Amazing service, amazing food and great vibes! We came here around 5:00 on a Tuesday for taco Tuesday and were seated right away. The menu has soooo many delicious options it was so hard to choose I got the arroz con pollo with jalapeños added and my partner got the Norteño dish. Both looked and smelled delicious. Beyonddddd flavorful! The drinks were strong (in a good way)! You only need one maybe two since they aren't watered down! One of the best taco Tuesdays we've had in a while!

It was a Wednesday night at 8:30 pm and still hadn't eaten yet!! I'm rolling solo, and I needed a place where I could get good food at a later time and wouldn't feel awkward without a wingman. So I pondered a few places, and Aguacates came to mind. I'm no stranger to this place, I can easily say it is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants due to the portion size, price, and above all ....the taste!! Also, the decor is bright and festive, though it isn't A huge restaurant it has a big personality!! The first and my favorite dish at Aguacates is molcajete!! It's 4 meats with veggies and cheese served with salad, rice, and beans in a sizzling clay bowl. I've had this dish at other restaurants, and I feel they do it best ! I've recommended this dish to many other people, and they agree!! However, during my last visit, I was craving a quesadilla. The waiter, who was absolutely awesome, recommended I get the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla. I really love this dish, full of flavor, stuffed, and most importantly, cheesy !! I'll definitely order this again!! So please check this place out and don't forget to grab a margarita as well!! They have a great collection of tequilas!! They recently opened a 2nd location in Blasedell, which is bigger and offers more seating.

Always a 5. Service is fast and friendly. Food is always hot and delicious. We went on a Saturday evening around 6:30. 4 of us and we were sat in about 5 minutes which was great. I always get the flautas with a side of refried beans. The chicken, shells and cheese sauce is always so good! I also get a blended raspberry marg with sugar on the rim. Always my favorite!

We headed downtown initially looking for a brunch spot and found a lot of places were closed on Sundays. Thankfully, this spot was open. We were seated right away, the server, and the bartender were very nice. We ordered a standard margarita and a spicy margarita. Both were very delicious and very large. For lunch we did a chimichanga with rice and beans and the steak fajitas, both of which were good. Chips and salsa were great. I loved that the salsa was not chunky and had good flavor. The restaurant wasn't that busy, great Spanish music is always a plus. Overall was fast, friendly service, food came out pretty quick. Great prices too for the lunch options.

The ambiance was definitely bright & colorful the energy was definitely In effect!! The service was great, our waitress was very tentative to us, and made sure our glasses of water were full. The food, we started with tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa I enjoyed the chips not so much. I ordered the tortilla soup, as it arrived and I looked at it, I was expecting other ingredients in it. I have eaten tortilla soup plenty of times to know all the ingredients needlessly to say it was very tasteful, but some ingredients I didn't eat. I'll definitely visit again but will order something different. My guest ordered a churro, no complaints whatsoever she enjoyed every bite! It was a great time! Also the noise was average.

To me, the best Mexician food around! Everything is delicious, and I have not had anything bad! Love love love. Fresh authentic and tasty!

    Pollo Con Crema

I was very surprised to see the ratings for this place! This was honestly the best pollo con crema I have ever had. Sometimes with Mexican restaurants it will just be quest and chicken. But this was so flavorful with a bunch of other stuff added. The drinks were good too, definitely a little pricey. Our server was the best ever! We came on the day of the eclipse, so it was super busy. However, she was the sweetest person, and everyone at the table agreed. Since this place is right on Elmwood, I would totally come back a agin for the pollo con crema alone!

My goodness, this food was phenomenal. The chips and salsa are addicting, if you aren't careful you can fill up on those before your food comes out. I had the pollo loco chicken plate and it was delicious. Also tried fried icecream for the first time. Two thumbs up!

The food was pretty good. I ordered the enchiladas. The meat needed a little more flavoring but they weren't bad. The beans and cheese enchiladas were definitely better. I also ordered an Al Pastor taco. It was pretty good. It was marinated well. The service was fantastic and the food arrived fast. The music was on point, loved the ambiance.

service was sooooo slow here. they were nice but we were constantly tryna track this guy down to order them pay. The food was very meh but I don't think it's that different from any other Tex mix place in buffalo. They have free chips and salsa which was nice (said to be spicy but I barely felt a tingle, probably cuz I'm used to Asian spice) the atmosphere was really cute though and I appreciated all the little touches of decoration!!

The spot always have great Mexican food. It's always a nice regular atmosphere in here. The male server we had was ok, but wasn't the best.

