Nothing even interesting, just another cookie cutter mexican joint. So we decided to just have a pitcher of margaritas and eat chips. This obviously annoyed our server. Apparently there are two items on the menu that are steak tacos. One item is Taco De Carne Asada, and the other is TacoS De Carne Asada. If you are one letter off (note the S in TacoS), your server and the manager will buddy up and not help you to get the issue resolved. Confusing menu, and HORRIBLE customer service. read more

Ok, so I was born and raised in Texas and grew up eating authentic Mexican food all my life. Me, being Mexican American, that was mostly what my parents and family members would prepare for family gatherings. I joined the Marine Corps after graduating high school, so with me traveling quite a bit, it has been difficult finding places that actually serve good authentic Mexican food. So, I've been in Georgia for the last three years and I finally found a place that actually serves good Mexican food. This is the epitome of Tex-mex. Do not go here thinking you will receive some authentic Mexican food. The only thing I would consider coming back for is the sangria. The service was less than mediocre with the food to match. I'll come back for drinks and chips and salsa and then go elsewhere for the main course. The service was slow, the menu was so big and had to many items to choose from and it was confusing. My daughter ordered a chicken burrito and after cutting into her second bite she noticed a long curly hair. I got the carne asada tacos and there was hardly any meat, just a bunch of onions and cilantro. My husband ordered the pork carnitas, this was not your traditional shredded pork it was strips of pork with no seasoning. The whole experience was bad. We won't be going back. read more

A tad overpriced compared to other (better) Mexican restaurants. I ordered a quesadilla and received what looked like a decent sized taco. In total confusion, I kept pondering if they were out of the larger sized tortillas. For the most part, I definitely felt like I received a taco for the price of a quesadilla. Tsk tsk! El Torero is by far THE BEST Mexican dining establishment I've ever been to! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! And here's why: A) Amazing chips and salsa; B) Family restaurant with tenured, dependable staff C) Fresh food and high quality meats, and extremely tasty! Best crunchy tacos I've ever had, and amazing white cheese piled on top. Chicken is juicy and fresh white meat Chicken breast, and they do not slack on volume. D) Service is extremely efficient. E) Menu items are well priced. The only things I could wish for are a patio and for them to move to downtown Duluth so I can walk there and enjoy it more often! Went there last night for dinner and a couple margaritas. The absolute worst service I've experienced in quite some time. The entire staff hardly spoke English. They got my order wrong twice, and the entire staff was rude and only offered half apologies. Told the manager we would not be coming back. With no expression he just said, "ok". It's seat yourself and immediately someone came over and took our drink orders. Once we ordered the food was out in 10mins, surprising because there were a decent amount of people. Service was quick and efficient. If I could give 4.5 stars I would since the servers weren't phenomenal or anything, but they knew the menu and were efficient. Good in terms of vegetarian options, I asked about the beans and they said the beans were vegetarian. On the menu it says they can make pretty much all food bean for vegetarians, so safe for vegetarians. Good for lunch since the lunch special prices are pretty decent. Will come again. read more

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. I LOVE the Special Taco Salad in the tortilla bowl. Just as good is the Special Nacho Cheese Taco Salad, but it's a little bit more on the unhealthy side as it's drenched in their oh-so-delicious white cheese dip. They continually come around to refill your beverage, and are always prompt in taking your order and bringing you your food. I have been coming to this location for tasty, inexpensive Mexican for over 18 years and hope they are here for a long time to come!! This location, in particular, has the best wait staff out of all the others I visit regularly ( I know - - too much). My daughter used to beg us to have her birthday parties here and they always accommodated a group kids for the party with no problem. She is now 28 and they still treat her just like family when she comes here with her friends. I have started eating vegetarian in the past 6 months and thought my El Torero time had ended, but I discovered the bean nachos (they'll add a spoonful of rice when I am craving carbs) which are good. Their grilled chicken nachos are my all-time favorites, but no more chicken - darn. They have great service - - you can barely sit down before they have your water, chips and salsa at your table!! The cheese dip is great and nicely spicy and a huge bowl for a reasonable price. They also use the same cheese dip for the base of the nacho plates - - yum! The nachos come in 1/2 or full portion and both are huge and filling. They also have good Margaritas with generous pours as well as nice, cold Mexican beers and others. Last year, they changed the hours and decided to stay open through lunch to dinner which is great for me as I always decided to want lunch about 2:15 and they used to close from 2-5. Like I said, I've been coming to this chain for a long time and have introduced a lot of people to this great place. They don't mind if you want to stay and chat with your friends and will just offer to bring more chips and salsa!! They also will bring a whole pitcher of your non-alcoholic drinks so you don't have to keep asking for a refill - - - what other restaurant does that??? Oh yeah - - if you manage to have any room left in your full tummy, you have to try the Sopapilla a la mode - - it's awesome!!!
