Yes, parking can be a bit challenging, but nothing is ever perfect. The moment you walk in, you're warmly welcomed by Barbara, the owner, which instantly makes you feel at home. I ordered the Huevos con Salchichas -- scrambled eggs with sausage, beans, rice, and freshly made tortillas. The flavors were outstanding! The eggs were cooked to perfection, and the beans were incredibly delicious. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner here -- they have an extensive menu filled with authentic Mexican dishes. No parking lot, so finding street parking can be difficult but there's a lot across the street. Be careful crossing the street. Food is ok lady behind the counter didn't speak much enough English, so Know what you want before you get there, you'll be fine. read more

Great place. Second time here. I live in San Diego so when I'm in the area I will stop for lunch. Service is friendly and efficient. Kinda a family feel. Ambience is cozy and the place was clean. The food so far has been excellent. Beans and rice are very good. Kinda of my measuring stick. If a Mexican restaurant can't make beans and rice they should close. This place has it down. Looks can be deceiving on the outside it's not much to look at but what the ladies here cook up sure is, these Mexican spots do not mess around with their portions. Jumping right into it, I got the mol'e burrito because I just love that sauce and a couple of tacos as I didn't know what to expect in terms of size but I should've know. The burrito was huge, loaded with goodies - meat, beans, rice, sauce. Now there was a bit of a language barrier going on so when she asked what else I wanted I just said give me everything, so also included in the burrito was cilantro and I think avocado. Easily the burrito could be shared. On the side is onions, tomato and lettuce. The tacos were good too, average sized but looked great, tasted fresh and were also loaded with the goods - I got one pork and one beef, but included were chopped onions, cilantro and lime. The food took about 15 minutes to prepare but I could tell they did work on the whole meal as they did with others. My only complaint was in the burrito there were bits of bone and gristle in there burrito so I had to stop every few bites to remove it. Also my nemesis - cash only lurks here so there's that. Otherwise this was a nice spot. How much was it all? $10! That's right, Big ol' burrito for two and two tacos - $10. If you're cruising through here, I'd recommend, even though it doesn't look special on the outside. read more

Hidden gem! I was craving home Cooking and Barbarita's delivered. I got 2 pupusas and my husband got one crispy and one regular taco. My best friends mom comes here so much, she had invited me to eat with my best friend and WOW!! You really can't underestimate their food. Tortillas de Mano are the BEST Tortillas I've ever had. The salsas are incredibly flavorful. If you're wondering if you should come try it or not, I'm here to tell you to go for it! Taste and feels like right out of moms kitchen! The series the quality and value of what you receive is some of the best I've ever had. From traditional Mexican dishes to the snacks appetizers and finger foods the serve it all is a great serving for the value. The people there make you feel like your back in a little ranchito in Mexico. The raspados are good but do the math before they charge you on whatever you order because they will charge you more than they are supposed to and now tell you until you are about to leave. Do not let the lady who looks young charge you because she will charge you an extra $1 and she will not tell you. Let the lady who makes the food make your order charge you. I got charged an extra $1.50 because they didn't take my order correctly read more

Maybe it was just a bad luck but I tried the actual food here twice but been here plenty of times. The first time I got a torta de milanesa and it took them 45+ minutes to get that order ready. The torta was a 7/10 for me. The second time I ordered a hot dog and they "didn't have any" then I asked for a quesadilla with Carne Asada and they had just ran out of cheese and so I ordered just two tacos for 99¢ each and it took them 30+ minutes. The tacos were a 6/10 for me. The only reason I gotta give this 2 stars and not 1 was because the raspados are actually really good. Only reason I come back. I would recommend this spot JUST for the Raspados (Shaved Ice) but other then that, I wouldn't. The raspados are great. So if you don't mind waiting 30+ for your food and you want some good raspados. You should Definitely try this place out. read more