Finally made it over here for a dinner with some friends and what a great spot to snag some Mexican food right on the Elmwood strip. It's a smaller sized restaurant so seating is relatively limited. We had a table of 4 on a Friday night around 730 and the wait was 25 minutes which was not bad at all. They take your number down to call you when the table is ready so no need to stick around if the wait is excessive. Staff was friendly and responsive! Chips and salsa when we sat down and the waiter even gave us refills on both. Food came out nice and quick and was delicious. Ordered the jumbo burrito which was the perfect amount of food. For drinks they do have a lot of specials. Went with the shot of tequila and Modelo pony for $7. Overall I would say very quality Mexican food for slightly above average pricing. Worth the price!

Tortilla chips are my weakness. The crisp crunch, the warmth, the perfect salt to chip ratio dipped in salsa is divine. This place has that. I loved those chips. Unfortunately, the rest of the place falls short, if I'm comparing it to other places in the area I enjoy in the Mexican food category. I ordered the tacos de carne asada. It came with rice and beans. The beef was a little tough to chew and not all that tender. It was also too over done, although the server didn't ask me how I wanted my meat prepared. The taco was pretty plain and only came with the meat inside, and a small side of hot sauce and pico de gallo to add to the taco. The rice and beans were typical. Nothing really stood out from the meal.

Edited a minute ago New…read moreUpon entering the establishment, the security guard took our IDs and he was holding a high-alcohol content beer, Hayburner, in one hand, and holding our ID's with the other. He seemed angry when my brother asked if our ID's had to be scanned, and really seemed to snap at my brother, but we shrugged it off and he scanned them and we went on with our night. Throughout the night, the security guard continued drinking these Hayburners. My brother and I were enjoying our evening, had not once had any issue with another patron or the bar, and we were in mid-conversation about piano, when I felt the guard standing behind me. He was just standing behind me, staring my brother down. It was a scary feeling. My brother, who has worked in the industry for 20 years, asked if everything was okay. The security guard approached my brother and started pushing him saying "Everything is okay with me is everything okay with you??" And my brother was walking backwards trying to de-escalate this seemingly intoxicated security guard. That's when I watched him grab my brother by both shoulders and push him backwards across the entire length of the bar, knocking him into people and objects, eventually pushing him out of the door. He even grabbed another guy and shoved him so hard against the wall that that guys beer went flying and he had purple and blue bruises from his grab. I desperately tried for the other woman security guard to understand he had just been assaulted and had done nothing wrong. She seemed to nod like she had seen this before, but wasn't going to do anything about it. My sister and I were astounded at the actions of this man. That's when he shoved me, a mid thirties woman not even half his size. Even after we were walking away from the bar, this security guard stood outside yelling towards us that he, direct quote, was going to "break our f***ng necks". This is negligence on the bar's behalf, for allowing an intoxicated security guard to a$$ault patrons. We immediately filed a police report, and they requested the video footage from the bar. The bar refused to provide any of the footage. Usually, bars who have nothing to hide are quick to comply- which was very telling in this case. We were never once asked to leave. We were just blind-sighted. I immediately called the bar after the incident and one of the owners, Amanda, who was tending the bar and witnessed the entire thing, cheerfully answered the phone. She had served my brother with no issue. I let her know her security guard had just assaulted us, and she said "ok?" And nothing further. This place does not give a rip about anyone's safety, especially not women's. It has been weeks and I'm still recovering from the pain of this night. Beware for your safety, women. I did what I could, but their actions will likely result in someone getting seriously hurt.

Iron Works is an ideal venue in a lot fo way- not too big, not too small, and the perfect place for an intimate experience with a band you enjoy. Most recently we saw Caligula Blushed for their first visit to Buffalo. My other half has been a fan of The Smiths since forever, but we have stopped seeing Morrissey in concert. This was the next best thing to seeing Johnny Marr in concert. Great show, good crowd, not too crowded, and people were actually there to see the show unlike when we saw Nick Lowe at Iron Works and some people would not stop talking!! Post-pandemic, but also anytime, I have to say how incredibly wonderful it is to get fresh air during a show. The garage style door by the stage was open letting in some natural night and lots of fresh air on a cool night, which is really perfect for a show. I'm over crowded, stuffy, hot, and dark. The opening leads to an adorable patio with lots of tables, chairs, and string lights. There's a platform with seating and a little balcony with seating. There are lots places to set your drink whole dancing as the platform and pillars all have ledges. There are two selve-serve water coolers, which is also great to see. I tried a summer cocktail - a Loganberry Dirty Shirley, which was super sweet but that's what it's designed to be. A Coke was $3 and the cocktail specials were $10. Mocktails are $8 and there are other n/a offerings as well, along side beer, liquor, and what have you. They have a garden burger and fries on the menu, in addition to other meat and cheese foods. Tickets to this show were $12, which is so reasonable for a night out. This is more fun than going to the movies and should definitely be a go to if you want to get out of the house. Fresh air, water, seating...all this sets Iron Works apart. If you haven't been, go, and of it's been awhile, go back. My other half was reluctant to go out but was so glad he did.
