Coming from Chicago, Mexican food is no joke, and this place was surprisingly good! My cousin and I ordered the barbacoa 2 taco plate with rice, beans (both delish!). The waitress was nice enough to warn us about how spicy it was, but we ordered it anyways. She was not wrong, it certainly had a kick, but the flavor was still really great. 2 tacos was the perfect portion as well. We ordered a couple of margaritas (just OK) and I washed everything down with a refreshing glass of their house sangria (YUM). In all, we were content with our visit.

What a find! Great Mexican food, very nice decor, and friendly staff! Will be back to try their margaritas.

Awesome lunch at Mavericks Restaurante Mexicano - complete with chips and salsa, warm jalapeno corn muffins with maple butter, chicken burrito, cheese quesadilla - and of course the best marquritas in the Northwoods. Thanks Katy & Andrea, great seeing you again. Stop in and enjoy excellent Tex Mex in the Northwoods, we sure did.

Amazing inside! I do not know what this building looked like prior to Maverick but it is amazing now. The second you walk in you feel like you are somewhere else entirely. As for the food experience....if you like fusion Mexican dishes with bold flavors and some spice then Maverick is your place. There are no "safe" or boring options. My chicken chimichanga was exceptional. The guacamole is as good as any place I've been. My jalapeño margarita was a solid start to my experience. I cannot wait to get back. However, if you are looking for oversimplified Mexican food then go to one of their competitors because Maverick does not know how to pump the breaks!

Excellent food and service. Definitely a standout Mexican restaurant. The quesadillas, burritos, Mexican street corn and guacamole were very good. Will be our first pick for Mexican food in the Northwoods.

Tried this place on a Sunday and it was great! Had the blueberry pineapple margarita which was amazing. The salsa and chips are also very good. The light and flaky chips have a bit of seasoning on them which is nice. Ordered the chorizo white cheese dip. This dip has a great smokey flavor to it, definitely ordering that again. We also had the chicken chimichanga and the chicken quesadilla. Everything was great. Highly recommend.

Food not hot, cowboy beans were hard. Angry owner, yelling at a customer. Don't waste your time and money at this place

The inside was charming, a traditional looking Northwoods establishment, and it was very clean. The two girls working were extremely pleasant as well. The food is incredible. Everything is seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. The portions are very generous and the toast selection is phenomenal. We had the meat lovers omelette and the raspberry oatmeal pancakes. The pancakes were the best I've ever had, and they're going to keep me full for a very long time because of the oats that were mixed into the batter, I didn't even put syrup on them they were that good. I also ordered a side of the duck sausage and that was amazing too. It was seasoned so well and had a citrusy taste. I highly recommended checking out The Wild Boar if you're in the area.

I stuck with a classic breakfast of maple sausage patties, perfectly done over medium eggs, tater tots (LOVE that this is an option) and homemade cranberry wild rice bread. That bread was amazing - dense and full of cranberries - our server said she recommends people get the turkey sandwich on it and I can see why! Prices are reasonable and the plates are big. Some great game choices if you like that, and plenty of homemade treats to take home too.

Upon entering the parking lot you feel like you're entering an enchanted forest with lights and an outdoor fire pit greeting you. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and we were immediately seated. We were out kim an addition which had ample windows facing out to the lighted trees. Our waitress was very attentive and we were started with a relish tray. It was skimpy compared to what you use to get at supper clubs but appreciated as a comp. We received our meals with a comp loaf of bread. I'm GF so passed on the bread. My husband said it was average and appreciated. He had the prim rib and I had a tenderloin steak with mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes which the first couple of bites in the end was chewy but as I moved to the next bites it was very tender. I enjoyed the Hungarian mushroom soup and my husband enjoyed his clam chowder. We were too full for dessert and I took 1/2 of my meal home to enjoy for lunch the next day. We didn't try any cocktails. We would go back to try more menu items, maybe something light so a dessert could be enjoyed.
