Be warned that if you visit on a Sunday before 2, they won't let you order off the menu. Even if their buffet ends in an hour. Even if you just want a small portion off their regular menu. They also don't tell you this until you are seated and try to order, after waiting 45 minutes for a table. And the price of the buffet? $35 each. What a sad evening, after my nephews graduation. I wanted to take him wherever he chose!First ordered item, the Mango Margarita that ran away from the alcohol. Tasted like an unsweetened slushie, not worth the 15 dollars as the alcohol was non-existent. The Raspado man could have made a better slushie! Second, I couldn't wait to order the corn cake as it had been my favorite years ago. Sadly, it was raw and flavorless. Not what it used to be. I even ordered an extra side of it thinking I scored for tomorrow's morning brunch, at my house. I didn't realize I had ordered yelow Gerber baby food. I ordered the Macho Combo, I'll tell you something, the Macho combo at del taco is way flavourful and less expensive. The thin, watered-down red sauce on the burrito tastes like it came out of a metal faucet from the 1800s. All I can say is that sauce is all canned and I bet I got my daily vitamin of Iron. The beans and rice we're out of this world. It's literally mystery food, dry, flavorless, and unattractive. People out there that are craving it, it's not Mexican food, it's from an unknown frozen refrigerator located a hundred miles away, transported via train for many miles. Please do not order the Mexican Pizza, it's a deep-fried burned flour tortilla that becomes a tostada with a rancid oil taste. They should have called the firefighters to put out the fire in their back kitchen. By the time I left the restaurant, I felt bloated and very uncomfortable. Didn't finish any of the food. The Jamaica drink had 10 sugar cubes with red dye, horrible. I am thinking that drink could have covered my gray hairs if I would have poured it on my hair. We ordered 4 shrimp, wrapped in bacon. The true size appeared to look like 4 tiny gold fish wandering on an extra extra big plate. Come on, at least make it less obvious and use a 6-inch plate. Did I tell you that the beans that are not smashed, tasted like SunVista canned beans. No pos wow! When we all got home, we all felt bloated and ran to the AlkaSeltzer fast. Anyhow, I had not been to this restaurant for years, and sadly, it's not the same. Food quality diminished horribly. I will tell you something positive. The tortilla that wrapped the burrito was the best. Unfortunately, the inside contents of the so-called burrito were not edible. I should have paid attention to the red flags as I entered the restaurant. I saw a plate with an unfinished burrito it looked like someone took a few bites and left in a hurry, probably for some alkaseltzer or Pico. I would give the service a two. Sticky tables, sticky menus, asked for napkins, never came until I had to go to bar and ask for them. We got our food, and we're wondering when we would be able to get a fork to eat. They left me standing for a while, next to the table with my family sitting down, until lady came back to wipe off crumbs from table and chair. Ambiance a 1. Too cold for the big garage door look a like in the middle of restaurant, to be open. Shake my head. Kudos to the Hispanic gentleman who brought us the salsa and chips, friendly, smiled, and looked like he was not mad that he had to be there. read more

We had a party of about 20 people celebrating my daughter's graduation from RCC's nursing program. Yahoo!!! The staff had us outside, asked us if we wanted to come inside (it was starting to get warm...); we decided to stay outside but I thought it was very nice of them to be WILLING to re-seat such a large party. Way to go, El Torito! Nathan Ramirez was our server and he couldn't have done a better job at checking in with us, clearing our plates a few times for each person (we had a buffet-style meal), getting a vase to put some flowers in, monitoring the food to make sure nothing ran out, and on and on and on. He did have the help of other staff members and I would like to thank ALL of them for helping to make our afternoon wonderful!! read more

Haven't been to El Torito for a long time so we went today and wow they have changed... it's great now! We waited maybe only 5 mins and was seated where it wasn't to noisy. The steak was cooked med and was fantastic. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly and with some lime it was even better. The taco was one of the best my wife has had. The rest was normal. read more

