We had a really enjoyable experience overall. The food was pretty good, with everything coming out fresh and flavorful. What really stood out, though, was the service. Stephanie H took great care of us--she was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without us having to ask. A special highlight from our visit: my son absolutely loved the piña coladas and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. It definitely added a fun touch to the meal. We had such a great experience at El Torito! From the moment we sat down, Stephanie H. made us feel completely taken care of. She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, and she managed our table so smoothly; even with kids in the mix. She got every single order right (which honestly impressed me with how many little details we had), kept drinks refilled, and checked in at just the right times to make sure we were all happy. Came here because we were craving the Cesar salad dressing and chips and salsa. We love El Torito's Cesar salads. Our server Stephanie H. Greeted and seated us as she noticed we were standing at the host stand for a minute and hadn't been yet greeted. Stephanie let us know she was going to grab our chips n salsa and would be right back. The only reason we are giving 4 stars is because we wanted Mahi mahi tacos and they were out. They were also out of one other thing but I can't remember off the top of my head. We've been to this location a few times and another time they were out of salsa. Stephanie was super sweet and made sure she checked on us. Here's what we ordered: Fijita salad: 8/10 good size and enjoyed the skillet veggies and chicken. Macho combo: 8.5/10 chile relleno, white enchilada, red enchilada. All were good. The chile relleno seemed a little sad but was still good in flavor. The feijoles de La Jolla were delicious. The white enchilada and red one were both good as well. Cesar salad: 10/10 We visit this location when we're in the area. We do enjoy el torito and will be back again. read more

My fiance took me out just for a let's not cook night after a long work week. Wonderful food, good quality, flavorful and felt freshly prepared. So many sit down restaurant still Mexican food places feel like everything is premade by a factory somewhere and compiled in house, this all tasted fresh and cooked at point of sale. Stephanie was our server and she was fantastic and attentive, but not overly attentive leaving room for us to enjoy our meal and share each other's company while still meeting every one of our needs effortlessly. My dad and I stopped in after a trip to San Manuel Casino, a.k.a. Yaamava. We had the best experience ever. They were playing our jams on the overhead music. Jorge is the best waiter ever he is so sweet and polite. The food was fantastic. My father got a cheeseburger and fries and I got the fajitas with steak and shrimp. Host was amazingly kind and very attentive. Food was okay, very disappointed in the ranch dressing as well as the cilantro dressing that was in my Cesar chicken salad wrap. Both dressings were extremely watered down, the one in my wrap was flavorless and only showed its presence by the wetness and not by the flavor; gross. The Vampiros tacos (chicken or steak) are one of the best dishes that El Torito has to offer. I suggest you order a side of consommé just to take the flavor up a notch. The tacos come with a very generous portion of guacamole, pico de gallo, and a slightly spicy, warm red sauce that comes on the side. The tacos are accompanied by the usual sides of Mexican rice, frijoles de la olla (whole pinto beans), and corn cake. We came during lunch and it wasn't particularly busy, but there were a few tables that were occupied. Service from Umaro was average, not bad nor good. He was impatient and wanted to rush us to order. I had to respectfully ask him to give us a minute. They also offer a lunch buffet for $16.50 each weekday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. If you're not a fan of buffets, you can order from the menu. They have full-sized dinner entrees and a lunch menu with smaller portioned entrees. Overall, the meal was delicious and I will definitely be back to order it again in the future when I am craving tacos. read more

My family had a wonderful experience tonight. The food was great and our waitress, Stephanie H, went over our food choices with us. She volunteered what dressing to expect in the salad and the spice level of the carne asada burrito. She was very knowledgeable of the menu. We celebrated my son's 21st birthday and they served him flan and sang happy birthday, which he really enjoyed. The music was perfect volume and the restaurant and restrooms were clean. The first menudo serving I got three pieces of meats out of the menudo pot. I went for the second but this time I got just the soup. My husband felt bad for me so he was trying to get another bowl for me. He told me that it was still no meat. He said someone to get a new pot with meats in the pot but nothing happened. I told my husband to go and stand next to the menudo pot until someone actually bringing a new pot. Sure enough, my husband came back with a bowl of menudo soup with pieces of meats in there. Don't get me wrong the menudo was delicious. I would come back again to have menudo. Jamaica is so refreshing and flan was delicious. read more

El Torito has been a California staple for years, sad to seem them become a dying breed, being a kid in the 90s and going to El Torito was a big deal! This place has always had a special place in my heart. Living in Las Vegas we don't have any so coming to Cali and eating at one is a treat when one is near by. We came into town for the weekend and were staying nearby, I wanted to take my bf since he has never been. We came on Monday September 30th 2024 and I must say the service at 12pm was superb! The place was busy because of all the nearby buisness having lunch time allot of buisness people and they offer an all you can eat lunch that looked delicious! Our server was Gumaro and when I tell you he is the definition of what a server should be! He was very attentive to our needs and had a great personality all while doing it he had over 15 covers alone and was bussing and running all his good keeping all the drinks filled and did it all with a smile. I'm a manager at a celebrity chef restaurant on the strip and I would be proud to be his manager if he was my server! So kudos to Gumaro for his superb service! I hope he is recognized for his hard work and great attitude. Next time we come we will be asking to sit in his section, thank you el Torito San Bernardino for a great experience! read more
