al carbon but at El Tarasco, I'm not scared to try something new! Order your usual go to dinner from here and I know you won't be disappointed! read more

We were greeted promptly after walking in and seated with chips and salsa coming immediately. Service was good. I had a simple small margarita which was great and flavorful. My son and I went on a Friday night, and to our pleasant surprise there was a white kid playing acoustic guitar and singing (pretty damn good local talent - Trevor I believe). There was a non-smoking section and a smoking section, and as a non-smoker I didn't notice any odors. The place had a good crowd, and our food took a good 20 minutes after ordering, which is slow for Mexican food. Ordered Burritos Mexicanos and Burrito Carne Asada. Both were solid tasting.
