To the left is a another room with more chairs and tables to dine in. You place your order at the counter for either to go or dine in. We dined in so was given a table number and sat ourselves down and had our food brought to us. I first learned and experienced lunas through the multiple events and work they do in the okolona community and for the Parrish of St. Rita. They are very involved in this aspect and it's great to always see them. I finally got around to visiting the store front recently and was not disappointed. They have a large diverse menu that includes authentic Mexican food and drinks. This includes Authentic Mexican breakfast dishes they serve all day. Which is unique as off the top of my head I can't think of anyone else who does that. I'm a pretty simple guy so I went with a regular chicken quesadilla. The service was super fast and friendly. The quesadilla was of A nice portion size and was very good. Very fresh chicken and tasty cheese. Most quesadillas I need a salsa or pico de gallo to give it that extra flavor. However on Lunas I did not. It was filled with fresh and tasty chicken, cheese and sauces and was great on its own. My wife on our in person visit got the Carne Azada and it was a huge portion. She was a big fan. She also went for one of there authentic Mexican drinks called a mango water. She had tried this at a taste tour that lunas participated in earlier this year and liked the drink so she was excited to have it again. Overall this is a really good and tasty hidden gem in the Lousiville and okolona community. as mentioned before Lunas is a very active community member in the area they serve. The inside has been completely re-done and is much brighter and roomier than FDKY. Gone is the sectioned off area and all the firefighter memorabilia. Instead the walls are brightly and sparsely decorated in a Mexican motif. El Taco Loco is a full service dining experience. The menu is sizable and varies, with specialties and traditional dishes. For my first visit I got the nachos. About the nachos I've this to say: Holy Hell! That's a lotta nacho, and it was DELICIOUS. And, before someone asks, no I wasn't able to eat all of it. The servers are very friendly and helpful. High marks for glass bottle Mexican Coke®. The restaurant is very clean, with tables being cleared right after a table empties, and I like the team work ethic. The servers help each other take care of the tables. I love teamwork. We've been looking for a restaurant to add to our Friday dinner rotation. I think El Taco Loco just earned a spot on that list.

Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing for me. I ordered steak tacos, and when they came out, they smelled off, almost like the meat was old. The tacos were also extremely small. At first I wished I had ordered more because of the size, but after tasting and smelling them, I was glad I didn't. I tried steak tacos from another restaurant just a couple days later and they tasted completely normal, so it really stood out to me here. Another thing I noticed immediately was the smell inside the restaurant itself. Walking in, the odor was pretty unpleasant and strong enough that I literally had to put scented lotion on just to tolerate it while eating. Overall, this was kind of a mixed experience for me. The margaritas were excellent and definitely the saving grace, but the food quality and overall smell of the restaurant made it hard for me to fully enjoy the visit.

It just missed the mark this time. Enchilada sauce was too sweet, beans and rice were just meh. Portions were a joke. Maybe a 1/2 cup of rice and beans. Kicker was the bone chip in the ground beef. Yeah,not gonna be back for a long while, if ever. Something is wayyyyyy off. Been going here for yrs. Someone has changed things. Not going back.
