Chips, salsa, guacamole, and Cheese sauce.
    Michael S.

Wifey and I brought 2 grandchildren to dine at PV after church on Sunday. Bale and Luis were our servers. Our daughter showed up several minutes later to join us. We started with chip and salsa, cheese dip and guacamole. The cheese dip was a little runny, but we got through it. Wifey ordered a lunch-size chicken fajita nachos. She liked it. I ordered 2 shredded chicken burritos. I keep forgetting to ask for the white cheese sauce rather than getting the red sauce, but it was okay. The chicken and wrap were very good. Daughter ordered 2 chicken chimichangas and liked them. Grandson ordered children's taco plate. He ate the taco and pretty much left the rest. Granddaughter ordered the children's steak plate and barely touched it. She said the steak, which was chopped up, was too tough to eat. We boxed it up and took it home for her mother. I think I usually go 5 stars at our favorite Mexican restaurant, but taking off a star on this occasion. Bale and Luis were very courteous and helpful. I trust we will be back soon.

I always enjoy eating at PV. The service is always good & it never takes long to get anything. We went around 6:00pm on Tuesday. We were seated as soon as we walked in. They had Tuesday margarita specials so we got a pitcher of lime margaritas for $12.99. Instead of getting the same thing we always get, we decided to try something new for dinner & I'm so glad we did! We ordered the Volcan Fajita - it comes with beef, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, fresh Mexican cheese, & spicy Volcan cheese. It comes with rice, beans, guac, sour cream, & tortillas. It was AMAZING. I will definitely get it again the next time I go!

Since our last visit there's been a few improvements. The salsa, while still too "wet" had much better flavor. And the flour tortillas were much improved. And again, a packed lunchtime crowd without any sacrifice in service. I ordered lunch sized chicken fajitas and my wife went with a tostadaguac. Essentially, a tostada with ground beef, lettuce, cheese & guacamole. Portions are ample. The food served hot. But again my chicken was on the dry side. And, despite being on the menu as a side, you can't get black beans instead of refried. To us, that's a big deal. Puerta Vallarta is fine for lunch-but there's a lot of others to visit.

Had to take a walk to have dinner here on business. My wife and I went to Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon in 2009 and when I saw the name the dinner choice was sealed. And boy was I delighted with the EL BURRITO DE LA ROQUETA. So flavorful, rice was really good and so were the chips and salsa. Had a delicious Corona Rita for a perfect pair. Cheers!

Horrible, wet soggy taco salad. Won't be back! Strong smell of cleaning solution as you walk through the door. I called the Manger regarding the watery salad and he didn't seem really concerned. I wasted 10.00 bucks on a lunch I couldn't eat.

The Volcan $17.99. Has everything in it and wonderful.

Just ordered the Volcan to-go. $17.99 They charge an extra 70 cents for to-go orders. I did get salsa and a bag of chips. The chips were a little hard compared when you sit down and eat there. A couple of the staff asked what i was looking for. I wanted several different items like a taco, burrito, enchiladas... I decided to just go with my favorite The Volcan. I did not get my tortillas that are suppose to come with it. I even double checked and asked...do tortillas come with this? Well some one dropped the ball on that. They weren't busy so there is no excuse. Didn't like the extra charge for carry out but i paid. The menu is way too big! Most the combos are similar but called different things. Kitchen staff must go crazy over the huge menu. They can probably cut it in half if they wanted. Took it down to a 4 star because they firgot my tortillas and the up charge for carry out.

Where do I start.. this place is SO good. Our third time was cinco de Mayo & the staff is SO SO NICE!!!! And so catering towards all guests. They work very well together as a team and their food is to DIE for. This is the third time we've gone. Margaritas every time! They have a 40 oz margarita also. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant I have EVER been too! you will not be disappointed w the staff or the food!

