Met friends for lunch on a Friday and we're seated right away. We ordered off the lunch menu. I had the Chimichanga, it came with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, rice & beans. El Toro Mexican Grill and Bar is located near University of Buffalo and Niagara Falls and is a great place for large groups. There's plenty of parking in front of the restaurant and the bathrooms are clean. The prices here are medium pricey and the portions are huge. The waiters were a bit rude to us when we visited during grad weekend since we didn't speak Spanish and we'd have to check in on our waters being filled often. However, the food came out quick and was very conducive to family style eating. We ordered the margarita tower, which was filled with about 2 rounds for 6 people. You can pick the flavor of the margarita inside and it was pretty convenient self-serve for a big group. The spicy salsa was bitter and didn't really taste good but mixed with the free salsa tasted okay. The chicken fajitas were a bit bland but the salsas and guac made up for it. The quantity of chicken and veggies was a lot (1 order of chicken fajitas for 2 fed 4 people comfortably). The ambiance inside was conducive for families and had cute decorations for pictures. It has plenty of parking in front and side of the restaurant with easy entry in. Nice Mexican music playing in the bar area , low enough that you can enjoy conversation with your meal. Plenty of tables, spread out into sections so you are not on top of other people. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. The chicken was nicely shredded white meat in all 3 items. Went to El Toro today for dinner. It took a little bit for our server to come over to us because I joined the table late (I was meeting my fiancé and a friend after a round of golf). Once he did come over, our server was very good. I had a Paloma which came in a cool clay cup, and ordered the Burrito El Toro. Both were awesome! The El Toro was so much food I couldn't finish it, but every bite was fantastic. The restaurant is fun, it has a cool atmosphere and the drinks and food are very good. I had be here a few times before when they first opened. The food was amazing!! Authentic Mexican food. Then things changed I don't know if it was new management or owners but it just wasn't the same. GREAT NEWS!! They are BACK!! I don't know if they brought in new chefs or the old owner returned but they are BACK!! The food was amazing. From salsas to guac, to perfectly cooked steak tacos it was so delicious!! Serving staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Only thing they need to do is bring back the outside seating. I mean you're looking at Niagara Falls Blvd., but there is just something about good food and a bit of fresh air that just hits when you're with good friends or family. I visited El Toro with a couple friends around February-March. I ordered the chicken mole--it was one of the most delicious foodstuffs I have ever consumed in my life. Spicy, bitter-sweet, savory, just mmmmm. Service was quick and efficient; the waitstaff got all our orders right, and brought the food/drinks out fast. The atmosphere is lively and exciting. I even Shazam'ed a couple songs they played in the restaurant because they were so good (e.g. A Dios Le Pido by Juanes). I ordered from this place on door dash. It's less than five minutes from my house by car. My order was received and delivered with in 20 minutes... Great right?!?! I'd say yes, but my order has a few issues. When it arrived it was luke warm in it's container, and I ordered fajitas, but received no tortillas with my order. Obviously the delivery driver isn't at fault so I called the store to explain the situation. Spoke with the manager on duty, who said he had packed my order and was positive he had left the tortillas in the bag.... This was false. Then told me he'd give me a discount on my order.... Delicious authentic Mexican homestyle and Texmex style dishes. The staff was really nice. The only negative is that the salsa has oregano in it (common in the WNY area) that makes it taste like marinara sauce. It makes me really miss Texas restaurants' salsa. Been here twice now and had two different experiences even though I ordered the same thing (combo #29) both times. Luckily, the food was consistent and delicious both times. A lot of food for just $10 too, and the $3.95 margarita special is a good deal too. The service was the main difference though. The first time our waitress was PHENOMENAL! Everything was quick, and she checked in on us several times. However the second time we had a server who was much less attentive. He came to take our drink and food orders, drop off our food then our check, but didn't come in between. When he brought out our food I gave him my empty margarita glass and asked for a water. He must've forgot because never came back until way after we had all finished eating, despite trying to get his attention all throughout dinner. I love ordering margarita pitchers from this restaurant. Their margarita tastes great, only 22$, and equals to approximately 6 glasses. You can ask them to make it frozen but I like the way it comes on rocks. This restaurant also gives chips and salsa out like most other Mexican restaurants but I love how they give extra salsa in a container so you don't have to keep asking for extra salsa if you're a big dipper like me. The food was average for a Mexican restaurant in the area. The prices here are reasonable and I love their beans so I can't really complain much about this place. Our server was great. He was very nice and made the whole experience of dining here better. He was also very accommodating to adding sauces or changing the protein option on the menu. I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom to try it out. I was pretty disappointed with the service and food. There was no one else in there when we arrived, which is usually a bad sign, but they were newly opened at the time. Our waiter was pretty standoffish and barely spoke to us unless he was getting our orders. No greeting, no "hi, how are you today?" I ordered a mango margarita, which was from a mix and the consistency of soup. I know it was from mix because I watched the waiter make it. It tasted pretty gross, too. It's hard to drink margaritas that are neither on the rocks nor frosty and icy. My mom and I ordered 3 tacos each. I specified that I needed mine to be in a hard corn shell because of my gluten allergy. They came to the table rather quickly, which is usually not a good sign either, but I figured tacos are probably the quickest orders to make in a Mexican restaurant. My taco shells were stale. Not just a little bit either...I couldn't even break them because they were so rubbery. The waiter didn't come back for a bit so I ate the inner part of my tacos with a fork. When he finally came back, I asked for new tacos, which he did eventually bring in a to go container. He wasn't apologetic in the slightest, which I thought was unprofessional.
