Got there thursday night about 2 hours before the end of happy hour. Good margaritas, salsa was somewhat watery. Cousin kinda got me drunk, so in my opinion the food was BOMB! Cadillac margarita not all that, but im not a tequila person anyway, but the mango margarita was on point. i am writing this review to give kudos to Armando the best server at El Torito, Hawthrone. As in the movie "The Butler" with Lee Daniels, Armando anticipates your needs and his interface with you is seamless and invisible. If you like exceptional service ask for this guy. As for the restaurant itself it is not without its issues. For example: Last mother's day after waiting 45 minutes to get into the Champagne Brunch we are seated. We ask for champagne and are told they have run out. Really? So, I go looking for Armando cause I know he takes care of his customers and prepares for them. I ask Armando what's going on with the champagne and before I know it I am walking away with a glass of champagne in my hands. elaspe 20 minutes and I start looking for my waiter (not Armando) and he is no where in sight. The table next to us asks to see the manager and complains they haven't seen their waiter. I chime in and say my table has been waiting for the same waiter too. note that my table is full of empty plates and we are waiting to ask for re-fills on our drinks. we get serviced by other waiters. At this time I am thinking no tip for my waiter because of the bad service yet I am thinking of giving the tip to Armando because of his service. Well, it is about time to leave and we get a new waiter. I explain to the new waitress what had occurred and she stated that I deserved a discount which I got. I encourage everyone to complain constructively and get compensated in some form in order to give places like el torito another chance. Because of employees like Armando and getting compensated in some form is what earns this place a 5 star. read more

We went there today for brunch buffet for 18.99 for adults. We were disappointed.For that price there should be more of a variety on food. Second the service was disappointed as well. My wife told one of the employees to get some waiters to sing happy birthday to our guest but never came. And our waiters never came to offer us drinks. We had to get up and get our drinks ourselves. Had brunch at El Torito in Hawthorne this past Sunday August 12th and loved the service! Sandra our server was very friendly and attentive. Brunch was delicious and drinks were well served. My family and I were very impressed with the food options available! The ambiance was pleasing, music was enjoyable and food was exquisite. Additionally, we were greeted by Juana, the manager on site during our visit. She came to our table and greeted everyone in a friendly manner. Our dining experience was excellent! my family and I used to love coming to this location because it's closer to home and it's so big that we've never had to wait before being seated. That being said, the service is typically pretty good. You are greeted as soon as you walk in the door and seated almost immediately. Depending on the day, service can be quick or slow but that goes with any restaurant. I gave four stars for the food. Although the food is delicious, time and time again, the food has not been consistent. We always order the fajitas as they are generous portions and really delicious! Last time and this time, we received fajitas not as described, with bell peppers, potatoes,etc., all we received were onions. When my husband told our server, she said she would try to get us a plate with more peppers and potatoes but it never came. We ordered a combo fajita and the veggie fajitas and neither had any vegetables other than the onion it was grilled with. The chile relleno that came with the veggie fajitas had fluffy stuff on it. Came to realize that it was the egg that it was previously covered in. I still don't know how I feel about that. Good thing I am not allergic because that would've been a huge problem. Again, this used to be my favorite location but after the fajita fail, I don't know if we will return to the location. read more

Since my boyfriend brought me here this past xmas, I came again in April and just like before the food is absolutely amazing. We had the Sunday brunch with mimosas. Cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, sweet corn and tacos. Absolutely amazing. The enchiladas were soft and the cheese was perfectly melted. The rice was fluffy and flavor full, the beans were dalicious, the carne asada on the tacos were seasoned to taste and of course the tortillas were freshly made. Service was perfect.