I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

But I felt La Lupita had slipped a bit. Initial service was excellent, we were greeted and seated promptly. Drinks were served and our order was taken. But once the food was brought to the table, our server was nowhere to be found. Refill for ice tea? Nope. We ordered one set of corn and one set of flour tortillas and got two orders of corn. It took us quite a while to find the server to get the error corrected. The complementary chips and salsa were way off. The chips were stale and they switched to a green salsa. Admittedly, a personal preference, but I liked the red better. My wife enjoyed her usual- camarones Mexicano. Served sizzling and perfectly done. I don't recall the mixed fajitas (my usual) as being so greasy. Again, served hot. Lots of peppers, onions, & grilled tomatoes. No jalapeños. I could have asked for some as a side and I'm sure they would accommodate. I also found it odd that La Lupita doesn't offer any beans other than refried. We asked for black beans or pinto or borracho. They're not offered. Yet they were able to serve refried black beans instead of the usual borracho or pinto refried version. Prices, inevitably, were up since our last visit. La Lupita is still a favorite for authentic Mexican food. We just caught them on an off day and it was still way ahead of most Mexican restaurants.

We had the leftovers for lunch the following day. My wife ordered two alacart items. Shrimp cerviche and a chicken taco. Both well prepared. And as a side bonus, the tortillas were outstanding. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas, but these home made gems had flavor and didn't fall apart like packaged ones. Same with the crispy corn shells for the tostada. Great crunch and real flavor. Beer was served cold along with a frosted mug and a slice of lime. Everything is made to order. One fella was the chief, cook & bottle washer. And waiter. Thei give you a complimentary savory broth with hints of seafood flavor and potatoes which is a welcoming opening. The flavor was excellent the tostadas are like home made non commercial, loved them. While Ramiro's may be new to Indiana, they have been around in Louisville for quite some time and decided to make the move here to Indiana in hopes of providing some Mexican food to the Downtown Jeffersonville area. The decor in Ramiro's provides a very relaxing vibe from traditional tables and chair to some very chic couches and chairs that allow you to come, grab some food and read a book or finish up whatever project you may be working on via your laptop. The food here is the real star of the show because every day is a special such as Tuesday's being $3 non-premium tacos such as chicken, steak or ground beef but for $2 more you can get a premium taco such as brisket and more. The tacos are all on a flour tortilla and I'm not sure if corn tortillas are an option (I didn't ask) but they have a lot to offer when it comes to the various toppings you can choose from. Ramiro's also offers quest and chips, elotes and also various alcoholic beverages from margaritas and more. I absolutely recommend stopping by here as they are spot on when it comes to the food and the service is very quick and easy. The owner is super friendly and has plans for a patio so that guests can enjoy their meal on a beautiful day. If you're ever in Southern Indiana or happen to be across the way in Louisville do yourself a favor and be sure to stop by for some very filling Mexican food.

I had told my grandson about the mole I had on our first visit, and he wanted to try it. My wife and I ordered tamales and my grandson ordered the Mole Oaxaqueno. I ordered a Michalada ($10.00). Not long after ordering the manager returned to our table and informed us they were out of tamales. That being the case, my wife ordered the Lunch Chicken Fajita which we were told was on special today. It's normally ($10.99). I ordered Tlayuda, which is basically a Mexican Pizza ($17.00). My wife had asked for a side of the mole sauce. My grandson was served his meal AND an extra plate of Chicken Mole. We all looked at each other like why did he get extra chicken mole. My wife received her Fajita, but no side of the mole sauce. Do you see where this is going? My grandson loved the Chicken Mole. My wife said the Chicken Fajita was bland with no seasonings. She did not like the Fajita. My Tlayuda was huge. However the base was a huge flour tortilla and it was grilled to the point it was like a piece of leather. You couldn't cut it nor chew it. It was terrible. IMO the Tlayuda is not worth $17. I would not order it again. My Michalada was good. So I get my check. My wife's Fajita was not on special we were charged the regular $10.99. The extra plate of Chicken Mole, which was supposed to be a small side bowl of mole sauce was charged as another meal. I did not challenge their misunderstanding of what we wanted because my grandson ate all of it. All in all, we would not reorder most of our meal. This restaurant charges a 4% surcharge for using a credit card, so I took cash to avoid the 4%. When I got my change it was a $5 bill with 14 one dollar bills. The server apologized and said that's all they had. If they're going to charge for using credit cards, they should have cash on hand to make change. Our love affair with this restaurant is quickly waning.