Taste: 4 stars. I love their salsa! Can't stop eating their complimentary chips because of it. Sometimes they have deals each day. For example, we usually come on Wednesdays because it used to be Kids Eat Free but now it's still a pretty good deal because kids eat for $1 with each Paid Adult Entree. If you come on a weekend or a day that doesn't have a deal, then there's AAA 10% discount. I like getting their 2-item combo or 3-item combo for $1 more, mix and match items like beef taco and beef enchiladas. Price: Ok. They have Happy Hour if you sit in the canteen area. You can also sit inside or outside. Price is great when we come on Kids Eat for $1 day. Atmosphere: The music used to be too loud in the Happy Hour section but now they've toned it down a bit, which makes it more bearable to eat and have a conversation there. I had been to several locations throughthe years that were so horrible I swore to never return. fast forward todayI was in Riverside & decided to get them one last chance. OMG! the bacon shrimp came out burnt & the plate was messy & full of liquid! unedible. Then my burrito came out & it was ice cold. didn't look the burrito on the menu it as the size of a 33 cent frozen burrito from the grocery store.I counted small pieces of the asada inside 5 small pieces and nothing but onions & soggy burrito shell! the tomatillo sauce on the side was discolored & tasted old a burnt Not edible . It was such a monumental was of money. who ever the cook was should re-think being a cook! I'm done will never visit another El Torito. staff was nice they should try their own food ugh read more

I just can't love this place. Occasionally I want to come here so today I came alone and sat at the bar. It took a while to get any service at all when the waitress did come it took her a while to bring me a menu. She was very nice, but the whole process was a little slower than I would've liked mostly to pay the bill and get out, what I ordered wasn't delicious, but it was free and that was the Luer that got me there. I do like their drinks but who can screw up on alcohol. Lol. This seems like a great place to come with a lot of people especially if you just wanna eat chips and salsa and chat and a lot of sports games on. Food was great and service was exceptional! As appetizers we ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and the guacamole. Loved that the guacamole was made right in front of us and the bacon wrapped shrimp was amazing! Also loved that there were more options than just chicken nuggets for children. I wanted to write this review to thank Vincente for handling our party of 12 with the greatest attention. He went above and beyond! He was quick with refills, cleaned up a toddler drink spill quickly and with a smile and overall was a wonderful server. Not only did he ensure our birthday girl got a dessert, he also brought ice cream for the kids at the table! How thoughtful! A large party with kids can be a great experience or a disaster, Vincente made sure that it went smoothly and handled everything with a smile. My husband and I had the pleasure of having Vicente as our waiter this past Friday night at El Torito in Riverside Plaza. He was very helpful and friendly. He checked in on us quite often and even suggested some options that made our meal even better. At some restaurants, services suffer on busy nights however, this was not the case with Vicente. If at all possible never allow yourself to be conned into eating there on a Sunday afternoon. Made reservation for Sunday at two in the afternoon so that we could order off the menu and not partake in the brunch, whoever answered the phone said that was fine and read back our contact information. Showed up at two and the hostess said that we were wrong and must have contacted a different restaurant, showed her the confirmation on my phone and magically we were in the right spot!!!! Was shown a table in the bar (which was fine) and noticed that every television in the place had lines running through the screen (like maybe someone had missed a cable bill). After our drink order was taken was informed that the had ran out of complementary chips and salsa (absurd right?). Now on to dinner, it tasted like it was left over from brunch, put in a warming tray and brought to our table. Our waiter Vicente was extremely nice during lunch! They have happy hour I believe from 3-6pm and it was delicious I had the chicken flautas, my friends got the tacos and sopes... soooo good! What we really came for were the margaritasI had the strawberry blended 5/5 and the coconut blended margarita 5/5 recommend ! Decided to come for HH today. I never come to El Torito but today I gave it a try and wow it was ah-maxing . The taco Tuesday menu was great and delicious !! Al pastor was BOMB aF!! I'm so glad I came. Erika and Jocelyn were super attentive, professional and had great customer service skills. My daughter loved the Al pastor , corn and cornbread ! $4 beer hell yes ! Definitely recommend my favorite was also the chorizo cheese dip , like wow ! Left that place super happy and satisfied foreals . Will be back for sure ! read more

Drinks were good (had the strawberry margarita & Cucumber jalapeño margarita.) The chicken Fresca & chili reñeno plate was okay but the chicken itself was dry and a very small portion of meat (ive had it previously and it was much better the first time.) The rolled tacos were pretty bad, especially the steak one... it tasted like old oil. I should have told my waiter right away but felt bad to... then regretted not telling her at the end.
